Went to see Joe for the 9th time I think, with 2 of my friends who also play guitar. They had heard me brag about what it's like to visit a Satch-gig and wanted to see for themselves... were they in for it, hahaha. Joe totally blew them away with the songs they already knew, but even more with the new ones!!! Great dubbleneck, kick-ass 7-string and man what a great show: the audience sang happy birthday in the 'accoustic tapparamafrenzy- set', great to hear some song he doesnt usualy play live. The best concert I saw Joe was in the Ahoy Rotterdam with the Joe Satriani- album with Jonathan (Mover) and Steward (Hamm) for 3 hours and 15 minutes!!!!!!! But this one came close to it, the sound was great. See you all at the next Satch-gig!?

It was my first concert I visited from Joe. One of my friends told me about him and said: You just have to come with me! Trust me, you're gonna love it!!!! So I said yes and he was absolutely more than right! It was the greatest concert I ever visited. After the concert they sold some of the albums of Joe and immediatly I bought Surfing with the alien. Now, 17 april I finished my collection of albums and cd's, except for Additional creations. And now I wonder if I ever can get my hands on the origional one. I can download it any time but I want the real one... I want to thank Joe and his crew for giving me this great and fantastic show and I can't wiat 'till he visits Holland again... I'm really looking forward to it!!!!

Best show ever. No support acts. What I loved about this gig was that Joe played some old songs he usually do not play live. It is real fun to see these kind of songs also. I truly hope he will visit the Netherlands within short time. Cheers, Marco Rotterdam, The Netherlands

Started with Flying In A Blue Dream! Great start and a great show it was! The sound was great, and Joe sang a song !! Never heard his voice like that, it was amazing! He was playing some very old songs, but new ones 2. It was the best show i've ever seen! He was playing for 2 hours i think. 2 bad the T-shirts were so expensive :)

Joe,

Thanks for being magnificent. You are getting better and better each time I see you on stage. Last time was in bospop 2000 and that one was a bit short so I was very happy that you played 2,5 hours of that great music this time. Hope to see soon.

Hey Guys - I am from Belgium and we followed Joe in Paris and Netherlands too. Quite big hall this Heineken Music Hall...but sound was OK anyway, sometimes distorded in loudspeakers, but good enough. I was at first rank, screaming for Joe and the others ;o) The show was OK and a little bit different than in Paris. No break before the acoustic session and Bass and drum solo...not too long, not too short. Matt proved that he's a great bass player and even if some claim that Stu is better (which is quite stupid topics, don't u think?), I am convinced that Matt is doing a great job, he's really groovy, fills in the blank in the songs and supports the music the good way...it rocks. By the way, congrats to Gallen, he's discrete, but his presence is usefull and it was cool. So, thank you to all the satch crew, it was cool a gig! C ya soon..and in Belgium I hope.

Joe was comming to Holland again, and off course we'd be there. It was, for me, the best gig ever. The sounds was right, The band was really in Jamming mood, and Joe him self had ( for what i think) a blast of a time, he was having really fun performing. Jamming and so on.

One hell of a night, thanx for it. Bye

I have never seen anything like this in my entire life!!! dude, this was so sweet. It was my very first Joe gig, and he didn't dissapoint me. I had been waiting for him to arrive since 13:00 in the morning, and around 18:30 Jeff arrived, we got his autograph and took a picture. Jeff was so kind to tell us that Joe would arrive in an hour. Thanx Jeff, you're the best! :) and then, at 19:30, Joe arrived, again, we got to get his autograph and took a picture. Then the concert itself, it was HUGE! with classics like Flying in a Blue dream, cool #9, Surfing with the alien, and some new songs like Starry Night. But Joe, next time, play Sleepwalk, i like that song! :D and the crowds reaction to the sweet sounds of Satch Boogie... it was the best, i enjoyed this experience very much, and please come back to the Netherlands soon, Joe, we dig your music, thanks for the great evening!

I've seen quite a few shows of Joe over the years (8) and this was one of my favorites. Why? 1. He played a lot of his latest album and he played songs I've never heard live before (crushing day and headless). 2. He brought a rythm guitarist you could actually hear during the songs ;) Giving a nice overall sound.

Thanx Joe!

This was my 3rd show seeing Joe playing live in NL (others:G3 in '97 and his previous tour ). The sound was really good and the lighting as well. Thanks for playing your "ancient" songs as well (Midnight, The headless horseman), although I was expecting to hear The Feeling, when the chair was brought in. Once again goose bumps when you play 'One Big Rush', because that's what it is. Your gitar arrangements are not of this earth!

6th time I've seen Joe, and it was amazing again. Long show, very nice setlist, excellent performance. After the show I had the chance to meet Joe, he is very nice and cool. He signed my ChromeBoy so I think I am the luckiest guitarist on the planet now... Joe, thanks a lot for the aftershowmeeting! THIS WAS COOL. Also met Jeff and I was very proud to talk to him also, wow he's a good drummer, and very enthousiastic also. Guys, thank you very much for this unforgettable evening and cu next time!!

It was a very spectecular show! Joe started with flying in a blue dream but i don't no exactly what the rest of the songs where. But it was a great show, whit the seven string and the doubleneck! He played al the songs i wanted to hear. Joe is so extremly good!! He also doesn't make mistakes in his songs! Midnight and the headless horseman where very beautiful to. I love midnight, that song is sooo good. The songs of the new album where fantastic! Especially mindstorm. And there was a bass+drumsolo to. Jeff and Matt are so good!!! And i waited the hole concert on satch boogie, and finally they did the song for the audience. O, i forgot to tell it, but devil's slide was so very cool!! The part that joe plays as fast as the snare of jeff, and the lights went as fast as joe, and that gave a cool effect! This was my first show that i've seen from joe, and it was fantastic! Everthyting was perfect. It was a little bit hard, but that was just good! And one thing was also very cool (how many times i've said cool in this revieuw? :-) ) that joe did a riff, and the audience repeated that. I don't remember the hole line of songs, but if i do, i'll write it down on the site.

I really really enjoyed the show yesterday. I've been a Joe Satriani fan since eighties and I have seen him live 6 or 7 times by now. I liked the selection of songs, there were different from his previous tour. Most songs were from his earlier albums. The Joe Satriani blues album, Crystal planet and EOC were almost left out entirely. This is not a good thing because they are so many great tracks on these records. But hey, he can't play everything in one night! There were some nice surprises in the show to change the mood. After about an hour of fast and furious playing he sat down and played some cool relaxing tunes like "the headless horseman", "midnight" and "starry night". There were also some surprises in equipment: a 7 string guitar and a double neck guitar, one neck with a very weird tuning. The rest of the band was fine too. I enjoyed the bass/drum solo very much. Matt Bissonette was not trying to imitate the famous Stuart Hamn solo, he was just playing is own, more sensitive stuff But as with every Satriani concert, I had the feeling that the concert was a one man show with a background band supporting him. Joe's playing is just too dominant, too overwhelming, ok, he's just too good!

Some less good points: the overall volume level was too high in my opinion, especially for the lower notes. I am a frequent visiter of concerts of all kinds of music, so I know a live band can sound better. But the HMH is one of the best concert halls around, so this compensated largely the high volume. If the concert took place in Ahoy (Rotterdam) at this volume level it would have been a mess. Some of the fine nuances of Joe's compositions didn't always make it that well live. The Satch boogie, surfing with the alien and stuff like that are the best songs to perform live at this volume level. Maybe Joe should play in theaters next time at low volume levels, could be very interesting! A very disappointing thing: the T-shirts were far too expensive (Ok, I didn't stop me from buying) and I missed a bonus disc with The Eight Steps and Slick. I wonder if he has plans for that?

Amazing show! Best concert I've seen in years. Just over 2 1/2 hours non-stop and it really rocked! Great set-list (see below) with a good mixture of new songs, all-time favorites and other songs. I really loved New Last Jam, which Joe played on a new Ibanez JS double-neck guitar! Joe also played his new 7-string guitar which also looked very cool. Matt was playing very good a he's a very cool guy by the way, Jeff was really cooking and also Galen was enjoying himself. WOW that was good! O yeah, just one thing though, why on earth were the T-shirts so damn expensive??? This year price was € 30,- (about $ 30,- right now) while last year it wasn't even € 20,-.

Complete set-list: Flying In A Blue Dream, Crushing Day, Devil's Slide, Cool #9, Belly Dancer, Ice 9, Mind Storm, Seven String, The Mystical Potato Head Groove Thing, The Extremist, The Crush Of Love / Memories, New Last Jam, Summer Song, The Headless Horseman, Midnight, Starry Night, I Believe, Oriental Melody, Mountain Song, Why, Bass / Drum Solo, Always With Me Always With You, Raspberry Jam Delta-V, Surfing With The Alien, Satch Boogie, Friends

In one word this was awesome... I was left pretty much in a daze the rest of the night... this was the first time I went to a Satch concert and it was more then I expected. The sound was great, the atmosphere was great, the show was spectacular!!!

I got to go backstage after the show to do some pictures (also for this site I guess) And that was pretty impressive too... I meet a lot of artists and Joe to me is a real down to earth straight up guy who works his ass of bringing us a fantastic experience...

Big Thanks,

I enjoyed a really good show of Joe and his band yesterday in the HMH. Almost without any pause Joe fired away his (strange ?) beautiful music from the start of the show, coming to a slow-down after about one hour when the band played four songs (great finger-tapping by Joe !) seated before a very nice background of the Starry Night. After this very nice interlude Joe was up-to-speed again very quickly and before we knew it Satch Boogie was played as the first encore. Friends (with a little Beatles) was the closure of the show which lasted for about 2.5 hours. At the beginning of the concert the audience was very tame and quiet but that changed after a while. The sound was very loud, but not annoying. The quality of the sound was not always that good (some songs sounded a bit blurry, probably caused by the bass guitar). Personal favourites: Flying in a blue dream, Devils slide, Cool #9 and Mind Storm. Thanks for the great show Joe and see you next time. PS, skip the bass and drum solo next time.

This was an amazing show. It was my first time to see Joe, and I enjoyed every minute of it. He started off playing Flying in a blue dream, and after that, one of my favourites: Crushing Day. Then he played Devils slide and a few songs off SBM. Then came my favourite song: ICE NINE! So cool! Mindstorm was also very, very cool. I was in a daze the whole show. The interlude where Joe sat on a chair and played some softer songs was very cool, especially The Headless Horsemen and Midnight, and oh my god Starry Night is bea-ti-ful! I was surprised of how many songs off the new album he played, and they all sounded great live. Doubleneck Js's RULE! The seven-string was nice too and sounded awesome. I stood right in the front, and it wasn't too loud at all, the mix was fine. Of course he ended with Surfing with the Alien and Friends, but they still sound damn great! This was the best show I've ever been too. Period!

20.00, Amsterdam, nice weather, JOE SATRIANI

The show started off a bit slow, Matt and second guitarist (..) not moving around much, making it not really exciting at first. Joe was doing all his tricks (maybe he wanted to have some of that stuff out of the way).

The show got lost better when joe started his tapping pieces. There where more lights and the guys on stage really seemed to have fun. Great bass and drum solo's made things better.

The rest was really good: energy, great songs etc. Had a great time (thnx joe!)

It was a shame joe didn't move around the entire stage: his cable was too short to reach the right side of the stage (for the viewer) so the people there didn't really get "closeups" of joe's playing. Joe buy a longer cable!!!!!!

All in all: slow start but otherwise really entertaining.

oh yeah, I agree: great pants.

It was still early yesterday when I arrived at Heineken Music Hall. Several hours waiting in the blistering sun paid off when I, together with two other fans was able to first meet Jeff campitelli (you're the best) and finally Joe himself (god exists !) Two and a half hours later we were left dazzled behind, after a stunning concert with several beautiful older songs and incredible new material. The fact that my friend got robbed during the concert and I got robbed by a an armed junky at Amsterdam Central couldn't even spoil an unforgettable evening.

Hope you enjoyed my chocolates ? Greetz and lots of success for the rest of the tour

Enjoyed the show very much. Some songs get me goosebumps when I listen to them at home, and they did as well during the concert :-). I was standing close to the sound board, and I agree the volume was too loud. It started out okay, but they turned it up after the first few songs. Some parts it was just all a blur. Nevertheless, great show! Loved Matt & Jeff's solo part. Joe & the guys really gave all :)

Hi there!! Finally it was the evening with Joe! It was a great show but it was too loud!!! Especially the first hour!! My ears were exploding!! The middle part of the show with summer song and the headless horseman, midnight, I believe, starry night and Oriental Melody was the best part of the show. This was my 7th gig of Joe and not the best. I still miss the songs of the Time Machine album. But most of all, it was too loud!!! Hopelfully next time turn down the volume a bit. But the setlist was great and joe looked good in his pants!!
