This was my 3rd G3 show and by far the best one of the bunch. Why? That tall skinny guy with the big ears. Besides being a great guitar player, Gilbert is truly a "genuine" soul: funny, passionate, entertaining, and most of all....HUMBLE. Petrucci was HEAVY and LOUD, he played with 'spot-on' technical precision, but still was his same boring self on stage - no surprise there. Portnoy is amazing - he seemed to lose his concentration on occassion, which caused his timing to be off now and then, but his skills never missed a beat (no pun intended), he's insane - highly entertaining - and truly the best part of John's set! Joe was his usual masterful self - again, no surprise. Paul was simply the life of the party. The G3 jam was as amazing as always - except this time Gilbert's vocals and antics made it as much of a SHOW as a jam session - kudos Paul! Minor drawbacks of the show: Gilbert's set was too short, Petrucci was too loud, and the mix during the final jam was skewed. This is one show that has to be seen to be believed - words alone can not do it justice. If you have the chance to see it, you'd be a FOOL not to - concerts don't get any better than this!

Paul Gilbert was full of surprises. I knew of his instrumental solo work, but was glad when he did some Mr. Big and Racer X. But Petrucci was actually the main reason that I wanted to go. And I was not dissapointed. I took my 15 year old nephew with me because I figured that as a guitar student himself, he'd like to see the guy who taught Steve Vai and Kirt Hammet a thing or two. I thought he would be blown away by Joe, but he was actually more impressed the Petrucci. I've never seen a crowd so hyped for Petrucci and even moreso for drummer Mike Portnoy who also never dissapoints. Joe was great that night. His performance was steller. During "Flying on a Blue Dream", the crowd was completely silenced and that first note pulverized my ear drums and that's when I knew I was in the presence of greatness. I have seen Joe two other times, but never on G3 and it was an experience. The only bad things were my crappy seat and some drunk jerk who insisted on standing during "Always With Me, Always With You".

G307 was one of the best shows I've ever seen! From Paul Gilbert's opening riff to the final note of the G3 Jam this was one helluva show! All three players were brilliant during their respective solo sets and the G3 Jams were nothing short of amazing! Joe, Paul and John looked like they were having a great time jamming together. I can't wait for the next G3 tour-opening show in Phoenix!! If you have a chance to catch this show, do it!

Great show! This was my first G3 and they shreded the house down. I loved the Super Colossal show last year because it was great to hear Joe jam out all the songs, new and old and we were lucky to get a G3 in Dallas with Andy Timmons and Eric but this year was fun to see Joe pull out all the stops on the old songs and then watch him even grove to Paul and John's jams. Looked like he had a lot of fun that night. Frist time we met Joe too and my son lapped it up with all the stories from guitars and effects and music, from Stu to Di Meola, from chickens to frog men. He was pressed for time but talked with the rest of the folks as they were getting their pictures taken with him. It was all very cool. Joe looks real good and shows you're never too old to rock if you're too young to die. Keep healthy Joe, we love you man!
