I must say, this was one of the greatest concerts I had ever been to in my whole life. My ears have never rung with so much glory. The set list for Joe's band was unbelievable and totally unexpected. The only thing that I disliked was the fact that Joe didn't play any music from his album Time Machine. Being that that is my favorite album by him, it was a downer to see that happen. But everything else about the concert made up for it. Simply being in front of the greatest and most charismatic guitarist in the world sufficed for me as I was nearly out of breath being in his presence. I loved seeing Paul and John Petrucci walk on stage during "Always with me, Always with you" It was totally stunning to see and hear Joe's solos in person and studying his rapid finger movements across the fretboard. I sincerely believe there is nothing so capable of sweeping the ocean than watching that in person. It is absolutely astonishing. Thank you for such a profound and uplifting performance which will never be forgotten.

Gilbert: The G3 tour is an ideal forum for Paul to showcase his eclectic/creative side (as displayed on his latest instrumental CD, GOOMY, which is so much more interesting than his old vocals/rock band style). He's a great guitarist, and does great tricks but unfortunately you could barely hear him over the guitar, bass and drums (keyboard was fine). If “Paul the guitar shredder” wants to be recognized as a solo great (which I think he is), his sound engineers need to learn to balance the sound better at concerts, so they don't ruin his performance.

Petrucci: Although I found him to be less creative/interesting than PG and JS, he played his heart out. He's a solid guitarist if you like heavier metal.

Satriani: As always, he effortlessly awed us with his crystal clear performance, energetic showmanship and incredible skill. He’s technically, compositionally and creatively superior to any guitarist I’ve ever heard.

The jam at the end was fun, though a different set list might have showcased their skills better. G3’s a great concept and Joe’s a classy host to his fans and to his invited musicians. Thanks Joe for sharing your talent with us all.

This show was a great Jam for the 3 great guitarists! I took my 14 year old for his first G3 show and he can't stop playing since we got home. The sound was truly amazing and each guitarists added their own personality to the show. Simply Awesome and can't wait for the next G3!

This was the first G3 I've ever witnessed live! It was very entertaining, especially because i hadn't really been familiar with Paul Gilbert until I saw he was going to play with Satch and Petrucci, needless to say I went out and bought his new album the next day, which is great. I also Caught 2 guitar picks that night!! A little upset that Steve Vai couldn't be there, but the G(5) Jam at the end completely blew me away! And Johnny A! What??!

Paul Gilbert: I was only somewhat familiar with Paul Gilbert, but I found his set to be the most interesting and entertaining of the night (outside the jam). He was very energetic and his personality was evident throughout.

John Petrucci: Again, I had little knowledge of Petrucci outside of the G3 Japan DVD and some clips from Youtube. I knew he had little stage presence going in. He was most energetic during his first and last songs, but for the rest he mostly stood there with his foot on a monitor. We had first row mezzanine seats and we were sitting. I actually dozed off!

Joe Satriani: Joe's set was very good, I love watching Joe jump around, but the only new song was Super Colossal, and I couldn't help feeling like I'd seen the set before. Maybe I've seen Joe too much lately: G3 '07, Joe's tour in '06, Deep Purple in '05 and G3 '03. Plus the DVD from the last tour.

Jam: The jam was great. I especially liked Jumpin' Jack Flash. Plus Johnny A joined the jam! A bonus!

Never have I seen such an amazing group of musicians share the same stage in my life! Sound was great, especially during the jam. It was especially nice to see that they all respect each other's ability and you could tell, they were all having a blast up there. Each band had a unique set, and were in top form. Paul is extremely fast and it was great to see him and Bruce work together to share some really complicated two part harmonies with exellent comand. The crowd responded great to Paul sneaking in the solo on his electric from "I'm the one that wants to be with you" from Mr. Big. I never realized, it's actually a fairly complex little solo. John's set included songs from his album, and ones I'm familiar with from G3 Tokyo. It was amazing to acually see "Glaskow Kiss' live. Of course Mr. Portnoy did not disappoint. It was entertaining to see his showmanship, from stick tosses, to amazing fills, he added a whole other element to the show. Not to mention he is one of the worlds top drummers'. At one point he tosses a stick off to stage left, and continued to play high-hat/snare with one hand, then, catching it as it was tossed back, and playing without missing a beat. The crowd really enjoyed Johns set. Next came Joe. I love how his set opens with a deep bass sound that continues to grow louder untill Joe cuts in. He opened with "War". He riffled through several hits from "Surfing". The set ended with "Always with me.....", at the end of the song it turns into a G3 with John and Paul coming in to add solo's to Joe's song, Cool! Great jam on Purple Haze, and Foxey Lady. On the last jam, "Jumpin Jack Flash', Joe stepped out to let Bruce back on stage to Jam. It was wierd to see Joe on stage without a guitar. Paul at one point, pulled out his drill and played through some sweep arpegios. All in all, a terific show-Thank you guys! I saw Joe last year at Berkley in Boston, after the show, we met him on the way to his bus, he signed some autographs etc. We waited for almost 2 hours after this G3 show to meet Joe, but he did not appear? We saw almost everyone else come out including Paul and his wife. Jeff Camp, Galen,Paul's band memebers, even met Dave Larue on the street and he stopped to shake our hands. Somehow, they were able to sneak Joe to his bus? This was the only part of the night that could have been beter. It would have been nice to say Hi,and thank you, to Joe without paying the $150-$300 just to do so. Still love Joe, still the best and always inspiring- Great experience, keep the rock alive!

What a great show, Paul Gilbert and band rocked! It was a little funky watching him wearing the isolation headphones. John Petrucci and band kicked ass. It was cool to see John's kids sitting at the side of the stage, and even cooler, to see them run up and hug him after the set. What can you say about Joe, "You Da Man", The set selection was great, Very cool, how John and Paul, kinda slipped into the jam at the end. Very cool surprise to see Johnny A, jam with the boys. The sound was awesome, as were the lights. I was 6 rows from the stage, and could hear his guitar through his cabs, his tone was just "sick". I going to the show in Washington DC on the 13th, and can hardy wait!
