Q: Was there a point in your life, maybe an event that inspired you to learn to get involved with music, guitar, singing. When i was 14, my best friend (same age) who loved guitar, inspired by his grandfather he decided to learn, unfortunatly he died of hodgkins disease at 15, i continued his passion, and also found that i enjoyed playing. Although i do not read music, i have learnt by ear and eye from many groups such as pearl jam, metallica, pantera etc, i only first heard you in march 2001, from listening i have wondered what drove you to success as a guitarist. You are by far my greatest living inspiration these days, because your tunes, especially your recent ones have an eiry feeling to them, a tranquil feeling. please answer my question, what drove you or inspired you about guitar/singing? -as i have put time to asking it. yours sincerely Rawiri Smith
