I thought the show was excellent. John Petrucci's crowd-blowing performance, Vai's dazzaling finger & tongue work, and Satriani being cool, fiery, SPIRITED SELF. I loved the end solo Satch did on Rasberry Jam Delta-V. The way he changed each individual note to create a whole different tone within each funky guitar squabble-scream----Beautiful. I was pumped at the cover song's: ZZ Top's - La Grange, and Jimi's -Voo Doo Chile & Little Wing. It was perfect, because my friend and I were just talking before the concert on how cool it would be if you guys played Voo Doo Chile. It was unbelievable. Atmosphere was cool, damp, with a gentle wind--just right. Iloved it. Thank you all for the beloved gift of music, spirit, compassion, and expressive purity. Peace

P.S.--THANKS to John Petrucci for signing my Program, THANKS to John Petrucci's roadie for the John Petrucci & Steve Larue picks. And SATCH, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR MAKING MY DREAM COME TO TRUTH WITH ALL. THANK you FOR SIGNING MY RED JS 100 MODEL RED IBANEZ. MUCH LOVE BROTHERS!!!!!!@

Well im from mexico, and i went to humphreys, i get there at about 5 pm, there was sold out, no tickets! Then after a few minutes outside the venue, appears a Van. The van stops in front of the venue, and the door opens, out of the band comes Joe Satriani and Stu Hamm and some more people. WOW. So at 7:00 the event begun, i stayed outside the venue listening, and to tell the truth, Petrucci bored me, the only things i remember he played was Erotomania(without keyboards) and a Van Halen cover i guess. Then i decided to see that concert(after all i travel 4 hours to see g3) so i sneak on the hotel under some trees and plants till i reach a room where i can see all the show. I saw part of Petrucci set. The Steve Vai set was incredible! he plays the guitar like a monster!!!!! increible, i remember he played music from his new live album Live in a ultra world! and the best of all FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!!!!!!! Vai was the best player that night, i saw all the Vai set, to my good and bad luck i was watching the show and on the next room there were people with g3 tour cards and stickers, and some guy saw me and grab me an got me onto that room to my surprise that room was Petrucci and Portnoy Room!!!!!!!! they were there drinking something, and the manager drop me out of the room. :( so i move to another spot where i can see Satrianis set, and all i can say: He rulz! he has a lot of technique, speed, sound, he has it all! his sound was clear and pure, excellent the music selection was great, i remember he played surfing with the alien, cool no 9, and some increidible music of Engines of Creation! And the i saw the final jam, i remember they play a zz top song i guess, Hendrix Voodoo Child and other song that i didnt recognized. In total the show was increible, i give it a 9 because i expected more from John Petrucci after i saw Metropolis 2000: scenes from new york.

Ok here's the story.... I went to the show with my friend, my dad, and my aunt. My aunt, Dayna, grew up with Jeff Capmatelli (spell?) for 10 years in Danville, CA. So when she found out he was drumming for Satch (she had no idea, heheh) she was needless to say, very excited. So she sent a few messages back with security, and eventually we turn around and there's Jeff! So Jeff and Dayna caught up all night, before and after the show, and he hooked us up with 4 all access passes. So after the show he took us back and I got to chat with Joe for a little bit, it turns out he has a house up by one of ours (I won't say where)! So anyway the night was insanely cool, Jeff is an epic guy by the way, for anyone who doesn't know/hasn't met him, he would give his right arm for anyone. Jeff said "Nobody knows the drummer, that's how I can be standing here [by the front entrance] without getting mobed!" Oh yeah, the music was great too, as always..... geeze, do I even need to say that? So in the end, Jeff and I swapped email/phone/address, and he said after they're done touring, maybe he would chill in San Diego with us, catch up with my aunt some more (by the way they hadn't seen eachother for 15 years or so), and jam a little, who knows! It's funny, my aunt was talking about him alot, she said "He looks the same, just older!" and "WOW, I can't believe he's playing with Satranelli, or whoever.... back in highschool he just took his drums everywhere with him, always drumming, playing at the Danville music center and with friends, etc. but it's so weird to see him up on a big stage with lights and screaming metal-head pony-tail fans!" So anyway, it was steller. Later on folks! -Ross

Great show. I liked petrucci beacause not only is he a great guitar player, he is a great musician. The music he performed was so cool. I loved it, it was so chill. Vai was ofcourse the showman. I never knew you could have fourplay with your guitar, it was cool. JOE, dude the guy is a legend, great music, I felt more energy this year too. I wish I had a clear guitar!!!!!! Cant wait too see anyone of them again.

This was my first G3 show and i was very impressed. You thing that they're good in the studio and on DVD/Video...when they're live, its 100 times better. I was impressed with Petrucci's set. Its amazing that he wrote new songs especially for this tour. Vai...how the hell did he get that good. I have to say that I was a bit overwhelmed by his set. He had three guitarist (just in his set). There were also a few problems with equipment too. I amused to see Steve kicking his footswitch at the end of one of his songs. Steve's bassist (Billy Sheehan)is the bass version of Vai. Satriani was awesome. His trio works so well together. Stu was amazing. I thought he was good in the studio but live...he really is one of the best bassists! The G3 Jam was awesome! It was a little messy though. You couldn't really hear Petrucci's solos. Vai also seemed to be getting a little bored with the jam. But overall it was an awesome show!!!

What a killer show. All three of them were great, and the jam at the end was pretty damn cool. Petrucci's set was great, with all the new music for the tour. He mentioned that it had been written on short notice for the tour, and everyone laughed 'cause it sounded so awesome for "short notice". At one point in the first song he was soloing, and began nodding to someone. It was his wife and kids watching him from their hotel room (anyone who was there will know where). Later, I got Mike Portnoy's autograph too! Only problem: too many people were talking during the set, and it wasn't very loud. Vai was definitely the showman. It was cool what he did, but the stunts got a bit over-the-top sometimes. That's cool that Mike Keneally's from S.D., everyone cheered for him. Billy Sheehan is a lunatic! When they traded off solos on "Jibboom", the whole crowd shut up and dropped their jaws. Then Satch came on and tore it up. If anyone can come on after a Vai set, it's Satriani. Great set, Stu's bass was doing some weird things, changing colors in the lights and stuff. The jam looked like fun for them to play, but you couldn't hear them sometimes. All 3 of them harmonizing at the end of "Little Wing" was a major highlight. There are too many other things I could mention, but I can't take up too much space, so adios. I'll remember this concert for the rest of my life.

Awesome show!!!! The only down side was not hearing ceremony. All the players were on and I have to say that Joe did outshine the Steve and John, don't get me wrong they were all great but Joes set was the fastest and most on the numbers of all 3. Thanks to G3 for a great night

this show was amazing! not only was the energy and skill of the musicians very evident, but the setting was extremely beautiful. the show was right out near the water, there were palm trees and a cool breeze; even people who had boats and little canoes rowed up and had a view from about fifty feet from the stage. petrucci started things off with a bang,,, his settlist was powerful. petrucci also showed off his humor when in the beginning of his third song, his guitar wouldnt make any noise,,, calmly he stepped up to the mic and said in humerous voice "just talk amungst yourselves". then....... came steve vai, the showman,,, who did exactly what his last name means in (GO). i saw him getting ready to come onto stage from the side and he was acting like a sprinter setting his feet and getting ready to race, then ,,, he sprinted up onstage and ripped through a massive setlist(without even cutting his tounge, surprisingly). then......joe stepped onstage, and it was amazing. he was really into it and the croud. rasberry jam delta V had everybody getting out of their seats and bobbin to the beat. then came the jam... all three got out there, along with the two bassists and they played a steroid pumped version of some zz top, srv, hendrix and the mission impossible theme sone(i think it was the mission imp. song,, i may be wrong because it was all one big tripple whammy solo fest). but when it was finnished and they did the final bow and walked off, i am pretty sure everybody was content on the show they had just seen... i know i was! ----thegoose(curtis smith)

With this show, I've attended all 3 versions of the G3 lineup. This hsppened to be the best. Not only was the playing great the location for the show is great. The set lists were as previously described for the previous shows. I really liked Petrucci's set. He wrote 4 songs especially for this tour. He could have played it safe and did only covers, LTE, and/or DT songs. I was not that thrilled with Vai's set only because IMHO he takes the showman stuff to far and it kind of hokey. If he toned it down a notch, it would not be such a distraction to the music. Joe's set was vewry smooth and it was obvious that the trio is a well oiled machine. The music just seems to flow out effortlessly.

The G3 jam was very good though for me underwhelming. Here we have 3 great guitar players, and all they do is covers. I would like them to write a G3 jam song(s) for the tour. I'm sure it would challenging for them instead of taking the easy road an doing covers. Heck, Vai already looked a little bored with the jam after 5 shows.
