Absolutely amazing show, this was the first concert I've ever been to period, and Joe and crew made it an experience to remember! I've seen all the DVD's, which are great, but they still don't do justice to the thrill of a live show. Thanks a lot Joe!

A late posting for the site, but I felt it was worth mentioning that Joe's sound was definitely better than last year's show. Like many, I was peeved that there was no notice of the show being moved to the Roxy (fortunately, Atlanta traffic was not as congested as it normally is, so the hop from downtown to Buckhead was acceptable). This was my 10th+ show, and Joe never disappoints. I was glad to hear some older songs, and the newer ones went over really well. Galen had more than a few moments of glory with his solid rhythm playing; Matt is always a good support, and Jeff just helps to make this band sound so good. One can't help but be amazed at the dexterity of Joe's playing, and the ability to maintain such a high standard for so long of a set. I miss Stu being part of the band, but Matt doesn't disappoint. It's also refreshing that when Joe plays a 7-string, you can actually hear it, and it sounds good. Joe and Steve Vai seem to be the only ones who make music you can truly appreciate with a 7-string. Which begs the question, when will a JS seven string version be available for those who think the UV is just a bit too big? In closing, a sincere thank you goes out to Joe's crew for helping to make him sound so good, his band for helping to make the music, and, of course, to Joe, for always setting the example of what a true musician can be, and a level of quality to aspire to.

I have seen Joe on every tour he has had since 1988 and this was one of the best. I'm glad it changed from the Tabernacle because the last couple of shows there had terrible atmosphere. Joe has never sucked...just clear channel! (See my review from 8-24-2002...it states Roxy but it was Tabernacle!) I did receive and email from NEXT ticketing advising me of the change. Anyway this show was unbelievable because Joe played some older songs live that he had not done before and the band sounded awesome. I was surprised to see such a small crowd but Joe plays the same whether there's 20 people or 20,000. I got a pick from the show and Joe's merchandise is top-quality...especially the hats. There were a lot of people with their damned phones in the air though. That was completely annoying as hell trying to watch Joe and have the stage lights beaming back in my face from some hoser's Motorola screen. I wanted to bring my camera but there was a sign that stated no cameras were allowed. I should have known better. I was very happy to see Joe play most of his new album and he flat wore out my ears. Props to the sound crew for doing an awesome job. My favorite song is Mystical Potato Head Groove Thing but he didn't get around to that one...Oh Well...Joe rules!

This is the first time I have seen Joe Satriani in concert. I was absolutely blown away. His hands were just a blur and he seemed to really enjoy what he was doing. Thanks

Hey guys! Lovin' the site you got here Joe. Anyways, I've only been listenin to Joe for a few months now after my friend gave me a copy of Surfin With The Alien. Amazing CD! I didn't even know he was coming to town until just a week or so ago. You'd think an artist as amazing as Joe Satriani would get much better advertisement and promotion. That kinda surprised me. Anyways, I showed up about an hour before the show started. I got the tickets as a present for my 16th birthday, and I wasn't gonna waste them by showin up late. The Roxy seemed like a small venue, again a product of the low amount of advertising, no doubt. Anyways, I was standing about 10 feet or so away from the stage when Joe came out. He certainly didn't disappoint! As my first Satriani concert, I'd easily rank it as the best one I've ever been to. Joe just blew me away with his amazing guitar playing! I've only got Surfin With The Alien so I only recognized one song that he played, but it only made it better to hear all new stuff. Incredible stuff! After the intermission I was a little bit farther away, but I could still see fine. There was this crazy old guy dancing off to the side, but I didn't really pay him any notice. Near the end (loved that rendition of Sleepwalk, by the way), a bunch of kids in the front left so I got to sit on the amp on the right side for the last song! It was great to be so close to the band! I had to leave after that, so I dunno if there was an encore or not. All in all, great concert!

This was a fantastic show, the best I've ever been to in my 14 years of life. Me and my buddies got right up on front row and actually talked to Matt! We were all wearing shirts that spelled out "SATCH" so I think he might of noticed us heh. I had never even remotely interacted with a band at a show until now, and of all of them it happend to be Joe Satriani's! The set list was great as well, and his newer songs were just wonderful. I could tell the whole crowd was as into it as myself. Searching and Hands In The Air especially sounded great, and then he ended the show with some older songs, so it couldn't get much better than that :D. If you are planning to go see him on this tour then be prepared for an amazing performance.

I'll keep it really simple. The first set started a little late, and clocked in at an hour and 15 minutes, with alot of fast stuff. After the intermission, they went for about another hour and 15, with more slow stuff. Plain and simple, expect the unexpected - this is NOT "Live in SF". My only 2 disappointments- I REALLY wanted to hear 'Slick', and Joe didn't bring out that ultra-cool flame guitar. Other than that, all I can say is ...WOW!!!!

That show was killer!!! Joe could not have been better. I got to the Roxy at like 5:30 and had to wait forever to get in, but it was so worth it. I was in the very front, center stage. I got some awsome pics of joe before they told us to stop taking them :( It was so cool, joe was so close i could have flicked the toggle switch on his guitar (bad idea). The show was amazing, the only problem was some of the people there. I was next to Deaver and that crazy lady kept trying to jump over me to get a pick. Also, there was this guy that was just going absolutely crazy (not in a good way). He was all like pretending he knew how to play like Satch and put his camera phone like right into Satch's face . i guess some people just dont appreciate how lucky they are just to see Joe live. anyways, it was the best.

First of all let me state how upset I was to arrive at the Tabernacle only to find one little piece of paper posted on a window that stated the show had moved to the Roxy. With the amount of talent and album sales that Joe Satriani has you would of thought that he could get more publicity and radio airplay. It really upsets me to see that the greatest guitar player in the world can't even fill the Tabernacle. There was absolutely no notice given that the show was moved not even on this very website. As far as the show goes it was amazing as usual. I have seen Joe play numerous times and he has yet to let me down. He plays an amazing set full of a lot of songs you have never heard him play live. The set lasted for over 3 hours (with intermissions) you definately get your moneys worth. I do have a small complaint with the price of the T-shirts...$32 is way to much to pay for a regular T-shirt. I would like to see more artists realize this and they would sell 5 times as many items if they brought their prices down. I hope this problem with venue change does not make Joe reconsider coming to Atlanta again....

I have been to many shows in my life. This one tops them all! I arrived at the venue at 5 to find a line already forming. Finally after several hours of waiting i get in and right in front on the stage. Joe was standing no more then 3 inches away from me most of the show. I even had to pull my arms off the monitors i was leaning against so he wouldnt bump against me. I was completly blown away by his playing and time seemed to fly. I could see the set list the whole time and it was quite impressive. The only annoyance of the night was the lady behind me who after every song charged the stage crushing my ribs begging for Joe to give her a pick. Finally she got one,and i walked away with a drumstick.

won backstage passes,went to tabernacle and nobody was around!!! nothing was mentioned on website about venue change...we listened to Yngvie and Joe cd's on the way down so didnt catch any commercial radio announcements if any were made....My biggest complaint/observation is that Joe is not well promoted and if starry night and other great mainsteam tunes were to get more airplay he would have been moved to the Fox instead of the Roxy.!!!...ccentertainment sux like a mega company should see clearchannelsux.com for a shocking reality of modern megamedia companys....bottom line is with enough control of tv and radio stations c.c.ent. can dictacte what You have to listen to....they have 1 authorized song by Joe: allways with you allways with me....its all thats allowed without running a focus group to acess songs and then if its favorable they can play it for limited runs on late night programming and maybe 6 months later the public sheep will get to hear a second or third Satriani song in limited markets..according to the dj's for the local clear channel sponser station 96 rock......Blah with the right publicist and marketing joe could blow the doors off of some of the megabands, selling out much larger venues...not only musicians recogonize true talent..with more exposure Joe could be as big as bands with half his talent.....It's a shame that in an international city like Atlanta Joe Satriani music is not allowed to be considered on public airways...better to do like howard stern and go sirrus radio where the world can hear you....Satriani was allways considered eclectic or heavy metal instrumental...having stood the test of time with a devoted following they have not yet pushed for mainstream airplay and acceptance...which i suppose is good for the fan who waits backstage for the mild mannered maestro & band to shake hands n autographs...if they were megastars, they would have publisist to do it for them.....I would post the setlist but the soundguy wanted to keep it for his notes...Basically it was a 10 song set followed by a 15 minute intermission, a 5 or 6 song set and then a 4 song encore i wont spoil it with titles but some older stuff did make a great contrast to the best 3-4 songs from the latest cd and with over 2 and a half hours of just Joe it was an excellent show...P.S.sorry for the ranting but im still buzzed from the show...PICKME more later...................................................................................................................................... for the morning after review, the place was small with good sound from in center, near the soundboard, and even upstairs back wall center which was maybe 250 ft from stage...downstairs was standing only and a few hundred fans huddled by the stage. there were a lot more women at this show than usual WTG ladies...this is the show to bring your girlfriend ,wife or anyone curious who hasnt seen Joe to see. The band started with usual intensity and played for about 90 mins...there were a few spots when you could tell this was a new show and some of the songs were still needing some rough edges/ transitions polished..but they were barely noticable to most of the smiling fans i saw. I was impressed by the new material. He played most of my favorites from the new album..even one with vocals!! Joe ought to do 2 vocal tracks per album...lyrics add depth to his music and he should keep trying them. The band took a well deserved 15 minute intermission....this little place didnt have any fans for the stage and it was sticky down front...people were either smiling or looking pleasantly dazed by the audio barrage they had just witnessed...then came round 2...the band came back refreshed and played another round of blazing sound...playing old tunes with new intensity and cranking through fan favorites from just about all his albums...time flew by and (30 mins??) in the next blink it was encore time...I cheated and looked at the soundguys setlist, but i allready new which songs would be coming..all classic Joe ....any fan will be happy with the 2+ hours of magic these guys create..from Joe's guitar wizardry, to the bands relentless driving beat it can be summed up in one word: Awesome...

we got to go backstage and Joe was great as usual, he signed all our stuff and even posed for a pic with me (I will get it signed next tour)...the guys from the band came out and looked a little relieved to have the first one under thier belt for this tour.... they were in good spirits and joked and talked for a while. It was the first time I ever got a backstage pass, it was definately Kewl...we went to the car, which was parked out back next to the bus, and Joe had gone out and was signing stuff for fans out here too!! He really is a nice guy!! so just to let ya know you dont have to get backstage passes or pay extra to a ticket broker(scalper/scum) for a "package" to get to meet the man...he is humble and appreciative to his fans, which makes him a bigger star in my book..thanks Joe...
