Hi! So great to see Joe writing comments in this forum:-D I hope that he will be coming to Europe again soon. I have one question for Joe. Right after the concert in Stockholm, were you signing autographs outside the hall??
Best wishes B.
PS You were sooo cool at concert. You looked cooler then any other performer I have seen:)
Webmaster, what about the Dec 27th show in LA which is listed on Ticketmaster?
Will we have the opportunity to win passes for that also, as I'm already in on that
Hey Joe, I'm Joel. But I remember when i was younger my bro was a huge fan of yours, and still is. He got me hooked on the awesome powe that is Joe! i doubt you remember him, but my brother used to talk to you when he worked at aol. it was cool, cause you didn't want him to tell everbody your name. But anyways, on to my question... There has been a huge debate on weather you actually did the guitar for the Top Gun theme. That is a real cool song. But I have been wondering if it's true you did it or not. Different Joe fans have told me different things. But, I'm really not sure how to read this if you answered me or not, but if you could, could you e-mail me? Zildjian152@home.com Thanks and keep ruling the guitar seas.
*Oh yeah, if you could, if he still is your drummer, caould you tell Jonathan Mover ,that he's my hero. I've played drums for 3 years, and everyime i listen to that drum solo on time machine, i alwyas hear something i can't do. But see ya.

Hey what's up Joe? You rock! I'm an 11-year old blues guitarist and will be turning 12 soon. I play pretty good but you play like 9/10 better than me man. I website if you'd like to visit it. Here's the URL: www.randypreston.com
I've played with Bernard Allison and Chris Duarte and many other local bands. I also play at a jam night at a club down the street. And one of the most popular magazines in New Jersey is going to have an ad for my website in it. I don't know if you've heard of it: Jersey Style. Keep on rocking and I can't wait to get your new album (I will be soon.)

Actually, XROB, if Bush is elected without the popular vote, it will be the fourth time in this country's history. In the past, John Quincy Adams was electe that way in 1824, Rutherford Hayes in 1876, and Benjamin Harrison in 1888. None of those three obtained a plurality of the popular vote. Some might say the electoral college is unfair- maybe it is- but I don't think it's any more unfair than the fact that California and Rhode Island have the same number of Senate seats. In any case, the electoral college does not serve its original purpose anymore. The framers of the Constitution didn't want the excitable masses choosing the president, but rather wanted a few supposedly dispassionate, reasonable people to do the voting, taking into account the popular vote. Now, the college members are just puppets. I think the college should be reformed, so that within a state, electors are proportionally split according to the popular vote (for example, Florida would cast, say, 13 votes for Bush and 12 for Gore, given the current popular count). Maine and Nebraska already do this. But the original idea of tempering the opinion of a public that I believe is widely ignorant is valid. I think too many people say, "I just like *name* better," but they really have no idea why. Not voting is better than uninformed voting.
XROB - i believe it happened 3 times before, but it was far too long ago...... and jesse jackson wasnt around to stir sh*t up either, the satch site server is Apache/1.3.11 (Unix) mod_perl/1.21 PHP/4.0b3 DAV/0.9.15 MARTY FRIEDMAN FOR G3!!!
Since there is a split between the total pop vote and the electoral college vote (never happened before), I think they should make them BOTH be president! :) ======= Make 'em spend every minute of every day with each other for the next for years! Neither one would enter the next election, I guarantee it!!! HAHA!

Joe or webmaster!!How are we able to buy tickets online for the Filmore show on dec 28th.Will it through the webpage or Ticketmaster. If i could get a response ASAP that would great. Thanks Rattlesnake!
Hi there,
I am a new member to the fan club, and a relativley new member of Joe Satriani's listening audience, and was wondering if you could help me in some of my enquiries;
I am involved in a Joe Satriani Tribute Band called 'Satch' based in Leicestershire, in the United Kingdom. We start gigging in the new year, and our primary target is to combine high standards of musicianship with great excitement, and to give an authentic Satriani feel to the live performances.
We feel the only way we can do this is try to replecate a genuine Joe Satriani setlist, mixed in with a handful of of other guitar master songs such as Jimi Hendrix and Gary Moore.
If you could provide me with some information on some setlists preferably from the Crystal Planet tour, I, and the band members will be very grateful. If your feeling very, very nice indeed; could you also send me some information of Jeff's kit as I am the drummer in the group, I will be forever in debt.
Keep up the good work Joe + Co.
Matt.
Joe ... thanks for responding to the comments, we all know you are busy. With all respect, could you try to do it a little more often? Maybe one response to one worthwhile comment a week? It is stuff like this that sets you apart from other performers. Thanks! (Play "Silent Night" Live. Check out Dave Martone from canada, wow good.)
Hi Joe, Jeff, Eric, and Stu! Hope you guys all have a safe trip out to Arizona for the show tomorrow night and that you all come back safely for the California shows!!! By the way, just a few questions for you webmaster....I'm interested in knowing when exactly, online, we will be able to buy the tickets for the House of Blues Show and how many will we be able to purchase at that time? I already am aware that it is tomorrow(11/11/00), it's the time that I am most concerned about. My credit card is ready, I just want to know when to punch in the numbers:) Thank you in advance for your assistance in this matter:)----Sheila
democrats suck, they tax you too much to pay for all the worthless programs and extra government (hence big government) employees they hire, you get taxed when you get married, and taxed when you DIE! no joke....... thats why we have an enormous surplus! from too much taxation, anyhow i cant find crushing days on napster...... someone must have it, a joe satriani - pat matheny thing would be kickass, i havent listened to him much cause i'm not into his style but i have seen him on tv a few times and he seems like pissed off or something hahaha, MARTY FRIEDMAN FOR G3 !!! hey did you notice al gore will say anything to be president? his father said "my boy was born to be president" al gore wants to be president so bad that he is now going to sue to be president, one of them should just say "this sh*t has gone to far let so and so be president" and give it a go next time......sure president of the united states is a cool title (used to be pre-1998 anyway) but one of these guys have to be more mature than "i won gimme now" al gore got the popular vote, he should be president even though thats not how it works.......the people picked him though so.... HEY JOE, I live in Orlando, but am in Mesa, AZ 'til Sunday. I'll be @ Cave Creek. I was wondering, about what time are U going to take the stage? That would be helpful to know. Hope you enjoy your stay in AZ. L8R
Hi everybody! JOE: AT WHAT TIME WILL YOU HIT THE STAGE TOMORROW? WHO WILL BE IN YOUR BAND? STU & JEFF? WE NEED SOME INSIDER INFO! PLEASE!!! So ELPP will show up tomorrow at Cave Creek, after all. With his Fan club T-Shirt and his copy of Outbound (in case Stu does show up). Man, by the way, what a kickaZZ CD. Let's hope that the road is not snowed anymore. See you tomorrow! Later.
Hey Joe,
I have been trying to teach myself guitar for a while now and I use your music as inspiration. I don't have much musical talent just a lot of dedication. I play for the pleasure of playing and really don't care to be in a band.
With that in mind I was wondering where could someone find the music for "Z.Z.'s Song"? I can read a little bit of music, but what works best is the chord sequence and time.
BTW I think you are one of the greatest guitarist I've ever heard. Have you ever considered doing anything with Alice Cooper. I love his work and a lot of famous musicians do work on his albumns. If you have done something with him let me know so I can find it and listen.
Thanks for your time

hi joe! You are my inspiration in playing the guitar.I love listening to your music and to your songs. Just this morning, I was trying to transcribe "summer song" but it was hard especially to the fast-picking parts. Joe, do you have some comments in improving the way i play the guitar. I wish I was like you but I know that no one can match your super skill.

I bought "Crushing Days- A Tribute To Joe Satriani" on Saturday, November 4th in Toronto. I HOPE JOE READS THESE COMMENTS! As some of you may know, Amazon.com has a pre-order date of January 1, 2010, which intrigued me. I wrote them and they said that it hasn't been released in the American market yet and until they get specific release information, they put down 2010 as a sort of "dummy" date. You know what I mean. Anyway, the tracks on this album are: 1. "Crushing Day" by Slav Simanic 2. "Big Bad Moon" by Joboj 3. "Ice Nine" by Rob Balducci 4. "Satch Boogie" by Kelly Jones 5. "Summer Song" by Carl Roa 6. "Crush of Love" by Dave Martone 7. "New Day" by Terry Syrek 8. "Driving at Night" by Michael Chlasciak 9. "Why?" by Steve Mannocchi 10. "Always With You, Always With Me" by Ron Thal 11. "Hordes of Locusts" by Steve Booke. Most of these tracks are done in a pretty standard fashion, but two of them are real standouts. First, "Always With You, Always With Me" sounds VERY different from the original. It has a very cool jazzy ambient feel to it. A very nice tribute that shows that different is definitely good! Secondly, Michael Chlasciak absolutely destroys the feel of "Driving at Night." He did the song with heavy distortion, which is just plain wrong to me. I always loved the feel of the original. Very cool bass gives it an ambient sort of feel. "Driving at Night" by Michael Chlasciak has none of that feel. It could be compared to Pantera doing a love song; it's just not gonna work! Other than this song, though, I like this album. It is very tastefully done and really, it's about time someone thought of a tribute album like this! I'd give it 4 out of 5 stars if I was rating it. I'd like to say I know when it's going to be released in the States, but I can't. In fact, I was VERY surprised when I saw it in Toronto! I figured something like this would come out in the States first! I gave the track listing and contact information from the back cover to Amazon.com. They wrote back and said 'thanks,' that they'd give the track information and the fact that it's a tribute album to the appropriate department and they said they were glad that I was able to add this album to my collection. Only time will tell if they add any of the info I gave them to their listing. Again, I HOPE JOE READS THESE COMMENTS, HINT, HINT! I'd like to know what he thinks of this album (if he's heard it yet) and what he has to say about it. Here's hoping! P.S. My e-mail address is ripplinbuckethead@hotmail.com, Joe! If you don't write to me, at least put your own thoughts on the comment page, please! Thank you.
Joe,you have a lot of fans in china.Welcome to china and take a concert on hangzhou or shanghai. Please! Please! Please!
And,my friends and me play your songs all day and all night! We want to see youself!
it has occured to me from time to time that some sort of joint effort between Joe Satriani and Pat Metheny would really yield some wonderfully creative sounds...

hey joe if you could reply to this it would make me very happy and grateful, this may sound like a stupid question but your slow songs really depress me and i was wondering how you do it. like what are the intervals you use. for instance the song "thinking of you" is an excellent example of this. thanks
Joe or Webmaster: I think running "polls" on your website about unproven voter fraud only contributes to the media chaos which will make it more difficult to get to the truth, the system is not perfect...as far as that goes neither is anyone's music ...including Joe's (as he will be the first to tell you)We all respect everyone's opinion just as we love & respect Joe's musical "perspective" You are free to express it even on a website that influences young minds, but consider what effect your expressed opinion has on other people before you just "put it out there" Hey, I'd rather discuss guitar effects, altered tunings, & hear if Joe ever received an appropriate apology from that last concert fiasco...give us a "media break" from all that other

Hi Joe, today I went to my favorite music store here in Rome and there sitting on the counter was a particular looking guitar - and so I say "Cool, a Chrome Boy Replica!" Owner Replies: "It's the Original - not a Replica," I nearly had a heart attack!! Anycase, just to let you know that seeing and, of course, touching one of your guitars turned what had started as VERY lousy day completely around. Thanks and regards to your family. By the way, if I buy it (the Chrome Boy) any chance of getting about a gadzillion lessons from you...?
Ciao
Gaash (GS)- rolling yor finger when sweep picking enables you to mute all the strings and only let the intended note sound. If you played a chord and slowly sweeped with the right hand, then all of the notes would sound one after the other but in the end they would all be sounding. The key thing with 'sweep picking' is that only one note sounds at a time so all of the other notes have to be muted will one is sounding. [Jeez this is difficult to describe but I could show you in minutes]. 'Rolling' your fingure means that the pressure you are applying to make a note sound moves with the sting that is being picked. A simple experiment is to place your 1st finger on the 6th string [any fret] and pick [downwards]. Your finger is lightly touching the other strings [muting them]. As the pick continues to move downwards to the 5th string you roll your finger very slightly so that the 5th can ring and the others are muted. Keep on going until you get to the first string. The pivot for the roll is your wrist and the axis is parallel to the neck. This means that your knuckles move towards you and your finger tips move away. The movement is very slight. I hope that this isn't too confusing to read. It's not easy to describe in a post but I hope that the principle is understandable. Try it with the lower half of a chord [from the 3rd / 4th string down to the first].======= Franz Schubert for G3.
ATTENTION ALL U.S. VOTERS: The world will NOT come to an end if the presidential candidate you voted for isn't elected. Whether you think half of Americans are mindless or not, you're not gonna win every time. Personally, I agree with Ya Yo about Gore, although I'm not quite so extreme in my views. I think Gore is a bit too socialist for my vote. I want to live in a democracy, not a socialist state. I believe the federal government has no business deciding where my money goes. If they don't need my tax money, they shouldn't take it! But i digress. The point of this post is, please don't go around whining if the person you voted for isn't elected. What matters is that your voice was heard. Remember, opinions are like, ummm.. anuses: everyone's got one, and they're also difficult to replace or change.

Jut thought I'd give some info on "Crushing Days",a tribute CD from Europe (UK) that many have asked about. Players inclued: Halford guitarist MICHAEL CHLASCIAK,Magic Elf guitarist CARL ROA,RON THAL,KELLY JONES,DAVE MARTONE,TERRY SYREK,and others. There are eleven tracks in all. I have no idea what the quality of this disc is,but it might be interesting. DAAAAATTSSIITT.....
wim, will you marry me? O.K., I'm just kidding. But, we have a saying: "Right on the old nosey." People ussually wink and point to their nose when saying this; unfortunately, this is just the kind of down home exclaimation that would garner votes, as opposed to voicing progressive slants on socially relevant issues. The Prime Minister of England has noted that Americans don't vote on the issues. This is kind of ironic in that I was under the belief that the USA broke off from England due to certain 'issues'. FACT: republicans are actually the missing link (part Yeti); democrats are the part of the human race in the U.S. of A. with an eye to goals like continued biological evolution and social justice. SHRED6 - at last check there is a 4 hour posting limit, quit your snivlin (passes you a kleenex) WIM - al gore is a socialist, he should have ran on the socialist party ticket as a matter of fact...... read up on his $10 million take from the people's republic of china, Al Gore's father had deep ties with the USSR communist party. He helped a man by the name of Armand Hammer. Hammer had deep ties with the communists, including Lenin. Hammer was the communists way of tapping America's vast financial resources. Anyway, Al Gore's father had many business partnerships with Hammer.Al Gore believes Goverment should decide where your extra money should go.
-How Democratic is that? Al Gore believes the rich should be penalized for working hard.
-Since when was America founded on the principle of relaxing all day? Al Gore believes you have too much money.
-Since when does a democratic goverment control your personal surplusses? Al Gore wants to increas the size of goverment with over 20,000 new beurocrats.
-I wonder who will pay for this? Al Gore claims Bush's tax cut plan only affects the wealthy.
-Think about it. Bush wants to cut EVERYONE's taxes by 25%. The top 1% of income earners pay over 90% of the yearly goverment taxes. After the tax cuts, the top 1% will still be paying over 90% of the taxes.. Why?? Because EVERYONE is recieving the 25% tax cut. Down with the rich, up with the poor.
-It doesnt get anymore Communist then this. don't forget about guns....Al won't take away your gun ! he invented it for christ sake! along with the calculator, internet and florida's election laws......... voter fraud in florida ? quite possible, but if you go by what they are characterizing as voter fraud then every state had voter fraud..... i say have another election and get it right this time, declare a f***g winner and get it over with!!!! i'm starting to think it is a conspiracy, bill clinton doesnt want to leave office so he has created this in an attempt to stay in office! hey it could happen haha MARTY FRIEDMAN FOR G3!!!!

Satrivaisteen... - Literally using all 8 fingers AT ONCE to tap would (as Van Halen said of this very same question) end up being something of a 'Clusterf#ck'... a big mess of sound... There have been many people known for coming close to this style though, One of the guys in Night Ranger, Jennifer Batten(currently playing with Jeff Beck), & a few others.... Probably one of the very best at, however, was a guy named Stanley Jordan. Something of a melodic Jazz player whose style involded using all his fingers to tap. I haven't heard of him in the last several years (perhaps that style isn't all that popular... tapping that is... Oh hell, jazz either when it comes down to it LOL) but I did get to hear some of his stuff off one of his records a few years back - incredible stuff... (Marty's a bore - PAUL GILBERT for G3!!!!)
Hey Joe.Are the tickets for the Filmore show on dec 28th going on sale via your web page. Also ,what is in your cd collection. What are you influenced by besides Hendrix i.e.any other guitarists or musicans.

I am Dutch and I just felt to add a polittical note.
I am very surprised to see creative and hard thinkers to vote for Bush on this site...
I thought this would bre A Gore supporting site. I cant believe you could ever vote for this man..
Maybe I am just an outsider but i consider myself smart enough to find out that a marionette like Bush could never do the Country nor the world do any good.
I believe the US has a strong responsibility in containing world peace. I am a student architecture and i have a pretty rich family. In my country money is far less an arguement to vote for a certain person and i am proud of my free thinking country.
I think that the Us is such a hypocttic country... I have been the Us three times now and i respect it for being able to being the most important country in the world but if you enjoy Joes music, you should be able to understand you would never vote Republican, especially Bush.
Joe, i really am frustrated by finding out that the majority of Us citizens visiting your site votes for Bush... I love your music and i hope that if you ever take a greater step towards techno or electronic music that you shall find the fine line between being the best string-plucker alive and the best composer alive. Maybe not your ambition to the the bloody best in everything but anyway...
see you in Holland
Whew...living in Mississippi bites. No bands that I really want to see ever come near here. I should move to California after high school. Then I can see some Satriani.....
Ya-Yo.... I know what it is, I just don't agree with it. The Electoral College was installed over 200 years ago and I think it is outdated. It takes to much power away from the people. I actually teach at a high school in east boston, massachusetts and my students feel the same way. They are only 10th graders! Anyway.....MARTY FRIEDMAN FOR G3! (for you Ya-Yo)
I don't think Kirk could do a G3 because he is more focused on a position in a band. Marty Friedman for G3 though!!!!!!!!! ohhh man, I have a planned vacation with my family to go to Arizona on the 12th. Then I noticed Joe was playing A DAY BEFORE. AHHHHHHHHH!!!! I'm only 17 so not sure how I can get there a day before if I can.
Take care

HI JOE!!!!!!!, i am a very biggest fan of you i am from Chile, and i see you in te show in Santiago, the last 10 august. Iam a very very fan of you, i am listening every song of you, my favorites are HOME, RIDE, ALWAYS. Please, just tell me HELLO, i wait to your answer.
And, sorry for my english, en español, espero que me contestes, porque todavía tengo la emoción de haberte visto.
Hey Joe:
I won't say that I'm your biggest fan because you have a lot of fans; however, I will say that I practically worship the ground you walk on, I own all of your albums and every tablature book available on them, and I have religiously purchased every magazine I can find that has an interview with you in it. I think you have created a body of music that is staggering in both its artistry and its implications for the future of both the electric guitar and the nature of formal composition. I would put you in the same company as John Coltrane, Thelonius Monk or Stan Goetz. The day will come when jazz real books everywhere will include at least one J. Satriani chart. In the meantime, I love creating my own improvisations in the context of your tunes whether they are recognized standards or not.
I am a junior at UC Santa Barbara; the music faculty here is made up of some of the brightest musical minds on the planet, and it is an honor to study with these people. It would be nice to be a recording artist someday, but I have been giving private guitar and piano lessons for 6-7 years and I find it immensely rewarding; if I finish a graduate degree, I can teach for the rest of my life and that suits me fine- anything to stay inside the music, any way I can. I don't really care very much about money.
I have some oddball questions for you: What do you think/how do you feel about Beethoven? Is his music much of an influence on you? Some of your melodies capture that same spirit of transcendence and mysticism. Is your soloing influenced by the cadenzas of Beethoven, Liszt, or Chopin? I can see definite similarities, even if it's unintentional. Also, was Coltrane a direct influence on you, or was it more indirectly through the work of Allan Holdsworth? Have you run into Allan recently? Was he drinking a Theigston's Olde Peculier, by any chance? (If the answer is yes, then ROCK ON, man). And finally, what do you think of PHISH?
I hope to catch a live show again soon; I don't know if I can get to LA this fall because my car sucks, but hopefully next spring or summer... I'll be watching the web... sincerely, David M. Shere
Hi Joe. Can you give us a rundown of what kind of arrangement you played for the National Anthem during the Mets/Giants series? What was the arrangement like? What kind of guitar/amp combo did you use? What kind of guitar sound? I think there are a lot of us who would like to know and see a clip here on the web site. Thanks!
whats up? i saw the "all alone" clip few says ago its cool clip i liked it.
are you gonna make clips for EOC?? did you do for Crystal Planet?? what about DvDs?? any live preformence is available on DvD??(exept G3) hope you see my add
and answer me. your #1 fan in ISRAEL
Hey Joe, love your music. I have a guitar question I wanted to ask you. I'm having difficulty with improvising. I can improvise pretty easily over one or two chords, but when there are a lot of chord changes, and they come real fast, I have a really tough time. When I start thinking about all the scales and stuff, I sound pretty boring. The thing is, when I just forget about scales and chords and just go with the music, it sounds okay. Id like to be able to improvise well like you and most jazz guitarists. I was wondering if you have any tips for me on improvising over lots of chord changes. Also, do you believe it's always necessary to be grounded in the "correct" scales?? Do you eever just totally play atonal? Thanks Joe. Bye
Hi joe, how do you go about getting melodies in your songs? do you just noodle and see what you come up with, or do you structure them in a way where you write out some 'scale fragments' and form them in to melodies??.....it would be intresting to know...also do you have a simple approach on writing or playing melodies and a more complex approach on writing and building your solo ideas?? i always thought you go for the simple but very effective melodies, and a more challenging way to form your solos.......thats just how i hear it..........hope to hear from you soon.....see you later joe.....
Actually, Ya Yo Gakk, Gore served in Vietnam and Bush did not. Military people are aware of this fact and it very well could help Gore's cause. Moreover, many of the people who serve in our military come from inner-city and underprivileged backgrounds that are traditionally democratic strong holds...so, who knows...the absentee ballot is not the certainty for Bush some think it might be, I can tell you that.
SO GUYS, I REALLY LOVED THE SHOW IN BIRMINGHAM, (ENGLAND) LAST JUNE. I'M NEW TO THE INTERNET SO IT HAS TOOK ME THIS LONG TO SAY... Mr Satriani i have been playing guitar for 3 years.
I am having trouble with the sweep picking part in crushing day
any advice on how to complete it smoothly. "cheers"
Hi Joe
I wanna say that you are the best enstrumantal guitarist for me and ý am a fan of you:))
But there is a problem about me and all the fans of you who lives in turkey.
We want you to come there and show us your live performance.
Steve Vai came there and ý think he liked Turkish people.
So please come to our country and show us your best.
NASO - the electoral college was set up to cut the field down from say 4 or 5 candidates way way back in the early days then the senate would decide who the president was out of the remaining candidates, it is an outdated system, the popular vote winner should win ! i think they need to change it, of course the loser would say the same thing hahaa...... i think the recount will favor bush, and the overseas military absentee ballots will definetly favor bush seeing as the clinton/gore administration has done everything but disasemble the military as we know it...... we will see, it is quite interesting!!!! MARTY FRIEDMAN FOR G3 !!! last time i checked there were 6 people saying MARTY for G3, i think Marty wins the popular vote!
yes and what is the CRUSHING DAYS album about? and what about my question below?? MEGADETH ROCKS! ....then again....JOE ROCKS MORE! --BIGGEST JS FAN EVER (Richard Haier)
And the winner is........(drum roll)........(skin on drum snaps open)........(repaired)........(drum still rolling)........here's to hoping Gore got one more vote in Fl than he needs. I just couldn't stand watching ANOTHER republican screw up the economy AGAIN. The only republican that has not screwed up the economy this century was Ike and he had the post war expansion to lean on. Depresion? Republican in office. Recession? Republican in office. Inflation? The doozy of them all: Nixon. Moral: democrats spend money, take care of foks, and that's o.k. by me.

hi joe i am one of your greatest fan. i'm writing to u from algeria, and my question is about the legato cause iwould like to have a legato like yours and tell me please how can i work to get it. i can do alot of techniques (ecxuse me for my english i know it is very bad):): ) i can play jason becker's sweep , richie kotzen,s etc.. etc.. but your legato is a little problem for me. i studied in the M A I of nancy france in 1993 and it was called in 1993 the C M C N BUT THEY CHANGED ONLY THE name OF THE SCHOOL. I KNOW THAT you've done a master class there i think too years ago, but i was unlucky cause i couldn't see u. the only time when i saw u it was in may 1998 with steve vai(god bless him), and adrian legg for the G3 in Paris and i was in the front(1st). i was head banging like a mad man and in the end of your marvalous show,i lost my voice for 2 too days. with a lot of respect

Hey Joe,just a thought, why don't you come out with a "4th songs" CD. I think that would be cool because the 4th track on every one of CD's are very melodic and well thought out. Hey all you joe heads what do you think? lets hear some responses. Also everyone, go to the Neil Zaza site. Their are pictures of Joe and Neil jammin' together. later. Mark:o)

Joe, how are you? Any chance of coming to Australia to do a few shows? instrumental rock is pretty non-existant here. So you'll have to come over and kick all our asses with your wonderful music. Next year I hope to start a band and get right into writing good and meaningful songs. you are my main inspiration with all the emotion put into your songs. anyhoo i gotta skedadle. You da man!!!!

hey joe!!! i so TOTALLY cant wait till you rock the house at the cave creek music festival in phoenix on the 11th!! what time are you taking the stage?? don't want to miss a ANYTHING!!! ;-) rock on! :-)
Just got Eric Johnson's new c.d. Alien Love Child ~ Live and Beyond. Aaahhh, sweet! If you haven't heard it, your missing a great c.d. I'm so tired of all this election hooha. T.V. coverage, signs cluttering up the streets, phone calls to my house "Hi, I'm calling on behalf of the Democratic/Republican party and we're asking you to do the right thing this year and vote Democratic/Republican". I even got a recorded message from Al Gore himself! lol! Geez man, lets just be done with it. Now their showing hours of "projected" who won what state. Just the facts PLEASE! I was all excited earlier today, and I was proud to take my 9 yr. old son to the polls with me, but I can't wait till it's over. This t.v. reporting is like watching paint dry - BORing! Don't get me wrong, it's great that we have the privelige to do all this, and I wouldn't give it up for the world, but it would be nice if they could make it more factual and less "projected". Oh well, nice try George. Congratualtions Al. Long live the Queen : } michelle@mypillowiscallingmyname.com
Hello Joe and everybody out there. Joe, you are GOD!. You are the best guitarist in the universe. I am 17 and play guitar. I have to say you are my biggest influence and fan and have inspired me so much into pursuing my music. You are the best musician in the world!!! Joe, I was just wondering that if you had any free time weather you could checkout some of my mp3s at www.mp3.com/fairfaxstudio to give me your opinion. But the matter what I just want to say that you are so amazing! Thank you for giving the world such wonderful music!

Question for Joe or Webmaster: Will the Phoenix concert be outdoors? What if it snows (right now it's snowing in New Mexico, border state)? Basically my main concern would be making it to Phoenix (I'm in El Paso, TX) only to find the concert cancelled. Any help? Thanks. Later.

Joe,how did you like playing with Neil Zaza? I think he has a style sort of like yours. He is very melodic and is very versitle. what do you think? Please let me know. Mark :o)Also I think he would be very good for your next G3 tour.if I may be so bold!!!!!!!!!!!
GO VOTE. The Gore y Bush poll is a statistical dead heat. Nader was the guy that got the turbo Corvair Spider off our streets. Not too cool, eh? What kind of consumer advocate is this guy, anyway? Sammy Kablami and the Kablooie Orchestra for G3.
Hi Joe, Wondering if you mic your amps (If so what mics) or direct in your signal. (Refering to your sound on Engines of Creation) If you could let me know, you'll really help me out! Thanks Much! Colin.
CC44 - it said "This item will be released on January 1, 2010. You may order it now and we will ship it to you when it arrives. " i don't think i would remember ordering it in 10 years man !!! hahaa.... MARTY FRIEDMAN FOR G3 !!!
Andrew (Andrew M) (joesat3@hotmail.com): I actually have two of those:
the Legacy (1/2 stack) and the DS-1. The guitar is an old Ibanez with the
stock pickups. I never use the DS-1... I think it obscures the good sound of
the tubes. If you must use it, I guess I would turn the dist. way down and
put the tone a little over half so there's a little more bite but less
compression. The Legacy, I take the mid like all the way down to like 2 or
less, with the Pres. giving more bite to the sound than the treble control. I
have the gain maxed. And that is the sound that people freak for, that
cyber-Les-Paul sound.\\\\\\\\\\ Question for Joe (or other music theory
maniacs): is there an easy way to spell out Ornette Coleman's
Harmolodic theory? Nobody will give me a straight answer on what it is, or
how to apply it! Vernon Red used to talk about it all the time.... Later, Eric.
Hi Joe,
I hope you have been doing well since I saw you back stage at the Moore
Theater in Seattle. I hit some hard times and am getting divorced now but I
am back on my feet now. I am putting together about 7 songs for you and Bill.
I have met some other people that want me to record and maybe even some
record contracts buy I have to get my $#!% together before I can do anything.
I really like your new songs you came up with, I think it is more like your
older songs. You can always e-mail me (jacobandrew7@excite.com)

Hi Joe!
Since a long time I have been astonished by your ability to create great guitar music, but I wonder about one thing which I consider very important for musicians in general: listening to music. What music do you listen to? And what do you think of that opinion, that listening well is even more important than being able to, let's say, sweep-pick? What do you think of The Edge of U2? In my mind he is one of the most unique guitarists around, because he uses effects in such a great way. Do you listen to him/are you inspired by him? He's of course no hyper-technician, but neither is B.B. King, and he kicks ass too!
Greetz Paul
Hey Joe hope you're doing good. I was wondering, after the huge success of Carlos Santana's last album, did you ever consider doing an album with various singers? Didn't that go like 7x platinum? And Tony iommi just did the same thing.....maybe it would be a good idea. Like a song with Beck. ANd maybe Tracy Thorn, who would be great with your signature guitar playing. Also, you strike me as a person who likes all sorts of music. But I understand you can't stray too far from what your fan base wants to hear. If you could make any album you want, what kinda stuff would you make? I dunno about your other fans, but for me, the weirder the better. ANd if you ever decide to go crazy and make an acoustic, chamber pop album, I would definitely stand behind you. PEACE
Hey everybody. Just wanted to let you know that there is a tribute album to Joe Satriani called "Crushing Days." You can make a reserve on a copy of it at Amazon.com. Hi Joe, hows it goin? I was on eof the people at the show in Virgina, at the norva. Wanted to see when your going to come back. Maybe on G3? Cant wait to you come back. Shawn
CHACOTACO - i think he used soldano amps on that, BIGGEST JS - ya! gotta stay 1 step ahead of the law......and wolfie ! angry again is badass..... go to hell is also really cool! maybe try that one...... MARTY FRIEDMAN FOR G3 !!! peace...
I agree with Punkrock. Nuno and George need a comeback. And what better way than with the Guitar messiah (that's you) Is Musicians Institute any good. I've read the brochure and it's heaps better than any of the music schools in Australia. You're the greatest.
HEY EVERYBODY, PLEASE VISIT www.angelfire.com/rock/chromeboy I NEED PEOPLES FEED BACK TO IMPROVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can't wait for the online fans to finally get a chance at good seats.. I was 4th in line at the Tampa Theatre. The site where he was playing and still ended up in the back.. Show was GREAT no matter where I sat. Would have been icing on the cake to see it up close and personal.

OK all you "guitar slingers"....stop practicing all those riffs & let your voices be heard...get out & vote tomorrow...maybe for the "least of the evils", but do exercise your right...It's a good country that allows all the freedoms we enjoy....especially the freedom of musical expression!...Tell them Joe,it's,
not like this everywhere!
Say Joe/Webmaster thanks for the info. on the new show tickets & I like the sound of us online fans getting a chance at some tickets first! Now maybe I can get a better spot to see the show! Thanks alot again, I'll be watching for the news as to when we get the green light!!! Later Joe/Webmaster
Dear Sir / Ma'am,
I really enjoy your show (via internet) and especially that fact that you somehow manage to get your point across in a blunt yet respectful manner.
I was hoping to appeal to your support of the local music scene by asking you if you could find the time to review via e-mail some of my tracks listed on either of the sites below. If you can find the time it would be greatly appreciated if not I thank you for your time and ask that you send a short reply stating just that.
The tracks I feel will be least offensive and of the greatest interest to you are "This Kind of Man", "King of my World", "What the Hell", "Foot Stompin' Music" and a cover of the Queen classic "Fat Bottomed Girls".
Thank you for your valuable time!
Sincerely,
Mark Clinton Hicks

Hallo Joe! I just dropped by to tell u that ya song "The luminous flesh giants" is a great song to wake up to after an sinusis operation, a had a few so know what im talking about. I don't know if it's the drugs, u get during and after the operation, that gives u a warm feeling of love'n'good having stuff. Don't get me wrong, i'm not a junkie. It's just that ya music hits me some where deep inside that makes the healing process after the operation a whole lotta easier.
Thank u for bringing ya strange beautiful music to us in Sweden and Huddinge Hospital in Stockholm.
Yo Joe, how ya doin?
I just got a few things to say while I'm here.
1.What do u think of the Smashing Pumpkins? I just saw them in Glasgow (scotland) and they were awesome.
2.A wee guitar trick for u all out there that I've started to use a lot for open string vibrato that doesn't use the trem arm although u do need one. Fret any string eg. g 8ve (4th string 12th fret), pick b string open, bend up the fretted note. This brings up the trem unit and drops the pitch of the played string. Remember u don't actually play the fretted string. (Cunnig huh!!!)
3.Why don't u start a lessons page including the odd gem of info (pitch axis theory took me a while to get it workin but it sounds great now).
4.Keith More, Jimi Savage, and Me for G4
5.Somebody mentioned a B3 once, that would be cool!(Stu)
6.Anybody in Edinburgh (Scotland) wanna Jam?????????
Phatman_dave :-)
Joe, I know this is a long shot but if you care to help me out here I'd be grateful. I read with intrest that Lennie Tristano persuaded his pupils to play devoid of any emotional content. Is this true, and therefore how come you seem to excel in expressing your emotions through the guitar?
Joe, I'm playing "Cryin'" in January and would like some pointers on how to play the song.I'm mainly having trouble with the middle section before the melody repeats.Anybody have pointers please let me know at dragoonfox255444@aol.com.Thank You.
hello....how r u doing.....
would u give me some tips how to play best like u.......
i've got an idea....why u didn't play altogether in "one" with axl rose, sebastian bach, billy seehan, sting, nuno b, yngwie, steve vai, lars ulrich, igor cavalera.......in one song or more.....i thing it'll be the best for world music......there's so many character inside 'cause the name of yours was going around the world.......it just an idea.......bye
JOE can you please tell me about the mad artificial harmonic that you do a lot when you slide your hand right down to the 24th, can anyone help ppplllleeeaaaassssseeeeee
Also are there any satch videos available to buy other than G3 i cant find any, and webmaster , can we buy online.

Hi all:) Hi Joe:) Great news with the box-set. Things have moved forward and it
shall now be coming out in the New Year. The free MP3 download of the "Thong
Song" has now finished, but don't worry fans. I had 27 hits on my site so I am
going to put another track up for download. Busy in the studio finishing off the
mix. The seven-string is again back in action. This one is a 12 minute ragga-tip
version of Britneys "Baby on more time". NASO: Joe e-mailed me today and said he
was too busy to answer at the moment, but the best finger exercises, he said,
were ones where you stretched your fingers. Gotta go. Bye all. Check out the
site. www.addamfox.com. Bye all...
Hey Joe, Thanx for the info on the symetrical scale. If you can, come and play NYC again. Your always welcome near your old town. I've turned some new friends on to your music and they would definitely love to come see you. Thanx again Damien
Hey, Joe. Sorry man I totally missed out on the gig when ya played in Glasgow-Scotland. Could ya please let me know when ya plan to return to the 'Tartan Country' cause I would love to see ya play an'I need some inspiration.
'Engines of Creation', a masterpiece, by the master. Totally inspiring to see the least.
Hope to see ya soon. Keep burning!!!
Gary
Hi Joe,
Are you comming to Chicago any time soon? Last time I saw you was at House of Blues in Chicago for the Engines of Creation tour. I also met you at Tower Records that afternoon before the show, you signed my guitar (THANKS !!) and CD.
I've got two question for you: I've seen you use old Marshalls (plexi's), what
year do you most prefer to use and what do you look for in the old Marshalls?
Thank you for the music you've given us !!!
Edmon
Hey Sam Jones.... It's cool that you're interested in the legato technique. Most people don't really understand it - they think it's just a bunch of hammer ons-and-pull offs, and while the physical aspect is similar, the difference in true legato lies in that it doesn't have any staccato (beats of time - caused by the pick) elements, or breaks in it. Each note should sound cleanly and evenly spaced - but should have the audio effect of 'running water'... you can't really tap your foot to it...
There's a few tips I recommend... 1. Don't lift up your first finger while switching strings, but use a partial barre at the first(finger tip) joint that covers two strings at once - when switching from two sets of strings to two others - simply 'shuffle' or 'flange' the finger tip over to the next set without really lifting it off completely... this takes practice, but makes legato much quicker, easier and smoother. (Most pro players do this) 2. Before trying to cover the entire fretboard, start with smaller patterns instead - what I call 'circles of 6' can be helpful. For example; play six notes (3 notes per string)on your Sixth(big E) and fifth (A) string, using your first, third and fourth fingers in whole steps - ascending and then descending between them until it sounds like a 'circle'(with no breaks).. the ONLY note you'd pick (other than the first one) would be the one you have barred with your first finger while ascending to the next string, (not descending)- the rest are all hammered\pull'd off.. Of course, you'd pratice these 'circles' with all finger positions (1,2,4. 1,3,4 etc..) and in all fret positions and/or keys...
3. A low string action and lighter touch helps a lot - but initially I recommend really 'programming' the technique into your hands by practicing hard AND SLOWLY (perhaps even with a metrenome)with a slightly higher action, and really whacking each note clearly - with time your hands will speed up tremendously...
Hopefully these small ideas of mine will help you out a bit over time...
hi Joe I am thai and have lived in Bangkok. I want you to tour in Thailand
my question: I want to knw about song writing . when u desire to write one song what material you use to write it? You use guitar to create your song? or you create with your head not use guitar?

Joe - here's an idea for your website - how about an area where you list some CD's you've been listening to a lot lately? I know you're always into something new. I had never even heard of Crystal Method until I read your guitar.com interview & you mentioned them. I've been checking out little clips of their stuff on CDNow, I'm not sure if I'll buy it or not. Their music is a little on the dark side for my tastes. Are there any other electronic artists out there that you think are worth checking out?
HEY GUYS!!! HOWS IT GOING??? STUUUUUUU YOOU ROCK!!!!! ;) VEGAS WAS AWSOME!!! HATE TO BE IMPATIENT BUT...... when ya coming back???? Are you gonna tour for OUTBOUND??? Ya know... watching you play with Jagueres showed me just how good you really are...you can just lay down the groove, or tear it up!!! Thats great!!! Ever since Halloween I have been working on my slap/tap technique trying soooo hard to improve it!! Still having trouble with "Lucy & Linus", cant seem to play both parts together! :( But I keep trying!! You should try to come to Utah sometime... not Salt Lake... too far!! :) Although, I still would go!! Anyway... THANKS FOR THE INSPIRATION STUUU!!!Everytime I see your autograph on my bass, I want to play better!! :) HOPE TO SEE YOU SOON!!! STU HAMM, VICTOR WOOTEN, STEVE BAILEY....B3!!!! :) PEACE!!!
Hey Joe, where you goin' with that gun in your hand? Ha! I wonder how often you get that. Anyway, I was showing my friends that G3 video yesterday, and they just about wet their pants, especially when you do that thing where you walk (or whatever you want to call it) down your guitar during Cool #9. I was about ready to pull out the dry vac. They were laughing at Steve Vai (which kinda pissed me off) they called him fruity. I just said he's really spiritual about his music. At least they didn't say he sucked, they acknowledged his ability on the guitar (how could they deny it?). Two more things I gotta say: 1. How did you get such an amazing legato? Seriously, I hack away night after night just trying to develop liquid hands like yours and it's barely coming. Does the guitar you have have something to do with it? I got a cheap strat, maybe that's the problem. I've played nicer guitars and it's been a little easier, but not entirely.
2. How do you do that walk down thing or whatever? That's so cool.
Anyway, hope you can come and play in Utah some time. You're one of my favorite people to liston to. Engines of Creation is one of my favorite albums of all time, no kidding. Which is really kind of weird because I usually can't stand techno. But you did in such a way that it was amazing and beautiful, and totally worked together. I guess that's also in thanks to Eric Caudieux. Well, thanks for anyone who read this longwinded letter. Joe, you rule.
Sam Jones
Joe, thanks for the reply. Have you heard of guitarist Fareed Haque from Chicago yet? His website is www.fareed.com and he is well worth checking out.

I placed my vote then realized there was also a space for "not 18"... Well I don't care cause I'll be 18 exactly two weeks from today... I think they should change the law so that if you are 18 by Dec. 31st of this year you should be able to vote, it's not my fault I was born 12 days too late!!! It's frustrating!!! Oh, and uh, rock on Joe!
hey Joe,in what kind of mood were you when you wrote 'Love Thing'???????Cuz this song found his place directly in my heart.I get shivers everytime I listen to it:)!!!!!!!!!It would be great if you could explain it to me:)..jimbojim...

Hey Joe - I've noticed that you've been answering a lot of people's questions on here. I got one for ya that would be very helpful if you'd answer it. I have a band that plays covers, and we do a lot of yours. I would like to be able to match your tone. What settings would you use with the following: JS1000, a Carvin Vai Legacy Combo, and the Boss DS-1. Thanks! - Andrew PAUL GILBERT FOR G3!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey joe! got a question... You still give lessons to guitarists?? I mean private lessons like you did to steve vai. was the guitarist of PRIMUS also a pupil of yours? please let me know, Joe!! spanx, www.guitarpaultje.com

Hey Joe, I can't beleive your playing at Konocti in November. I bought tickets as soon as I heard! Looking forward to it! See ya then, (Table 16).

WHO CARES IF SOLOS ARE IMPROVISED? If they weren't, how on Earth could you write them and play the same thing each and every time? You might as well just listen to it on CD if you want to sound the same every performance. I'd rather hear different stuff each time. As a drummer I never play a song the same way twice on purpose. Most drumming is improvisation to the beat and style of music. Why should guitar solos be any different? If Joe wants to play something new why not? If he wants to play a thrash version of "I Believe" then good on him. If all the music sounds the same and IS the same every time, it gets very boring, no matter how good it is. At least if you improvise solos you're being original more often! < Hey everyone I'm not trying to be a argument starter here, I'm hoping to make a point and if anyone's offended I'm sorry but this is how it is! > HEY ALL MY UNIVERSITY EXAMS ARE OVER FOR ANOTHER YEAR!!! <> <> <> <> woohoo <> <> <> <>

Dear Mr. Satriani,
I have to call you 'Mr.' because i am only 15 and i want you to know what respect i have for you. I would just like to ask you if you remember me from the show you did in orlando florida in may of this year. I was the kid in the front row to your left. and i was going crazy!!! You waved at me a few times and threw me 2 picks! thank you so much!! the show was incredible and extremely inspiring...as i play the guitar as well. You and Neal Schon are 2 of the greatest guitar players that have ever lived. Now i know that your music reaches generally to older folks but i've spread your music to some of my freinds my age and they LOVE it!!!! right next to their limp and korn cd's is flying in a blue dream. I love watching their faces when they hear you for the first time. Well once again thank you for the greatest concert experience i've ever had.....Preston P.S......Have you ever heard of/met Neal Schon? You two would make the best guitar duo!!! ack....just got goosebumps....later......
Hey Joe, just wondering if you are planning a trip around New Zealand and Australia anytime in the near future. Steve Vai came down to Auckland, NZ at the start of the year, which was really cool, and it would be awesome if you could come down here. Also, what is the scale that you are using in the start of Borg Sex, it sounds very different. Thanks. King Tide a.k.a Hayden.
Hey Joe this is really cool I was wondering if you were at the Stevie Ray Vaughn concert in Austin Texas in 1989 becuase I have that live video and after Stevie played "Leave my Girl Alone" The camera turns to the audince and it shows about a five second clip of what it looks like to me is you. Your sitting beside a man with blonde hair and a woman with a brown sweater. You had a shirt that said something Jhonson but I couldnt make out the rest of it. It also looks like you have a hat and you could see your long hair sticking out of it. You also looked directly into the camera for about a second. I was just wonderig if that was you Joe and if it was I bet that cocert really rocked. Let me know joe if that was you or not Im dieing to find out. Vinne Moore or Gary Hoey for G3. Keep touring in LA Later Joe.
Hawkpilot - Libertarian all the way man! Actually, I don't agree with everything they say, but I do lean towards the Libertarian direction. Joe do you listen to Liquid Tension Experiment? Are they incredible or what?!!!
Joe I recommend you take a look at www.deanosheagroup.com, he is a new gitarist from the UK he ripps you off a bit, he teaches me to!
I would be very gratefull if you replied either on here or email me at dlde@rossalld.fsnet.co.uk and give me your opinion. Thankyou.

Hi Joe, Was listening to my own private recording of the webcast from 29th April 2000, you mentioned before Train of Angels “IT BRINGS ME WAY BACK, WHEN I WAS KID I USED TO GO TO THE FILMORE EAST TO WATCH PEOPLE REALLY PLAY” - Could you reveal who these people were. Regards Sparrow.
Not to mention, GUTTERBOY, that that doesn't even make any sense.("...improvising is not the best guitarist in the world..."??)Danni, there is a reason Joe is an extremely succesful instrumentalist, and you are sitting at home posting idioitic messages on HIS site.....so please, hold your tongue.
joe sorry to hear about the trouble in malaysian. I can't believe it was 4:00am until you took the stage, two hours longer and the sun would have started to come up. and to think of the fans who waited so long. it's been a long time since my last entry. I have been working 7 days a week 12 hours a day. I just bought a Boss BR-8 digital recorder and it's a cool little unit you should check one out it would be a great little scratch pad for the road. that's all for now. thank you for the strange beautiful music your friend johnny
DANNII :"improvising is not the best guitarist in the world" I have to disagree with that. Here's my viewpoint: I see music as being a language, a means of communication, a way to express thoughts (which is really what communication is). To make an analogy to what I want to say here, I know some Spanish- I've had some in high school and a semester in college. So I can talk some in Spanish, but I often have to hesitate and gather my thoughts, or even write them down to be sure I'm saying what I want to say. I think that's similar to "writing" a solo- it can be an effective means of communicating, but it doesn't really constitute "fluency," so to speak. I speak English very well, it being my first language, so I can, for the most part, say what I want to say off the top of my head, but I still sometimes can't adequately express what's in my mind. Similarly, I think improvising a solo is just like talking fluently; Joe expresses his thoughts as they enter his mind- they just flow down through the fingers and to the guitar. That, to me, is a truly impressive skill. It's difficult to master (I assume, I sure don't have a handle on it!), and it requires a thorough knowledge of the language (music theory). I think Joe knows the "language" of music better than I know English. That's just my opinion: feel free to disagree.
Hey Joe!! Just heard a version of Surfing With the Alien from San Diego '88 where you played a riff from the song Birdland (I think) by Manhatten Transfer. I thought that was pretty darn cool. Bye for now.....RIPCITYBRANDON (a.k.a Clyde...."The Glyde"....Drexler)
Joe, this might be to personal, but are you a democrat or republican? How bout Rubina. My husband and I are split ~ I'm dem. & he's rep. You don't have to tell me, but it would be fun to know if you and Rubina are both the same or different. November 7th (Election day)is our 13th wedding anniversary too! What a great trip it's been so far! peace** michelle@samebutdifferent.com

I missed the last one and will be SURE not to miss the next.
Anxiously awaiting.....

Hi Joe. Im a big fan. Being a guitar enthusiast who also enjoys trip hop/ electronica music, I really liked Engines of Creation. I wanted to tell you that I admire the fact that you're branching out into new things. Too many of your colleagues are sort of stuck in the past...infact it seems most guitarists I know are stuck in the past musically. So it's really refreshing to hear a guitarist who actually keeps up with new music. I just wanted to say I admire that, and please continue experimenting with new music! PEACE
It's that time again folks, CHRISTMAS!!! And Satch, here is something I did last year http://members.aol.com/santasatriani, hopefully I'll get around to doing another (especially now that I got cable access)
psst, any more cam specials you got lined up?
Hey joe,
i;ve been on reb beach's forum a lot lately, it's a little different from this one, he doesn;t have as a large of a fan base so his forum is usually jsut guitar stuff. (oohh lets observe the irony as i probably just ruined that for him) I mentioned you being my absolute fav and he mentioned jamming with you, and havign a tape of a jam you guys did. But my realy question is why did you shave your head please forgive me if it;s toos personal, but a local demi guru shared his opinion and i was wondering if it was right, i dont;s want to bestill false impressions so i'm not gonna mention it. BUt a gain i beg forivenss if i'm out of context.
Hey Joe, I guess I just missed you!! Yep I was at the Toronto show as well!! Too bad I didn't get a chance to meet you, but my friend had to be at work the next day pretty early (7:00am)... I just recently started jamming with this guy and he said he was into joe. Then he showed me the video for summer song and he was in it! I thought it was pretty cool. He got a chance to meet Joe and Rubina and said that they were some of the nicest people he's met.
Hi Joe
How are you? I would like to know how you do when you are stuck with a song.
I mean when you have like half of it, than you cant go on and finish the other half because you dont have any ideas which could sound right to that particular song.Ever happened to you?ANd if it did? What do you do with this song. Cause I just have this one which i have been working on a lot. But than I got stuck. The first half does sound pretty cool, but i just dont have any more ideas to that song. It kills me cause it is so annoying.
Anyway, i would be grateful if you could answer me. Or if you have time to finish the other half for me...:o)))))
kindest regards, Sandor
Hey all! I've been listening to satch for probably 9 years now... about a year and a half ago I decided to start playing guitar. All I have now is a classical guitar (which I love - I've figured out how to play "Tears in the Rain" on it) but I'm getting an electric (Ibanez JS-100) in about a week. I would like to try and replicate the beautiful tone that Joe gets on "The Extremist." Anyone know what amps / effects gear he used on this disc? Thanks, -Jeremy
Hey joe, just wondering if you are going to come out with another video? I have your "satch tapes" video and its about worn out from being played so much and is well garded from eager friends of mine who would love to get their hands on it. well take care Joe and hope to see and hear you play in Houston in the near future.
Good to see blue Joe, very nice. Joe, when will you be coming to Boston again? Next time consider playing at the Orpheum. The Avalon gave you a time restraint and that is not fair to you or the fans. Again, it was a pleasure to have met you. I was the one with the bright orange shirt. I told you how I was in the hospital because of my heart and so on. You hugged my girlfriend and made the funniest face. I have the pictures!. Anyway, keep up the great work man. Craig (THE biggest js fan....Ever.)
Hi joe....i hear a lot about how you view scales and modes. My take on it is that you view them with equal importance...is that true? my view now is that ALL scales and modes, are equal in that they all have a certain 'flavour' to them. I also hear you talking about chords and saying a major chord is just as complex as any other chords, do you view the whole stucture as one big picture and that the song gives any musical device a place to be powerful?? i see you play on your video, recording the 'joe satriani' album, you treat the entire fretboard like its your favourite position. Am i right on this joe? please could you tell me?? because i think it would help players feeling they have been trapped into a 'FAVOURITE' position on the neck, or just dont value the sheer power of any given scale or mode, no matter if its a pentatonic phrase or a lydian one..... thanks for listening joe .....take care...
Joe, did you really reply to my message, or was it just some employee, trying to make me feel good? Now I'm big fan and you've really disappointed me, your still a vwry good player but improvising is not the best guitarist in the world.
I don't mean that harshly but it is my opinion. Now I slog my guts out , trying to write solo's for my songs down as tab and music! So I hope that I'm going to make it in the music industry. Joe I would be very gratefull if you would privately email me at.........dlde@rossalld.fsnet.co.uk.......And did you read that note???????????, please reply, if you have the time? Thankyou!
hey joe! going to see you again at the cave creek music fest!!!! this is the closest you have ever performed to me. i live in phoenix now, but i lived in cave creek for a while. it's great! see you soon!
hey! joe (jimi hendrix) just for the fun i eard your interview for guitar part

i would like what you reply just a little word for me just a one for me please joe!!
Hey Joe, do you know when the next time you will be touring in NYC or around that area again will be ? i saw u at the hammerstien and it was awesome.
Later Tom
Monster Zero- The right hand over left hand thing that you speak of is not a capo it is a mute. It's a way of keeping all of the strings quiet while the left hand plays in a 'legato' fashion i.e. all hammer-on's and pull-off's. In addition to enabling very high speed licks, this technique has that unusual 'keyboard like' smoothness to the sound that you get with two-handed-tapping. I hope this helps.=========================== Antonio Vivaldi for G3
so whats new joe, any cool songs going through your head lately? i never made mention of it before but here are a few departure points of some really great music. on your luminous flesh giants track at the very end you had in the backgroung as it is fading a really cool sound effect w/ a very short phrase , it is in the high pitch , awesome stuff for just being in the background.......
PLEASE WRITE A LEED FOR METALLICA'S FUEL AND MAKE THE GROOVE A LITTLE LONGER........., and can you do anything with the selftitled cd godsmack it has some really cool stuff that you may be able to use, if you could get back to some of your more prolific stuff like on FLYIN' to to to cool man, i wished i could play as well as you cause when i listen to music i hear it in my head as to what the next natural step will be and how harmonics and all the correct tone should be , it really sucks that i feel music so well but can play worth a damn, you have a great day and be good to yourself and family..............

TheMAGICIAN:How embarassing..i remembered hearing years ago about a guitar prodigy that had come down with ALS(debilitating disease)but i forgot exactly who...

For those who have not heard of Jason Becker..you have definitely missed out on pure greatness..(although i doubt anyone here is as ignorant as me!)
Date: Sat Nov 4 01:05 Ibanez Alex<savikko@minmail.net>:
Ya music keep's my soul warm during the winther season, here in sweden. Keep on playing that coool and strange beatyful music of yours! Ibanez Alex!
i consider myself knowing modes quite well... however, symetrical scales have always been a question of mine... isn't the whole tone symetrical? there must be a few other ways a scale can be "mirrored" so to speak. HWHW (etc) is a great sounding scale... and totally joe! i think you just gave away your secret... now i gotta go learn every pattern there is for that train a thought.("...i hear my train a comin'"; jimi) i'm glad your solos are totally improvised; thats really kool to hear! you should do a tour focusing on purely improvised playing... would that be killer?!? thanks! billyd
HEY STUUU! :+) Hope you are having fun!! Wanted to ask you in VEGAS, but I was too nervous, how is it you can play two different melody lines at the same time ( ie: LUCY & LINUS )?? I have been working on that for 2-3 months. I can play each line, but everytime I try to put it together, I get messed up!!! Email me if you want. Also I had tried to order KINGS OF SLEEP here in UTAH....we cant get it anymore. Where can I pick it up?? Thats the only one Im missing!!! THANK YOU AGAIN FOR TAKING YOUR TIME WITH ME IN VEGAS!!! Cant wait for your return!!! Are you going to tour for OUTBOUND?? Keep me posted!! JOE ARE YOU COMING TO VEGAS ANYTIME SOON????? TOM PETTY IS WAITING!!!! :+) Anyway....STU HAMM, VICTOR WOOTEN, STEVE BAILEY....B3!!!! PEACE!!
Hey JOe, I was wondering if you had any tips on sweeping techniques. I am trying to learn on my own and it can get frustraiting. I using songs like Steve Vai's Warm regards off his Fire Grarden cd. Can you suggest other examples that I could use to help me out. Thanks
Also when are you coming back the Mile High city of Denver?
==Joe== there are two kinds of symetrical I believe, diminished symetrical and augmented symetrical...I believe they both sound really cool! Can't really say that "symetrical" strictly means diminished :) just my $0.02#
===JOE=== i would apprecite is very much is you could answer me one short question.....JOE do you remember me from MASSEY HALL? i was one of the kids with the shaved head and sunglasses like you....you told me to keep up the look and i did just that....and for the christmas concert at my school i'm playing a duet with a friend of mine (Frogman from your site) , we're playing Always with me Always with you (me lead guitar, frogman on mass) and then I am Become Death from the Time Machine album, while he switches from bass to guitar between songs, i improvise a solo...IT'S GOING TO BE AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!! ........................JOE THANKS FOR DROPPING IN EVERY NOW AND THEN!!! --BIGGEST JS FAN EVER (Richard Haier)
Joe-
Thanks for playing "The Snake" for you final number in Atlanta this year, "Friends". That is my favorite tune of yours and always makes my heart soar.
-from the guy who threw you the Braves hat that night, Jami-
Hi Joe, I echo how nice it is to see the blue hue. I believe that right over left hand technique where you grab the neck with your picking hand is more like an "instant capo" sort of technique, no? See you on the road, my man.
Hi Joe! I wanted to know about that "left hand over right hand" technique you use in Cool #9 and The Mystical Potato Head Groove Thing. What exactly does that technique allow you to do that can't be played normally? It appears as though the left hand functions to shorten the neck of the guitar and therefore make it easier to do legato lines, but that's just a guess. Lastly, have you heard any of Buckethead's work, and what do u think of it? Peace Joe.
Hey Joe, Glad to see some blue print!! We've missed the weekly messages from you!! In your early music career with "The Squares"; Does that style of music have any influence on your most recent stuff? Because I know in some of your interviews, you've stated that alot of your songs can be related to alot of the newer material out there!! But of course that isn't always the case! Just before you came out with "Not Of This Earth" what were your influences then?? Peace!! Barrie
Hey Joe, im realy stuck on one thing and i cant find it out anywhere. Can you please explain how you get that amazing artificial harmonic sound where you seem to take your playing hand right down to your pickups and make the most amazing squeels. I hope you can help, sure i can hit the avereage nice high pitched artificial harmonics but this one you do is a bit of a mystery to me.
L8R come back and play manchester again please before i leave for Australia
Oh P.S my bands gonna cover surfin with the alien,at the next gig, hope you dont mind.
Joe- It's real nice to see you coming here more often as well as giving out musical advice. I'm sure it means so much more to your fans when you do this.
...damien, the symmetrical scale goes: 1/2 step, whole step, 1/2 step,
whole step, etc... it's the only mode of the dim. scale and is 8 notes
long...joe...
Hi everybody! SATCH: Looks like I'll be seeing you in Phoenix. Do you or anybody here know the schedule for that festival? I know there will be a bunch of bands, but there's very few info on the show online. LIVE CD/DVD!!!! Special thanks to Satchfan. Later.
Hey man waz^. Yjour the greatest guitar player in the world. I have been playing for 1 year and I was wonder ing if you could give me some tips if you have any. Please write back.
Date: Fri Nov 3 13:35 djh (d jh)<deepcitisound@hotmail.com>:
Joe, that is the scariest thing I have ever heard.
Joe, I would be very gratefull if you replied to this message.
When you write the actual solo of a song, how do you do it.
Write it down as tab/music?
Record it?
Or just memory?
This is because I need advice because I write my own stuff and I need advice on the solo. Remember playing at the Apollo, Manchester. I got your autograph and gave you anote. Did you read it?
Thanks for the time, please reply!
rdubiel......well i did mean the people who played guitar of course.....natural ability? oh please.... (see below last message from me) (no mean feat though).........JOE THANK YOU FOR MAKING MUSIC THAT MAKES ME CRY (in a good way of course) .....NOW THAT'S NATURAL ABILITY......with practice of course.......JOE YOU RULE AND YOU KNOW IT!!! --BIGGEST JS FAN EVER (Richard Haier)
hey dimwit_Webmaster..just keep posting my messages on here..because as it right now..jon luini, webmaster of www.satriani.com is monitoring your games..just keeps posting it..watch what happens to your account on this site..this is a fair and last and final warning to you...sorry ,joe..this kid doesn't seems to be old enough to be mature enough to be on the computer..hes probably doesn't have his parents permissions to use the computer.
Joe, so happy to see you pop in now and then, ...i was wondering...WHAT ARE YOU DOING ON 'NEW YEARS EVE' ???? Playing anywhere near S.F. ???? i can't wait to see if we can get that National Anthem here for those of us who never got to see it.....p.s. i would be very upset if i was at a show and only got teased with a taste of Joe...(sigh).....Love ....WOOHOO!!!!...www.michelleistoofunny.com
Joe,
Hope things are well with you and the band, I'm coming close to finishing my new album, but I'm running into some technical difficulties. Just a question..do you Mic your amp, or do you D.I.? If you could let me know what works the best for you, that would be very helpful. Thanks!
ps----you've got to play Toronto again soon! We miss ya!
Stu is never booed, he's STUUUUUUed! Now you know :} On a totally off subject, the other day I got my Gorilla (Journal of the Gorilla Foundation) magazine. I didn't have time to look at it, so I put it on the table for another day. It always makes me happy when I get these short mags. I look forward to the pictures and information on Koko, Michael and Ndume, the only gorillas in the world who communicate through sign language. Last night I had some time, so I picked up the magazine with joy and anticipation of what was inside. On the cover I see it says "Farewell Sweet Silverback" and "Memorial Issue". I opened the first page and read that Michael, the 27 yr. old Silverback gorilla had collapsed and died of heart disease back in April. I couldn't believe it. Tears instantly streamed down my face as I read on. I was/am devistated. Why didn't I hear about this sooner? April was such a happy month. The anticipation of seeing Joe, Jeff, and Stu on the 29th overrode everything. I never seen it in the paper or heard about the death on the news. Michael is such an important gorilla ~ there should have been more press. My heart is broken. He was such a beautiful animal. If you want to read more about it, go to www.koko.org. Sorry to take up all this space, but I write about what's important to me. peace**

Hey Joe, Just wanted to say hey, and thanx for ezperience as usual I thoughroly enjoyed anything your involved in. Not to get on the sympathy train but New Years day this year I decided to go for a cruise (DON'T BE FOOLED BY MY LOGIN NAME)and was interrupted by a bunch of trees apparently they can move pretty fast Butnot to get out of th way ,just to make sure they get hit!ouch!! It's hard to believe that I've been on this Earth for 36 years and juUNTIL recently I've NEVER been attacked by suicidal trees UNTIL THEN! I was in coma for about 5 weeks. A very much needed vacation but the only residual effects that are a real pain are my memory which is pretty much shot and my shoulder which thanks to the caring people at the Hospitol wholaid me on my side for most of that time I am eternally greatful, yeah right I guess I am lucky to be alive!! the muscles in my shoulder tightened up so bad that they now need to be stretched like a Gymnasts leg muscles in case your wondering or even if youre not, Iam a T.BI.survivor(traumatic Brain injury) incase you hadn't heard, last month was T.B.I. awareness month we T.B.I. survivors are not a group looking for charity we simply can't remember unless it's really important.Like I lost about 3 years of my life,in memory that is. But strangely enough I DID NOT LOOSE ANY OF THE sATRIANI TUNES IN MY HEAD APPARENTLY WHILE I WAS "RESTING" I WAS REALLY SURFIN' WITH THE ALIEN; WHAT A RIDE! IT SURE IS GREAT TO BE BACK AND EVEN BETTER NOW THAT I CAN TALK TO YOU SOMEWHAT EASILLY.
hey, Jo i can never get enough listening to ur albums. they really make me feel alive. I like the Engineer of creation, but ilike ur previous beter though. G3 is awesome. So, where are u coming to jakarta ? U have fans here to u know.
hey joe .... there was a rumour about u giving out your guitar in the rentak asia festival ?? what happened eventually anyway ? well .. i would suppose after the police screwing the scene up ... u wouldnt have given it out right?
Hi everyone.I just wanted to take minute and ask everyone...(ESPECIALLY JOE)...to spend a minute or two checking out my website a giving the new tunes a quick listen. There's a "Add your comment" section so you can let me know what you think. ******http://andrewconte.iuma.com******
There's also a link to send a request for the CD "Convergence".
Hey Joe!!! Thank's for sayin' hi in Boston. I was great to see you and I hade a great time! LATER : )
hey all, i was just away for a while and just got back to the satch site and also just found out about the Malaysian story. that sounds like it sucked! if anyone knows the details and wants to e-mail em to me that would be great because this sounds like a big deal. my e-mail address is freakona@aol.com.
Ok - So I'm on AOL Instant Messenger, and some idiot IM's me and says..."Hey, It's Joe Satriani" and of course I'm like, no you aren't. And he says "Ask me a question about anything about him" And i say, "look, satriani doesnt get online, look at everybody's profile, and IM all of his fans." So the guy starts warning me (those of you who dont know what that means, its a button you push to keep the other person from chatting with you for a period of time) And i finally block him. His Screen name was Tony Batista y2k. It obviously wasn't satch. Just thought you guys would wanna know. PAUL GILBERT FOR G3!!!! - Andrew
Hey Joe, and that dude from Dallas. I'm from Georgetown, 30 miles away from Austin. You sound more like a steryotipe Texan than a real one, "Howdy partners, I'm a Texan! I'm gonna go have me a shootout!". heh, right. Then again I'm 13 ang your probly 37 or something. Joe, you'd better not schedule your Austin performance on a Thursday again (or any weekday for that matter). I wanna actually see you in concert. Make it a Friday night. Please? Pretty Please? Ugly Please? Joe, do you play any computer or video games? I know this is an incredibly stupid question, but I was just wondering. And why did you use those other guys (i.e. Jonathan Mover and what's-his-face) on the live section of Time Machine? And why do, on G3 and Dreaming #11, some people boo Stu? And why did you change you live version of Summer Song? Sorry for so many questions, but it's sorta confusing.-----Jeff
Hey Joe, typo alert....I was 13 when I first started listening to you, not 6!!!!! (I had previously and incorrectly thought I was 16 at the time, and realized I'd been listening to you half my life...I'm 26...then the message board with it's random cutting off of letters turned me from being "16" to "6"....must have sounded odd I'm sure.......BTW Engines is an incredibly good album(I'm still at a loss for words), and as much of a postive departure as "Flying" and "Joe Satriani" (the bluesy one;) were. I love it when you change styles because you still play like you, but the structure of the SONGS change, and that makes them all the more exciting. I know when I'm listening to Devil's Slide, I wanna hop around the room like a one-man potato sack race!! It's your songwriting that matters, and you seem to give it the highest priority. That's what makes you an artist, instead of being "just" a guitarist. Kinda like Prince but with the guitar as the main instrument. =) Your guitar is always impeccable, always perfect for the song. You're like Stu, in the aspect that you don't have to be plastered all over every second of your record in order to feel like it's yours. Like Stu, you play what the songs really needs and give the other music the room it needs to breath, instead of playing "on top of" every track................................I hope to meet you one day. Maybe when this guy finally sends me the chromeboy I'm buying, I could get you to sign the backplate (or the front!) sometime...Joe, I'd love to say more, but I don't wanna get cut off by the 2000 character limit....that really bums me out..... Thanks!!!!!!!!
hi,joe satriani..I've gotten a flash new about yngwie malmstreem,..hes is offiacially dead..his concert in san fracisco with dio on this november is called off?? joe is this is true???or anybody could explain to me of whats goping on???~Danny~
Hey Joe! I was just wondering when you were heading back to Alberta. I think it would be really to see again. Your a wonderful artist who deserves more recognition for what you do!!
Snuffmovie: The old Tel Aviv meeting point at Lucy for back-up. Slayer: It has been done. Wolf: The Sandman cell has addressed your old Point Man. Another Zinky Boy to miss Thanks Giving.
JUST WANTED TO SAY...THANKS AGAIN STUUU FOR TAKING THE TIME TO TALK WITH ME IN VEGAS!!! Sorry i was so nervous! :+) You are a great man!!! THANK YOU AGAIN!!!..TOM PETTY!!! :+)HOPE YOU HAVE A GOOD TIME WITH JAGUARES!!! THEY ROCK!!!! STU HAMM, VICTOR WOOTEN, STEVE BAILEY...B3!!! PEACE!!! :+)
Hey guys, just thought I'd tell you a quick, cool story. Steve Vai played here
a while back. Backstage, this young dude comes up to him and says,
"Man, you're so great, you kick Joe Satriani's ass!" Steve took two steps
back, palms upward in a defensive posture, and said, "No way man, Joe
kicks MY ass!" I thought that was cool. Joe Satriani
(again) for G3!
Hi Joe, I want to tell that you are the greatest guitar hero!! I like very well the way you play your guitar and I hope to learn day by day until I can play good half as you can!!
I write because I want to know when you and your band will be in Italy. I hope as soon as possible. In the Tour schedule section of the web pages there isn't any date. Can you give me some date or period when you think you will be in Italy? THANK YOU
Paolo
i really really hope that joe would read this msg and respond to it ... so im reposting it ~~~ hope u guys reading the bbs wont mind ... here goes ...hey joe, its great knowing that you too are pissed bout the rentak asia festival, until now, its still hard to believe that all of us have waited so long just to have the police coming here to screw up the scene. the papers even stated that the organisers will want to invite u guys, thats including vai and johnson, back to perform... rather unlikely i presume? i doubt us the audience would ever want to pay for that type of a concert anymore ... but could u like .. tell us what were the songs u and the rest of the G3 actually wanted to perform? coz frankly, im dyin to know .. after having the following week of my life screwed up, i was tempted to go get the 96 G3 concert video ... boy was i amazed ... anyway, at least i got all the G3's signature, thats some reward .... either case, is there a possibility that G3 comes again for a solo concert? coz me n my friends bought the ticket just to watch G3 live .... also, is there a possbility that u guys make a show in taiwan? coz im a taiwanese and travels between malaysia and taiwan ...... -lhc-
Hi Joe, Hi everyone. So far my audition process is good. thanks Joe for all your inspiration. I'll be moving to Brisbane next year so if you could do a show or three there I would greatly appreciate it. There is a Joe Satriani cover band in Canberra that plays nothing but Satch. It would be worth a look when you're down under. Thanks again, you da man.

===GUITARWIZARD=== ummm....your natural ability to play JOE'S songs? everyone on this site can play his songs.... it's not a natural gift...it's called practice....you don't have to come on so conceited you know....you wouldn't be impressing anyone..... but either way keep up the good work.........._____LOOK MY WAY____.....can't wait to hear another song that JOE sings............ JOE YOU RULE AND YOU KNOW IT!!! --BIGGEST JS FAN EVER (Richard Haier)
Joe - I recently got word that I have been invited to an audition for a scholarship at Berklee in December... The tape I sent them included my version of A Train of Angels, among others. Just wanted to say thanks, because I have no doubt that your excellent songwriting, guitar playing, and musical reputation aided me in getting this audition when I played your song (I chose A Train of Angels cause it was the first of your songs I ever heard). So anyway, just thought I'd say thanks for making such awesome music! You are an inspiration and I don't know what I'd be doing today if you weren't around!
joe! i'm your fans from Indonesia. i think you're verry good guitar player and I want to know how to be a good guitar player like you. please give me your opinion to my email adress. keep nice joe!!...

Hey, I'm relatively new to the site, and since Joe was out of the country when I made my first post, I thought I'd repost it again here, because I'd really like him to see it. Thanks! Here goes:::::::::::My name is Bill, a.k.a. Billkwando, nd I'd like to say to Joe, "Thank you." I've been listening to Joe since I was 6 when my older bro game me "Surfing" for my B-day, the year I started learning the guitar(I'm almost 26 now). Joe's music has been a beautiful influence on me I've listened to Joe through many rough and sad times, and his music has alway been with me, through many moves around the country. When I moved to Maryland where I am) from Georgia, the only possesions I was able to take along were my opy of Surfing (I got a spare now so I don't wear the old one out) and "Flying" It's helped me cope with loss, it's given me an outlet to vent happy emotions, it's pushed me to strive to be a better player, it's helped me understand music by teaching me to admire and interpret musical complexities from an aesthetic s andpoint, and basically made listening to ANY kind of music a better and more fulfilling experience. Joes use of phrasing and his musical expressions often fee like Joe is "speaking" with the guitar. I often used to point to my speakers d ring the "Crushing Day" solo and joke to a friend, "See man? Joe's tryin' to te l you something". Joe was the first concert I EVER saw. I begged my "parents" t let me go, and I saw him at DAR constitution Hall in Washington DC, April 1st 1990, with "Stevie Salas Color Code" opening for him. (anybody else remember that?) Anyway, I could talk about it all day, but I'm sure you're bored. I hope to get to talk to Joe some day and just tell him how much he means to many of us w/o embarassing him. =) I feel he brings us such a beautiful, inspirational gift.....For once, true talent is rewarded. Thanks for the music Joe.... P.S. I had to edit the CRAP out of this post because of the new "2000 character limit" =(
hey joe and anyone else who wants to listen, just wanted to letcha know what they're doing to me at the cave creek thing, of course i don't expect you to do anything about it, i just thought you might like to know, originally the ga tickets were 50 and reserved was 80, they lowered the price of ga and instead of a refund or an upgrade (which was my suggestion), they will match your tickets, so now instead of 3 i have 6 tickets!, what were they thinking! hope ya don't mind me trying to unload em here, at face value of course, if this is prob, just remove it, well that's my rant, lookin foward to seein ya! and the band, and i'm really glad eric's back!, what's the future hold for joe?, a compilation of old stuff?, are you and eric still thinking about that one or is it in the works, what's the next cd gonna be like?, maybe we'll get a taste in cave creek???, any special guests??, backstreet boys for g3!
Rastachild, thanks for the info about Time Machine. So, he played it when that album was being promoted. How's the bootleg? Joe, just wanted to say what an incredible musician you are...and you make it look so easy! Very cool. I listened to Killer Bee Bop from the Joe Satriani album. Man, what a groove! That song, much like most of the album (Cool #9,lest we forget!!) has wicked rhythm and that off-the-cuff, well-executed improv feel. I hope your imagination never runs into a dry spell. Keep rocking. Later.
===EMBRUJO=== the reason i forgot it is cause i've never heard it.....i'm planning on taking about $200 and just getting all of JOE'S albums that i don't already own............JOE!!!!!! YOU RULE AND YOU KN0W IT!!! --BIGGEST JS FAN EVER (Richard Haier)
I just want say that I saw Satchman (since I am the Ozman) about 10 years ago. I saw him in a venue in my city which is the best place to see a concert like that. I've seen a couple of shows of other bands and they didn't compare. I live on the West coast and was wondering whether you will be out here soon. Either San Francisco or Tahoe or even Fresno (where I live). I can't wait for my ears to ring the next day from that awesome show and blaring guitar! Please contact me and let me know! I think my wife will let me go! Ha! Ha!
Hey Thanks ELPP---Ill check it out!! :+) You are right, all the real good musicians, Joe, STUUU, Steve Vai, Jagures, are real good people! STUUU was soo awsome!! Its nice to see him just kick back and play bass like that!!! Anyway gotta run, off to class!! STUUUU THANKS AGAIN!!!! YOU ARE AWSOME!!!! :+) STU HAMM, VICTOR WOOTEN, STEVE BAILEY....B3!!! ;) PEACE Y'ALL!!!
HEY BERRT: COOOOOL! This is one of the things that I love about Satch and the people around him. Accesible, friendly, non-posing dudes. Jaguares music can be found on any good national chain store (Best Buy, Camelot, BBuster), or if you have Columbia House membership, as well. You have to know first that they used to be called CAIFANES, so look first for that name. They have an album called "La historia" (I think), black cover, which has all their hits.=====ANYBODY GOING TO THE CAVE CREEK FESTIVAL? WHERE IS CAVE CREEK? CLOSE TO PHOENIX? ACCESIBLE BY BUS OR TAXI? HELP!!! Later.
hey guys, i have 3 extra tickets for the cave creek music festival general admission, i'm willing to let these go at face value if anyones interested, let me know, 30 bucks each, Larry at LJM65@aol.com
HEEEEEEEEEEEYYYYYYYY JOOOOOOOEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!! (If u don't want thýs I can call u Mr. Satrýani)Whatever, When are u coming here,Türkiye Or let me say when will u answer my question? Please I'm serious there are lots of people expectýng you to gýve a concert here..somewhwere on our country.I'm sure you can fýnd our country on the map.I'm sure you can. So!!! What are you waiting for? Jump on your surfboard and come here wýth that Alýen.I'll be waiting for your answer....
Geez budz.. iz it really necessary to tell the satriani.com webmaster to **** up Tony Harris? if ya don't want him to give you news on his great work, just ask him gently.. he's a kind person, u know! AND a great guitarrist!
joe! i'm your fans from Indonesia. i think you're verry good guitar player and I want to know how to be a good guitar player like you. please give me your opinion to my email adress. keep nice joe!!
i think eric sardinas would be great for g3............try imagining vai on a slide. g3 should be about giving exposure to different styles of guitar playing. either way, my vote would be for JOHN PETRUCCI or ERIC SARDINAS...
I don't understand why you don't aprove people using this site to promote their own music, I think it is great that someone who has music of his/her own which is influenced by joe satriani can advertise it amongst satch fans which will probably like it, and also he didn't make anyone buy his music, he just gave the option.
FIRST OFF I WANT TO THANK JAGUERES FOR COMING TO VEGAS...THEY ROCKED!!! I HAVE TO SAY ANYBODY THAN CAN CATCH THE SHOW ANYWHERE....GO!!!! I dont speak spanish too well yet, and I think I was the only white boy in there, but I had soooooooo much fun!!! STUUUUUU, I want to thank you for taking the time to talk to me, and for signing my bass, and the set list. Sorry I was soooo nervous!!:+) I never did get to tell you how much I enjoyed Outbound!! OH WELL I think you already know anyway!! :+) STU YOU ARE AWSOME MAN!! KEEP ROCKIN'!! Hey , where can I pick up a cd of Jaguares?? I really liked them. Anyway Ill quit taking up space... THANKS TO ALL!!!! PEACE... OH YEAH....STU HAMM,VICTOR WOOTEN, STEVE BAILEY....B3!!! ;+)
hey joe, its great knowing that you too are pissed bout the rentak asia festival, until now, its still hard to believe that all of us have waited so long just to have the police coming here to screw up the scene. the papers even stated that the organisers will want to invite u guys, thats including vai and johnson, back to perform... rather unlikely i presume? i doubt us the audience would ever want to pay for that type of a concert anymore ... but could u like .. tell us what were the songs u and the rest of the G3 actually wanted to perform? coz frankly, im dyin to know .. after having the following week of my life screwed up, i was tempted to go get the 96 G3 concert video ... boy was i amazed ... anyway, at least i got all the G3's signature, thats some reward .... either case, is there a possibility that G3 comes again for a solo concert? coz me n my friends bought the ticket just to watch G3 live .... also, is there a possbility that u guys make a show in taiwan? coz im a taiwanese and travels between malaysia and taiwan ...... -lhc-

Joe, I must say
you have inspired me to play guitar even harder and to improve myself as a musician
I am 16 and have played guitar for 3 years. I started to play after being a fan of metallica and hearing kirk hammet play, but I never heared someone play guitar so well and creatively like you. I hope you will drop by montreal canada and have one of your concerts
you kick ass
thank you for making all the bull^&^% "music" out there sound like the garbage that it realy is

I need of solo, all. Please, emit this tab for me.
Joe, when do you to go for Brazil? Do you like samba?
Joe, What is life for you?
Joe i want to tell you that i am from Argentina. First of all i want to say that i dont have a good english. But i can tell you that your show was the first one for me and the best of my life. I listen to you since 3 years ago and i was very impresed it was very exciting for me. i cant explain you what i felt when i listened you playing TIME. That is one of my favourites now. keep going
like that. And thank you because i started lerning the guitar.
Now i usually play 7 hours a day. Thanks.......
bye
LOD
Hey Joe, how's it going? I'm new to your online fan club, but a fan since the
early 80's. I have seen you in concert seven time's now, two with the G3 lineup.
Your performance has been incredible each time. The last show I seen was at the
Orbit Room in my home town of Grand Rapids, Mi. At that show your playing was
on another level even for you. As close to perfection as any human could
achieve. One favor I have to ask. Of all the shows I have seen you have yet to
play my favorite song. The Forgotten (parts 1&2) is the most powerfull piece
of music I have ever experianced. It takes you through just about every emotion
and to me represents everything I would hope to accomplish in a song if I were
a musician. If you were to play that song the next time you are in Grand Rapids,
I could die a happy man. Take care and I hope you keep making music until we are
both very old. Todd Blonk (shelby)
BERRT:The good thing for us was that the place were they played, the backstage exit went straight to the street, so we were waiting on the street for everyone to come out. There was a hotel van parked right at the door, and Stu was already in it, but I managed to grab his attention and he came down and talked a bit. So you probably need to go early to the venue and find the artist entrance. Later.
hey sup??
i just want to tell you that you are the most greatest guitar player i have ever heard. your not just a good guitar player you realy know how to build the music. im seating every day in the last 3 years and learning to play your songs
(i got allmost all of them exepte the new one).i live in israel and i wanna know if and when are you comming to here??

Satchman - It's alright, i was just really bummed. But there is always next tour. Yeah, Nebraska is a state...but believe it or not, Nebraska was the only state Kennedy didn't win. We have always been and will be a republican state. It kinda sucks, since I'm a democrat, but oh well. I guess i kinda over reacted, but its all good. And yes, I know i'm not the worst off, but that doesnt mean i didn't want to see him as bad as the rest of you guys. But like I said, there is always next tour. PAUL GILBERT FOR G3!!!!!!!!!! - Andrew
Hey Joe! Long time no see. Like you, I've been on the road playing music. But, far less satisfied I am sure. Before I left, I subscribed to your site and finally have "synchronized".. but what does that mean? Any help from any fan would be appreciated! Does it mean I can play 2-handed arpeggios now?
Hi Joe. I am one of your biggest fan. I started playing Ibanez only because of you. Anyway, I have not been playing guitar for very long. I want to ask you two questions.
1. When are you comming to London, U.K ?
2. Are there any of your tutorials(video) available in this world? If yes please let me know. I am willing to go on mars even to get one.
9 MORE HOURS TILL STUUUUUUU!!!!!! :+))) ELPP-- where is a good place to meet up with him??? STUUU YOU ROCK AND YOU KNOW IT!!! STU HAMM, VICTOR WOOTEN, STEVE BAILEY... B3!!!! PEACE Y'ALL!! HEY BILL--- well?? hows the guitar?? did you get it??
i have a bootleg vid of joe playing 'time machine' in concert. but it was during that tour; i think nowadays when he tours he plays the cuts off of the current album, then does some of the 'standards' from the first 2 or 3 albums. i need to get a bootleg of the extremist tour...
Joe, why is it that you never play Time Machine in concert? Have you ever? Do you plan to? I just imagine that it would be an incredible live experience. Go G3! Later. [Shucks corn beneath his Al Gore Mask..."Bwa ha ha haaaa!"]
SONGS THAT JOE SINGS IN: The Phone Call, Crazy, Big Bad Moon, I Believe, Can't Slow Down, Strange.........there might be more....i just won't dare download any songs by JOE that i haven't heard...hte forst time i hear every song must be off of one of his albums........it's a ceremony....ah yes another song by JOE...ceremony.......but enough of my rambling.......JOE YOU RULE AND YOU KNOW IT!!! --BIGGEST JS FAN EVER (Richard Haier)
Hi.
I'm zoe.
I'm really want to know about you. Cause I have the same name with you.
me.. Zoe Satriani not too far, is it?
Anyway, maybe could you tell me how to get the good skill on playing guitar.
Maybe you can send me via mail. I'm sorry if this make you little bit angry.
But i'm sure it won't....
Thank's for all
I'm really want a reply from you.
sincerely,
Zoe Satriani

yeah joe...i knew u won't disappoint ur malaysian fans. hope u really do come back. but this time for a different organiser cos its obvious that rentak asia n mcities have their brains up their asses. n how bout adding a guest performance by kenny wayne shepherd just like in the 97 tour. thats all from me
and stu hamm....u rock.
Hi Joe...I'm glad to hear that from you. Seriously, I've waited 10 years to see you perform live...10 more years will still be worth the wait. You have no idea how much I admire your music, as you were part of my growing up years. Heck, you were an integral part of it! Now, being in my late 20s, years later, I can still dig up Suring With The Alien and listen to it like it was the first time I heard it. Really Joe...tracks like that and Always With Me, Midnight, Flying In A Blue Dream, Forgotten Part Two...all of them had a special memory associated with it. Even my first electric guitar (an old black Ibanez RG series I bought in 1991) was butchered so that I can fix the PAF Pro and the Fred DiMarzio pickups like you did last time. Your fans in this part of the world, and especially Singapore (me included) await your arrival again, Joe...thank you for the music. Thank you for the memories. Thank you for everything.
Hi Joe,
Every week we ask a famous guitarplayer about his favourite guitar. I would be very honoured if you would answer a few questions about your favourite guitar.
If you want to take a look the adress of our website is www.gitaarnet.nl.
Here are the questions:
-What guitar you play at the moment ?
-What's special about it ?
-Could you describe the sound of your favourite guitar ?
-Did you change anything on your guitar so it's better playable for you ?
-How to stroke your guitar ?
-How do you keep your guitar, allways laying around or stored away in a suitcase ?
-On what guitar you absolutely still want to play ?
- What's more important for guitarplayers with little money,
a good amp or a good guitar ?
-What kind of strings do you use ?
-What size ?
-Can you please include a picture of your guitar, or when you have it a picture of you and your guitar ?
If you feel like reacting could you reply this mail then to kick@boekeenband.nl
Yours sincerly,
Kick Stokvis

RATHER THAN JUST FRIEDMAN..IT WOULD BE GREAT IF MARTY COULD BE REUNITED WITH JASON BECKER FOR G3!!
THOSE WHO DISBELIEVE SHOULD LISTEN TO CACOPHONY:METAL SYMPHONY
PAUL GILBERT AND ZAKK WYLDE WOULD ALSO BE EXCELLENT CHOICES!!!!
JOE..PLEEEEEAASSSE COME BACK TO FINISH WHAT YOU LEFT IN MALAYSIA!!!!
Hi Joe. doing an assignment on you. but my music teacher is a dimwit. he doesn't have a clue about guitar. you rule. malmsteen for G3
Date: Mon Oct 30 22:02 dantheman<dkhenley@juno.com>:
Richard, Joe's songs make me cry because I know that I'll never be a fraction of the guitarist he is! Mostly I get nothing but SHEER JOY when I listen to Joe though. I am convinced that, although the majority of Earth's human inhabitants aren't familiar with Joe Satriani, future generations will realize that Joe was one of greatest musicians of all time, and he will be more celebrated then then he is now.
To Andrew of Nebraska, man at least Joe went near you. (Sort of) He didn't even come anywhere near my whole country!!! Please excuse me if half my words are missing, because the stupid delete key is getting stuck. Joe didn't even come within 2000km of my place so you're not the worst off! < > < > < > < > < > < > < > < > < > < > < > Hey Webmaster Jon here's a suggestion for a new poll: everyone's fav satch tune. I'm interested to hear from everyone. And who cares for G3 because i won't get to see it anyway. q:^{)>
For ANDREW........Hey man, I was just pullin' your chain ! I sincerely hope that Joe makes it to a concert hall near you someday because I can tell you from personal experience that it will be an event you won't soon if ever forget. On 2 occasions I've been fortunate enough to be in the presence of the Master and his chrome plated instrument of melody and power when he unleashed his talent upon the masses of his adoring fans in Philadelphia. I consider myself extremely lucky to have caught one of the picks he tossed in my direction. It's proudly displayed in the inner portion of the jewel box of my Engines of Creation Disc. I've been privilaged to see many concerts by some of the top musical proformers of the last 30 or more years and I would be hard pressed say which if any of them were better than Joe. So for you and every one of his millions of fans around the world, I hope you get that chance ! ! ! ! ! By the way........is Nebraska really a state ???????? LOL !!!!
Once again...does anyone know where I can get pictures from the House of Blues show in chicago on easter suday (EOC tour)? Thanks a lot guys!!! And thank you Joe...for your beautiful, heartfelt music...Jake.
Are you trying to tell me that Joe has no fans in Nebraska? We have a right to see Joe just as much as anyone else. Ok, so we've never voted Democrat. What the hell does that have to do with anything? It just pissed me off when i found out that Joe just completely skipped over the state, acting like it didnt exist. I know he cant hit every state, but at least one date in Nebraska would've been nice. He went from Denver, CO (too far for me to travel at 15) to Chicago, IL (again too far to travel) I mean, even a KC date would've been nice! - Andrew
Joe Satriani, that's like the best news I've heard all week. The part about you wanting to come back and do it right! Gosh for the past 2 weeks we the fans have been e-mailing, faxing, calling, phoning in radio stations and even writing to newspapers about the disaster you had to go through. I hope these people will apologize soon. We shall be waiting Joe.
does anyone else cry when they listen to ---I BELIEVE--- ? wow what a song! the lyrics, the melody.....JOE CAN SING!!!! i personally like his style of singing even though he's not considered a "singer" ......it fits his style of music very well.......................JOE YOU RULE AND YOU KNOW IT!!! --BIGGEST JS FAN EVER (Richard Haier)
AGRAHHHHHHHHHHH! JOE COME BACK TO THE 9:30 CLUB!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 9:30 CLUB IN WASHINGTON D.C OR THE CONSTITUTION HALL IN WASHINGTON DC!!!!!!!!!
OH AND I AM THE BIGGEST JS FAN EVER I AM GLAD JS1000 ARE MADE IN JAPAN AND NOT KOREA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Joe. Very sorry to hear about the Malaysian G3 incident, a real shame and must be very difficult to accept, especially from hearing how difficult and complex it has been to even get the thing planned in the first place. I do hope you realise that all of us, as fans, love the music first and foremost, but we also hope our heroes (such as yourself) continue to thrive and enjoy what they are doing despite any setbacks. I'm not really old enough (20 yrs old) to get philosophical with life; so I guess i'll just end my comment now. Rock on!
(The track "War" off Extremist is still my favorite Satch piece!)
For ANDREW....Why not go back there ? The fans also got screwed and deserve a chance to see THE MAN play as long as whoever promotes it does it right next time. Nebraska !!!!????.....Ya can't even get presidential hopefulls to go there so how do you expect Joe to show up ??? For SATCH3D.....I eagerly await your new original music......ATTABOY !!!!!!!!
bubbles-- virtuous.com's tickets for the stu blank event can be picked up at this url: http://www.virtuous.com/search/events_venue.php?venueid=GDC01
i've also added a photo of steve vai and joe at the airport, putting on a happy face considering the circumstances. it's available from the road page, click on the (p) next to the date. i'm still hoping there's a copy of the national anthem that we'll be able to encode, but no update yet. i believe i've also fixed the strange extra spaces which were being put into everyone's posts here.

hey joe i just joined your awsome site. However i have been a fan for a long time. I just wanted to compliment u on being one of the only guitarists out there who aren't totally mainstream. Im so sick of playing hendrix and other blu es based songs. They get so boring to play on guitar. But not your songs all of they flow and i keep trying until i nail it and i can play it in time with u on the cd. Yngwie malmsteen is also a great guitarest but i allways say u kn ow the music better. Well wish me luck playing your songs off of engines. what a great cd. And by the way any were i can get the js 1000 cheaper than 1119 cause it's such an awsome guitar and i would like to know were i can get a bett er price. Hey maybe you can audograph it sometime:).
p.s. My favorite song is Time so make more like it Plz. but i know u like to change your sound every album.
Hi Joe, Was listening to my own private recording of the webcast from 29th April 2000, you mentioned before Train of A ngels “IT BRINGS ME WAY BACK, WHEN I WAS KID I USED TO GO TO THE FILMORE EAST TO WATCH PEOPLE REALLY PLAY” - Could you reveal who these people were.

gregory f., we were to take the stage at midnight to close the two day
festival...we didn't get onstage 'till 4:00am due to the poor planning and
running of the show by the local promoters; we played 2 1/2 songs, the
police came onstage and threatened to arrest and jail us if we didn't leave
the stage and the stadium immediately...our agent had delayed their
attempts to stop the show as we started our first song but eventually was
threatened as well. he managed to buy us about 12 min. before things got
too serious to mess around with...all in all a very frustrating waste of time
and effort for me , my band and crew. i'm still waiting for an apology from
the promoters. the malaysian fans were great, and we loved being
there!...we shall return to do it the right way in the future....joe...
Hey, does anyone have or know where I can get some pics from the the EOC tour when they played at he House of Blues in Chicago on easter sunday? If so, please let me know because it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks...BTW, "thank y ou Joe...for your beautiful, heartfelt music." Jake.
Hey Joe and others, I recently received my newsletter from Encyclopedia Metallica (Sem Hadland) and it said that the g roup Chumbawamba recorded an MP3 called "Pass it Along" about the napster B.S. going on. They sampled Metallica, Elvis , The Beatles, Eminem and others and made it into an MP3 specificly to pass around and piss them off (not that Elvis w ould be upset). After all, the best things in life are free :} Go to www.chumba.com and check it out, then...Pass it A long! peace**
*§*§* Hey, who thinks that a movie about Joe should be made? Wouldn't that be sweet!? The movie could be called "Sa tch". Directed by Aranofsky, and written by the Satchman himself and somebody else; but who would play Satch? *§*§*
I bought an Yngwie Malmsteen album and was blown away. So what if he's arrogant - he's allowed to be!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ! Richie Sambora for G3. Or Malmsteen... L8r, Neil.
Hey Mr Webdude, (Jon) something I've noticed lately is that spaces between letters in words have been appearing in pla ces they were not intended and also not placed. I believe everyone else has noticed? ================================= =================== < between the diples > NOTE: The characters ' < ' and ' > ' are not allowed ============== ====================================== Has anyone seen the G3 DVD yet? I hope to get it (when I can afford it, that is ) and I know where I can get it from. All I need is A$30 (same price as the CD believe it or not) which is slightly ou t of reach at the moment... Ah well BanJoe, I'll see you live yet. AYE AYE AYE and all you people have a good one.
Hey, Joe. Just wanted to know if the organizers have already sent in an official apology and explanation for the happe nings at Rentakasia. From the looks of it a lot of media hype and spin doctoring and all that is going on. But I only want to know if they've given you your dues man.
For Webmaster: Just a suggestion. Maybe if the messageboard was subdivided into categories it would be cool and easier to monitor and follow the happenings. For Joe and for the fans.
HEY BILL.. Chill out, I will find out for you man!!Like I said in chat, my guitarist has one, I will ask him. Did you get the other info you needed?? Let me know!! Believe me, I can help!!! :+) STUUUUU!!! 2 DAYS!!! VEGAS VEGAS VEGAS!!! :+) (oYo) and STU= heaven!!! :+) Props to ya ELPP!!! STU HAMM, VICTOR WOOTEN, STEVE BAILEY...B3!!!! JOE BE GOOD TO YO URSELF!!!:+) PEACE Y'ALL!!!
HAHAHA....Marianozz!!! exactly what i spect Satch think about Yngwie. John Petrucci WWWOOOOWWW, what a guitarist!!!, w ell, Portnoy,Myung...Liquid Tension Experiment,...it would be too much to ask if they, u know,...G3,...just an awesome fantasy. But Satriani,Vai & Petrucci they would be the TOP Ultimate guitartrio on Earth!!! Hey Webmaster, i have not iced that you dont put Joes blue messages on the news section. U used to do it,so, why u stop to do it? We are hunger to know something really new about Satch,so...thats your Job man!! keep the "hard work" on the chat section. And how a bout a new POLL? we want Petrucci, Marty Friedman, and others wants Yngwie...but keep Yngwie 30000 miles away from G3 please. ¡¡¡SSTTUUU!!! Here on MEXICO its very, and i mean it, VERY HARD to get your new release, is there a way that i could buy it from here? I want an EOC live tour release!!! See ya man. Ga6o
I saw you in Kuala Lumpur recently & I thought you were great!Eventhough you only played 3 songs...mm...well only 2 1/ 2 actually but still think you're the greatest!!!I'm also a guitarist! If not for your music I would have ended up a ba ss player...NO OFFENCE TO STU HAMM...I THINK HE'S GREAT TOO!!!Anyway I'm in the midst of recording my own album,I'll s end you a copy when I'm finished!!!
Ya Yo and Zeus -- Thanks for the comments :) Thank you for taking the time to listen!! I am working on much original stuff right now...I think I got something here...time to hit the studio!! Later...
I've been bustin' my butt on a side-project for the past month. Just finished a few minutes ago ... whewwww! This i s the first time I've posted without reading most of the other posts firsts ... just don't have the time. ======= St ill waitin' for news about what's up, Joe ... drop us a line!
HI THERE GUYSSSSS, its been a while since ive been here... but well, it's not like im one to be missed or anything... just finished ripping out the little plastic square from the formerly blank tape that now contains JOE'S SHOW HERE IN BUENOS AIRES!!! last august... maaaaaan... was that cool or what?? i almost cry with Love Thing and Stu's solo there.. .. well, that's not all, the thing is there was a cool joke from Joe, he was eating an apple backstage and he goes "An apple a day, keeps YNGWIE MALMSTEEN away" !! hehe, well, thats all for now, see ya, good luck!
Sorry everyone, but last few times I was here I forgot to check the message board!!! Joe, that sucks. There's no way s ensibly that you could play after 4am in the middle of a city. I'm not surprised the police "moved you along" (nothing to see here... - Officer Barbrady) but I am surprised how late you had to perform. They obviously didn't plan or orga nise it properly. Looks like I missed the big spam operation. Good work by Webbie Jon by the looks of things! Hey Joe, at least no one's trying to shoot you onstage! (Or off hopefully!) I wish I had more time to read everyone's post but I'm sorry I've got university exams to revise for. I'll be off then, and I bet as soon as i've posted I'll remember s omething else I wanted to say!!! But hey, the world is still spinning as far as I know. Let me know someone if it stop s... Hey BanJoe you rock. Get that feeling happening. Cheers everyone have a week or so... < aye aye aye >
Hey Sztampon, you need to let it go, dude. Maybe Zappa would've gone to jail for a curfew law, but Joe's a bit more r esponsible than that, so lay off!
Is it TRUE that the JS10 CHROMEBOY doesn't have the DiMarzio FRED and PAF PRO??????? TELL me it's not TRUE!!! I might have to sell it before I get it.... Is the JS10 ANYTHING like Joe's real Chromeboy?? Everywhere I look for stats, it l ists the pickups as "DiMarzio-NEW". WHAT THE HECK IS "NEW"???? Sorry to rant, but I thought I was getting my dream gui tar, and now I'm not so sure....

Michelle: I'm with you, I think szampon is 2-fry-short of a happy meal. zeus@michelle@satriani.com. Matthew King: Grea t job! Just like the other one. Bela Fleck for G3 or Paul GIlberto
TWO MORE DAYS!!!! VEGAS VEGAS VEGAS!!! STUUUUUU!!!!!! Watch for Tom Petty!!! :+)STU HAMM, VICTOR WOOTEN, STEVE BAILEY. ....B3!!! Joe I hope you are doing well!!
PEACE Y'ALL!!!
Szampon - Just as I thought you couldn't be any more arrogant you come up with the line that you're better than some c op. Sure, they may piss you off by giving you speeding tickets, but where would we be without them? The concert woul d have never existed in the first place because as soon as Joe set up, someone would have stolen all his stuff. The p olice don't make the policies, they just enforce and protect them. And what the hell is this crap about young people having no perception?! I have a good sense of humor and its rather easy to detect that there was no humor intended in your statements. You're like frickin' Al Gore (and your stupidity rivals that of G.W.). You say one thing and then change it to appease the public. First, you attack Joe, saying that he isn't a real man. Then, you state that you me ant to say that the promoters are responsible.
I don't know where Sszampon is coming from, but I think anyone who's listened to Joe in interviews and on his videotap e know that Joe is an easy going guy. It's not HIS job to "stand up" to anybody. To paraphrase what Joe once said in a n interview:, "I don't wanna write a book or be in a movie, or be in politics, I just wanna play my guitar. That's my job."....It's his his managers, etc who're supposed to stand up for him. Now, if THEY couldn't stop the guy from walki ng out on the stage and stopping Joe (being the people in charge of dealing with the organizers.... not Joe's job, aga in) they WHAT do you expect Joe to do? Joe's not a very big guy....I'm sure he could kick ass and all, but what do you think it would really have been like if they'd decided to go out on the stage Exactly. I don't know where Ssztampon i s coming from, but I think anyone who's listened to Joe in interviews knows that Joe is an easy going guy. It's not HI S job to "stand up" to anybody. To paraphrase what Joe said in an interview:, "I don't wanna write a book or be in a m ovie, I just wanna play my guitar. That's my job."..It's his REPRESENTATION who're supposed to stand up for him, his m anagers, etc...Now, if THEY couldn't stop the guy from walking out on the stage and stopping Joe (being the people in charge of dealing with the organizers.... not Joe's job, again) they WHAT do you expect Joe to do? ...............Part 1, part 2 on the way..........
Hey there Joe, this is Al speaking and I was wondering if you had any excelent tips on guitar tapping. I was with my n ephew in Leicester square in the school holidays and I saw what I think is ine of my greatest inspirations ever. He wa s going up and down the fret board and making really cool sounds even though he only had a regular size amp and a home made guitar( I think). Anyway I am not to sure what his name was so I dont know how to contact him. When i first hear d your song, surfing with the alien it sounded similar. If maybe you could email me with some good tips or something I would be very greatful because I have emailed various sites and no one replies.
Cheers,
Al (14)
I bought the G3 DVD, and it is awesome, althought eric johnsons music/songs are on the mellow side, i know now why he is part of the G3, he is truly a great guitarist, an expert very calculated and lightning fast. the whole DVD is amazi ng, joe and steve vai's playing and choice of songs is great, although i wish that on the dvd there should have been m ore songs. its only 74 minutes approx. I also suggest that a live DVD be made of the EOC tour. The concert really r ocked. the most amazing musical experience i have ever had. (April 25th)
Joe if you are reading this, the engines tour was extreme, and all of us are agree that your concert in NORWAY was fa ntastic, (even better than
Iron maiden`s Metall 2000.) i Hope you are in the studio, making a new and crazy record right now. A engines of creati on-concert on DVD could be ok.
allrightythan.PLESE COME BACK TO NORWAY ON YOUR NEXT TOUR, WE LOVE YOU HERE

tickets for the cave creek concert can be found at www.ticketsunlimited.com or

joe to play on short notice. have fun
Hey Joe...I have read a few posts lately about what sort of feel you should create on the next cd. I personally think that you should keep being Joe...and write the same style of music that you always have! Anyway, "thank you so very much...for your beautiful, heartfelt music! Jake
Sorry for the double-post, but I just found a very old recording of me playing Not Of This Earth when I was 15 hehe i f anyone is interested, here is the url to take a listen http://members.home.net/kingmj/Matt-King-NOTE.mp3 Later...
Yep, coming to the defence of my friends (and I consider Joe a friend) is a bad habit. My bad. Your first post sounded far from being a razz. Again, my bad. And yes, I'm very young. Thirty-six to be exact. Obviously, you don't know me a t all. My sense of humor stays intact until somebody gets ignorant, which IMHO, you did very well. Joe is a man like a ny other. If he wasn't "above the law" to be able to finish his set, why would he be above the law to do anything else ? I've said my part on this subject and so have you, so let's stop taking up room on the forum and forget about it. pe ace**

STUUUUUUU: THANKS A MILLION for signing my shirt and tickets. I know that it's a longshot that you'll come over here w ith your solo tour, but since you basically played a 90-minute solo tonight (and rest assured, I could hear every fill you were doing during the songs) and had a chance to talk to you for a moment, it's as good as it'll probably get. Go od things happen to good people :) . =======BERRT:It was great. Don't know if you'll also get the 5 band show (if you do, it lasted 5 hours, so rest well before!) but Stu was by far the best musician on stage. I heard people behind me ( you know, (oYo)) saying: "the bass player is doing all the lead guitarist's solos", so you'll enjoy it. Go to the righ t of the stage==============I'm as happy as a little girl right now. I'd better get drunk. Later.
HEY JOE!! Nothing interesting at all, Just WHITEWATER RAFING to save my place. rdubiel@satchontheGrand.org SEE YA!!

One Final Word
I WAS thinking of taking a legal action against the organisers.
just spoke with my lawyer,
sorry, those guys are covered....
Michelle lives in an awe of THE ARTIST,
SHE'll PERSONALLY defend him.
Also - she has no sense of humor at all.
I am not asking anybody to sacrifice their lives or
personal freedom for me
(although as a consumer I happen to be
more important than let's say a policeman
{who could be bribed if necessary}).
I am saying that in a situation where
the spectators are getting pooched
it is logical to expect of the artist
to throw some weight around
and at least MAKE THEM FEEL BAD.
That is all.
My Personal God of Music - Frank Zappa
would have (gladly) done just that.
We can't do it.
And one last thing about Michelle -
she must be young -
since she is naive enough to think
that ALL rules apply to EVERYONE.
Some do. Some don't.
G3 had the privilege to
be ABOVE THE LAW.
And any moron (except Michelle)
should easily recognise THAT.
On a ligter note - my first posting was
more of a razz than anything else.
I appreciate the fact that they
performed AT ALL despite the delay
and a relatively small crowd.
But I was also pissed off seeing all those
monotonously boring apologies from the fans.
Apologies are needed - yet NOT FROM THEM.
(ok, I'll spell it out for those whose IQ rivals the number of their fingers -
IT'S THE ORGANISER'S FAULT - THEY SHOULD APOLOGIZE!!!)
Hell - I would apologize for a LACK OF a riot!!!
Mr Satriani - some people here think that I (and people like me)
could stop you from tournig (or coming back to KL).
I hope you understand that not ALL your fans are idiots.
I DO like your music, I DO enjoy your shows.
Hope your NEXT show in Malaysia will be better
(sic! - chopped liver is BETTER organised than the last show)
organised - and if and when that happens -
I'll be there to enjoy it.
Peace in your lifetime
Szymon
Hey Joe, sorry to hear about the fiasco in Malaysia... that was not cool. Anyways I'm proud to serve in the US Marine Corps and just wanted to let you know there are many die hard Satch fans out in all branches of the US armed forces ( but espically in the Marines). Your music keeps us motivated out in the field, my squad and I don't know what we wou ld do if we couldn't play your music while out on marches in the boondocks. Thanks for the awesome show at the Warfie ld on April the 14th, we hope to see you around the Bay Area real soon.
I have been a fan of joes ever since i started playing, and i have always wondered what he uses to get his guitar to s ound how it does. So could you send my a copy of your set-up (amps, guitars, effects) Thanks.

Joe do you like the Ohio State Buckeyes? They lost to Purdue today. rats
nannok2- You can go to http://www.alternatix.com/ to purchase tix for the Cave Creek Music Festival. Among the guests will be Joe, Sammy Hagar, and Alice Cooper. Should be a Crushing Day in Phoenix..........Can't Wait Joe!!!
I wanna be more popular. I think I'll go get arrested! NOT! I don't think that Joe would get arrested to improve his popularity. lol! If you think that makes a person some kind of hero...well, whatever floats yer boat dude. Joe (G3) mi ght have gotten paid (as they should have for their time and travel and 1/2 a performance), but the bands(G3) were far from happy with the outcome of the show. I don't understand why Joe getting arrested would make ANYTHING any better. What I meant by following the laws doesn't mean to follow blindly. If there is a law that is hurting people or their w ay of life, then it should be changed, or challenged. The 1:00 a.m. curfew (or whatever it was) doesn't seem like such a bad law. In this one particular case, it sucked hard, but overall I'm sure it doesn't hurt to many ppl. or their wa y of life. The promoters should give the fans their money back. They are the ones who need to step up and make this ri ght, not Joe. He did his part.
THIS IS THE WORST POSITION A GUITARIST CAN BE IN!!! i'm very good technically....i'm learning more and more about musi c but where do i go? what do i learn next? ahhhhhh!!!!!
Hey wow, I can say "damn" now without having to write "d@mn"...cool...I won't attempt to test the system any further.. .hahah. I was also looking at Yngwie's set-up today, the one with 28 (yes 28) 50-watt heads and 31 (printed correctly again) 4X12s....he might have gone a little overboard with that one.

does anyone know anything about the cave creek gig? like where to get tickets as
it is only two weeks from now! who else is playing? how long will joes set be?
if anyone knows anything please respond!!!thx
FORGOTTEN.......WAOOOOOOHHHHH.........PERFECT..........Joe really makes the guitar "crying" in this song's solo i thin k....and the solo of the Crushin'd Day is really coolllllllllllllllllllll.....i don't now if you are interested or not ..but i think to compare Satch and Yngwie Malmsteen is rubbish.Sath is really making music.but Malmsteen is -very fast ly- going down&up on the scales.he doesn't do anything different i think.Malmsteen's songs are for the children who ne w began to play guitar.but Joe Satiani is one of the best compositors on the earth.(not only guitarist)
hello Mr. Joe Satriani! My name is Nuno Sobral and i´m a really big fan of your magnific muisic and i just want to gui ve a hand shake to the master of the masters. Alex
Hi everybody! I'm never buying concert tickets on the day of the show. 11 extra dollars for 2 tickets? That's almost 4 beers! Or a 12-pack at the 7-11. Man. I'll try my best to post tomorrow. STOOOOOOOOOOO: See ya tonight!! Watch for th e Satch fan club shirt! You may be asked to sign it!!:) . Later.
ZSAMPON: Yeah, Joe should have let himself get arrested and then caned. Can you possibly be that stupid?? Why don't you come here to America and disobey the law in NYC. Then see what happens. And we're considerably mild on criminal punishment. If Joe kept playing, the police wouldn't have just said, "hey OK, get in the car, let's go." They would have placed his hands in handcuffs and dragged him into the car.
Hey dudes hows it going ? I really hope we get to see you in the UK sometime soon Joe .. I've really got to catch a gi g sometime .. i hope it will improve my own playing :) I have a lot of respect for people ...
WHEN CAN WE SEE the NATIONAL ANTHEM?
HOW CAN I SEE JOE'S SHOW THAT WAS on UPN?
Hey y’all, it’s been awhile since I’ve posted. I’m between jobs, so I don’t have a desk, a phone, or a PC (hence, no web access @ work). I usually log on @ lunch because we have a T3 connection there, but dial-up from home will have t o do. I’ll be in Mesa, AZ, the week that Joe’s playing there in Cave Creek. I think I’ll just hop on over, see the s how, and fly out Sunday. Now how cool is that? To have to go to training, and it just happens to be within 1 hour fr om where Joe’s playing. Too cool!! ***BEYONDSUNNY*** That is some great info. ***XROB*** My bad. I think it may be YaYo that lives near me, but then I could be wrong about that, as well. Oh well…
Hi, I'm new here
I'm interesting in guitar, so I buy any cassette that relate to it
One of the are ur's
I really want to a good guitarist like u
But, I'm lack of knowledge about Tab, and other things about guitar,
because in my country, it is rare to see some books about guitar technics
So, now I'm really tired to play it
Hey Joe!!! Sorry about the Malaysian thing. Yeah, those promoters had their heads way up their bungholes on that dea l. They do owe you an apology. If you want to come to a cool Asian country to play then come to the Philippines Joe. You have tons of fans here and they would really appreciate your awesome talent!! Any new music written yet? Can't wait for another album already. Steve Morse, and Vinnie Moore for G3 or.....Gary Hoey and Marty Friedman....or Steve Vai and Eric Johnson (again) or....John Petrucci and Eddie Van Halen. For B3 Victor Wooten, Stu, and Dave Larue from Steve Morse Band. Later Joe

Querido amigo Joe:

Hello, Joe Satriani..I've wanted to comment an appology about your g3 tour..my question to you of the nite iss...Are y ou still gonna come out to Bay Area, california still?? around xmas, new years holidays??I hopes everythings are healing on bad times ..hopes all will be better and good next times..I think,Satch 3d skills can fit in your guitar solos ban d..I think, hes gonna make great talents grow faster then he'd ever expected..I know that he'll performs alot better if matt keeps up his practice skills..hopes to see you personally after concerts in futures..peace..~Danny~
nuke 'dem bastards! LOL everyone that loves satch will be spared....I love your music Mr. Satriani....i know i'd be a little cranky if i flew to timbuktu and played 2 songs then be stormed by the commi basTURDS. A little jail time wou ld have made you an international hero though bro....and trust me.... to many people....you already are. Lets try to organize some peace and keep the violent meximoheegan bamboo packin police force out of music forever! Stay strong sa tch fans in malyasia! The youngest fan here.....and i'm convinced that i'm the ONLY teenager that is into Joe's music . Well....i've converted 1 person so far.....well actually i think joe did the converting when me and my bro johnatho n saw him live in orlando FL....Keep it real...
hey in the rentak asia i was one of the guys manning the two huge spotlight on the 4 storey platform in front of the s tage. man i'm also satch fan and what i can say is that they shouldn't have performed in conjunction with the festival . instead they should have come as g3 and perform mebbe in an auditorium or something like that cause the sound system that night sucks. being on the high position means i could actually hear the sound coming out as a whole. which sadly to say wasn't that good. the balancing wasn't good either cause satch guitar almost sounded like bunch of loud noises . but anyway i was kinda frustrated when they decided to cut off satch in the middle of satch boogie. well they should have compromised little bit so that the 3 gods could come out and play well at least a song.. c'mon we didn't go ther e for come crappy bands( sadly to say even i'm a malaysian, the local band ramli thing sucks a lot with bunch of pathe tic music who knows nothing but aweful screams! there was a time in the middle of a song where we could see 3 guitaris ts (one of them was man keedal which dressed up like yngwie malmsteen)) jamming together trying to form their own g3.. . i was laughing like hell almost losing my balance on the platform "vomitting blood" all the way gee hope someone rea lized how aweful they were.. so i hope that Mr Satriani could consider coming back to malaysia and do it right this ti me.
I remember reading an interview with Joe around the time Surfing came out and he said that he used a Strat for a lot o f the stuff on Not Of This Earth. I believe that the white Ibanez on the cover of Dreaming #11 was his back up guitar on the Surfing tour. Did not see him play it that tour on three separate dates, but it was in the house.
Err, hi there ... I'm just really curious and really want to know how Joe felt when he was asked to leave the stage du ring the Rentak Asia festival. I was there, right at the front of the stage standing for a few hours desperately wait ing for the 3 Gs to perform and jam together. It was really a great disappointment and apparently the production unit of that festival does not wish to be held responsible. The papers even stated that Rentak Asia will try to get the 3 Gs back next year which I personally think is highly ambitious. So I was just wondering what Joe truly feels about al l these and if he really would even think about performing in Malaysia at all again. Others' comments are welcome too
Yamboy/ Webmaster - I remember a while back some guy did this to people on the list and gave him heck. I wonder if it 's the same guy? Perhaps we should post his email address on this forum so we can all drop him a line letting him kno w about feelings on spammers. Take care all.
I NEED TO KNOW!!! Are JOE'S PERSONAL CHROMEBOYS (not the JS10 limited edition) made of LUTHITE or BASSWOOD??.......... ......................................I wrote that Gary Brawer guy to ask him and he ignored my mail.... Oh and for th e rest of you who wanted to know what Joe's guitar is on the cover of NOTE and Dreaming #11, it's an Ibanez 540P (Powe r Series), the precurser to the 540 Raduis, which became the JS...Whether he actually used it on any albums...I don't know, because on the original back cover of NOTE Joe was playing his "spare parts" guitar, and on the inside of Dreami ng #11, he had a Radius. The 540p does show up in the Satch Boogie video, but I don't know whether Joes really recorde d with it. Anybody else know???.....................Yeah Webmaster, getting spammed does get old..........I'm a little sad about Joe's old main guitar (the scribbley one) being in the Hard Rock Cafe. I mean, it's a great tribute to Joe and all, but it just seems like a waste for an instrument with so much beautiful history to collect dust, even if it's in a museum. I hope that Joe loaned it to them and didn't give it away, so he could just cruise over there and pick i t up of he wanted it... Does anybody know which Hard Rock it's actually in? BTW I just won an auction on a chromeboy f rom a guy named AozoraVXI, has anyone ever dealt with him? I can't wait to get it!!!! Does it sound any different from a basswood JS1000?

*§*§* Hey Satch, have you ever thought about working with DAVE EGGAR? He's a world renowned pianist. He's young too, and has a real feel for music and melodies. Check out his album: "SERENITY". I think the two of you would work well t ogether. *§*§*

About the Malaysia gig..
well..the police definately had the right to step in..i do not blame them
to play a late night gig..u need a license and the license does expire at a
certain time and by that time continueing the gig is..illegal..
So whose fault is it ??
definately not joe,eric or steve
nor the fans..
in my view the same goes for the police.,
the organisers of the gig are to blame..they did not hire a proper sound crew and perhaps tried to fit in too many per formances in a day..
i don't think joe would have been put in jail at all..
the organisers have to take full responsibility
maybe that was just a misunderstanding on their part joe..
don't take it so harsh..sigh..now seeing that this has happened i doubt i would
ever get to catch your gig in KL again :( .
Hi everybody!YA YO: Try www.twec.com, search for Satriani and you'll find it 4 bucks more expensive than what I paid a t THEIR OWN STORE here in El Paso. Weird===========BERRT: Saturday's show is in El Paso, TX. Border town with Mexico a nd New Mexico. Got a little bit of everything here. Jaguares' music is more like pop-rock with some occasional flashes of latin sounds; it's something that the girls like more than the boys (last time I saw them I was literally surround ed by ( o Y o ) ). You'll probably enjoy the view as much as the show. Then again, we're both going to see STOOOO, so we may not even notice it.===========NEW POLL: Should I scream "STOOOOOOOO" the whole time that he's up on stage? Or s hould I just ask him for picks?========I'm with Zenn La. BLACK METAL BANJOE for G3. Later.
You know, I'm very sad today, my wife has been telling me for ages that I was the best lover in the world...It turns o ut that she didn't know I had ASTHMA!!
(Just thought i'ld try my hand at humor) Ronnie
Yo Joe,
I'm listening to Engines Of Creation as I keyboard. I just got it this week. Quite a change in style from Surfing With The Alien and The Extremist. I dig it.
One thing I really appreciate about your recordings is that there are no vocals. There are few people who vocalize tha t have any talent. My main interest is jazz. Your CD could be classified as rock-jazz fusion if a classification is ne eded. Thanks for many hours of enjoyable listening. I may be your oldest fan...I'm 64.

lepper2, i agree with you. the fact that satriani stayed was something that made the wait worth it. i really hope joe comes back..............fans of satriani.com unite against the evil rentakasia.................no one is picking up th eir phone, cowards......does anyone know where their office is exactly? i know that it is near IBM in taman tun dr ism ail but i cannot seem to find it. please come back and everyone i met at the concert, hope to meet you all someday aga in.
Dear Joe,
I'm a french fan and I have ever think that an exclusive acoustic album must be very interesting. With your chord's sc ience and your feeling, I'm sure that this album could be THE best. When I heard the acoustic and banjo's chords of "R ubina's Blue Sky Happiness", I'm so convinced. Perhaps a day...
How's it goin smokin' joe? i auditioned for an Australian music school (Queensland University Of Technology) by playin g midnight and big bad moon. fingers crossed. You're a total legend and my main inspiration. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE come to Australia.
MARTY FOR G3 !!! any news on the national anthem giants thingy ? if you are e-mailing vh-1 e-mail them from different address' so they don't think it's the same people........ Yngwie's site had something where they were asking for help to get Yngwie on VH1 and they put him on "where are they now?" i don't think we want joe there! PLUM LOCO - never trie d one of them, but i played a 57' les paul ! sounded very wierd to me.......maybe cause it was a les paul? ELPP - i w ant the satch tapes! ahhhh 1 day! MARTY FOR G3 !
Szampon. Sorry to say, it's people like you who'd make people like Satriani NOT want to come to Singapore or Malaysia or anywhere. The actual fact that Joe stayed on until 4am is GREATNESS in itself. And what's more his flight was the v ery same morning. Thanks a lot Joe, Stu, Vai, Mike, Eric and everyone else in the G3 team. Hope to have you back. Pret ty please!

Hey Szampon - good call on the Michelle front. Rule number 1: In a foriegn

the amount of time he spends at his own site, I would imagine that there is an

hello michelle,
here are the facts:
1. the Malaysian gig was a screwup
2. the audience could do nothing, won't event get any refunds
3. the organizers only knew how to f**k it all up
4. the only person that COULD have changed anything was the STAR
(or his menagers)
YET NOTHING HAPPENED
the crowd went home pissed off (some of the kids waited 18hrs, no washroom calls, till 4am!!!)
the arteeests went home pissed off (yet payed)
the organisers are claiming a huge success
and I think that the minimum that could have happened is
a little embarrasement
even if it takes a personal sacrifice
(btw, jails in Malaysia are reserved almost exclusively for the political opposition)
from mr Satriani's point of view even a short stay in one of them
(if it ever came to it - which I seriously doubt!)
would only add to his popularity
(I could see a real nice Late Night Show interview here..)
oh, and please stop telling me why and what mr Satriani thinks
unless he tells you that personally
on a lighter note - your rule No.1 proves to me that
there is really a lot you should learn about life
showing an example in civil disobediance against a totalitarian regime
is a virtue (ask the pope, but in your book HE might not be the brightest crayon...)
peace in your lifetime

hi joe,
i was the guy met you in malaysia airport. it is really frustrated for cutting your session. the trip really used up a lot of my money... but, finally, cutting the show... my friend was much more frustrated as he is really your fans! as steve said, "it's a shame!"
let's see whether they would apologise or not... let's have "fax bomb" to them!
try to get the fax no. from steve's message board!
Hah, I wonder if we'll get some angrier music out of Joe for his next thing
due to the Mal-Asian debacle. I'm all in for Joe's NORDIC BLACK METAL
themed album. P.S. Joe really ought to do the last song in the
'Silver Surfer' trilogy - that is, if 'Attack' ain't it...... peace P.P.S.
Atari Teenge Riot for G3 - their 'G' is for guns!
I think the whole South China Sea area is still way into playing bamboo chutes, beating on bongos, and running around in loin cloth. Who'd want to play there anyway...sorry to hear that it wasn't a nice night. Something usually very p ositive happens after something like that...you think??
HEY ZSTAMPON~ GET A GRIP! This is a reality check Sparkey! Why in God's name would Joe and his mates want to get arres ted in freakin' Malaysia? To be jailed for who knows how long, under nasty conditions of a foreign prison. PLEEEZE! If that's what it takes in your mind to have balls, your not the brightest crayon in the box! We all understand that you r angry, but dude, Joe isn't the one to take it out on. Joe hates to disappoint an audience. He would have finished hi s set under the conditions of it being very late and raining (or whatever the weather was), but to ask him to be arres ted so you can feel he's a REAL man...HA! I don't think so! Joe feels just as bad as the fans that he didn't get to fi nish the show. We all feel bad for the fans, but somehow I don't think any REAL fan of Joe's would want him arrested. Here's a tip: Rule #1 in the USA- if your in a foreign country, follow the laws! michelle@sh*tforbrains.com

Hello Joe: That Malasia incident sounded horrible. It's great to see blue though. I was just wondering something the other day. Do you get home sometimes and just sit and play ...for example satch boogie or midnight. I thought it was kinda neat that I play songs you've written over and over I wonder if you do the same? On your own time. Or do you "leave the guitar at the office". Just wondering. BIGGEST JS FAN EVER: Here's a site for tabs. It's a pretty cool site but it also has a loooong list of tabs sites. Okay folks...looks like this is the last post from me until Monday. Tomorrow afternoon, I'll be headed back up to New York City to witness the spectacle that is the Ozric Tentacles. WHOOOOOO-HOOOOOOOO!!!!! And folks, this is going to be the weekend I LIVE IT UP!!! At the very least, I'm coming home with a hangover that would make a corpse look whacked on Vivarin! I don't have a girlfriend, nor am I taking any gal pals (only Gannman) so if I come home with my weiner wrapped in Ace bandages also, so be it! Ed Wynne and gang had better prepare for a dose of the RUBBER GUITAR TREATMENT!!! Got a surprise for Zia Geelani, also...I'm bringing a rubber bass, too! And I'm going to be whamming that thing to "Xingu"! Okay, gotta go. Got one more job to work, a house to clean up, and preparations galore to make B4 2morrow rears it's head. Time to gather all my Ozrix CDs, my rubber instruments, my tickets, and plenty of spending $$$. Also...making it a POINT this time around during my recovery from the first show on Firday night and before the next one Saturday night to crawl my dead hungover ass out of bed and find time to ride the Staten Island Ferry in an attempt to crack off a DECENT picture of the "Statch O' Libb"!! I'll tell you all the grimy details next week. Kudobombs!!! P.S. --- I may be getting my own website for my music in the next TWO WEEKS! Stay tuned...
I just wanted to say that you're new album is incredible, you always seem to come up with something new with your music. I'm pretty sure you could play some of those songs in a rave and it would kick ass. Hope you're well. TJBCMX.

Hi Joe...
Just have read your message...It must be really annoying when these things happen. But some countries stil haven´t learned how to act towards people. I am sure that the fans over there will understand, and not blaim you but the authorities in Malaysia. It is too sad that some human beings still do this commy authority thing. Hope they will kick their asses.
Anyway....have a nice time and dont worry about the past...

I Joe I'm from Alberta, Canada and I have been a fan of yours for 10 years. I love your material and your creativity has been very inspirational to me. I saw you in concert in Edmonton, Alberta about 9 years back. I was so impressed with the whole performance. It was just so real. Just form watching and listening to your bandmates play, I would have to say that your one of the best concerts I have ever been to. After I saw you in concert I wrote you a letter. I new I had to let you know somehow how much of an inspiring person you are to me. I remember getting a letter back a few weeks later from Oakland, California. I totally didn't expect you to write me back. That told that you really do care alot about your fans and I was so pleased to be one of them. So I just want to say thank you very much for acknowledging my letter of appreciation. I still believe that you are the best guitar player alive!!!!!
I don't want any money.
I just want Joe.

Joe,
Could you explain what you do when you put both hands near your pickups and have a squealing/harmonic type sound. You do this on Satch boogie...Many thanks
Jase
arrrgh...not only are those guys spammers, they're stupid spammers. ibanez is not a korean company; they are based out of japan and owned by another company called hoshino. the js1000, the guitar that joe plays is NOT made in korea; it is a japanese guitar and has superior quality and materials than that of the js100. THAT'S WHY IT COSTS MORE. the js700 (the mahogony guitar with the p90s, wraparound stoptail and cherry translucent finish) is also made in korea. but the js1000 is a japanese guitar. if you want to b*tch about that to anyone, b*tch to ibanez for subcontracting for the cheaper model. but why b*tch at all? sure the js100 and js700 (discontinued) are/were made in korea, but it allows them to offer a cheaper model at a lower price for those who want to play joe's guitars but can't afford to shell out $1000 - $1500 for the real deal. what's the problem with that? the other guitarist in my band has a js700 and let me tell you, if i could still get one, i'd buy it in a heartbeat; that thing rocks. so instead of wasting your time and our space spamming the board, why don't you do something more productive? i'm sure you, your sexwax and your hand can have more fun than cutting and pasting a phrase over & over in a message box...
STUUU, my music teacher loves the new album!!! He says you are quite an artist!!! I couldnt agree more man!!! SEE YA IN VEGAS!!!!! ELPP----How was the show???? STU HAMM, VICTOR WOOTEN, STEVE BAILEY...B3!!! :+)

Hello Joe!
I went to your concert on 8th July 2000 at the Olympia in Paris!it was incredible and too beautifull!! You have played a great part of your main songs of each album and it was wonderfull, but why don't you play Surfing With the Alien? it is a hero music!!! I hope that you will play it the next time when you will be in France for another and wonderfull road!!
thanks for all,it was fantastic!!
How do you do??!!What is your secret??!!
Joe, why is it that you never play Time Machine in concert? Such a wonderful piece of music should not be forgotten.
Cencorship and a police state: remember, in our back yards a horrid, beautiful black-helicoptor swarm hums downwind.
Hi Joe,
I never had the time to thank you for the show in Lille France in June, that was great, second time I see you there, you're just brilliant. I found it much better without any first part band. And I think most people like it that way. ]
About your problem in Malaysia, I'm feel sorry about it, and also for the fans cause they really miss something good. Anyway, I have some friends from Malaysia and as you probably know it is mainly a Muslim country. So that's probalby a part of the problem.
I hope to see you soon in France or in England my two loactions.
See you ALEx

I think we need to pull brainspiller and snuffmovie off the Wolfie project and get them after sexwax. What does everybody think? Or Luini could ban their sorry butts, and if they come back, it's time for a call to their ISP. Failing that, I'm sure there is a heavily armed member who lives close enough to them to enforce some common sense.

Hi to all Satch fan out there!! K_Cool_B@Hotmail.com
I totally agree with Ya Ya Gakk. In the movie Conan the Barbarian the villain answered his question about the riddle of steel. He what is steel without the hand that wields it. The point is. It doesn't matter who or where the guitar is made. If it has the feel and tone that he or she likes. Who cares what morrons like you think! (Musikman2012 & sexwax2012) It's Obvious that Joe Plays the guitar thats right for him. Which he is known and plays all over the world. While you two sit at home thinking up dumb things to do and say. So give us a break, and act like you have some kinda sense, and maybe a little home training.
And quit wasting Joe's web space. Joe!!! Keep Rockin that Korean Chrome boy!!
I don't have either an Ibanez or a Stratocaster. I have a Gibson! and my own home made brand guitars!! I like to experiment with different exotic woods!!! Unfortunately, I have never had the opportunity to play an Ibanez but I have played an American Strat and I loved the sound it could make but I wasn't too fond of the buzzing sounds it made when sitting idle, so that's why I bought a Nighthawk!! It's like combining the sound of a Strat and a Les Paul....I can make many different sounds with that baby!! And a beautiful Cherry Sunburst to boot!! Hey Joe, have you ever tried the Gibson Nighthawk?? Good guitar!! No whammy but I think it's adaptable!! Plum Loco!!
WTF is wrong with korean guitars ? i used to be one of those USA made only type people then i realized strats suck and it doesnt matter where the guitar was made, as long as you like it....... i have an ibanez (not sure what model) looks like a jem, and a charvel..... the neckplate on it says "0409" and a texas PO box.....i heard it is made in japan, but it's alright, had a square piece of plastic under the neckplate which just HAD to go! i'm not too fond about rosewood fretboards though, i like maple better.....never tried ebony, anyone? oh ya, i used to have an old squire made in india!!! very wierd piece of sh*t that was...... possesed i say! someone put a wierd locking tremelo on it, wasnt kahler either.....some other canadian company, i ripped it out and filled the area and back where the springs go with bondo, sanded and painted it.....but the new bridge started pulling the bondo up, i was waiting for it to rip out and hit me in the forehead ! haha.......MARTY FRIEDMAN FOR G3 !!!!
Hey guys, I recorded "The Power Cosmic"...it is on tape right now, but if anyone wants to take a listen -- I will rip it off the tape if I get enough people interested :) Let me know!! Later...
Satch Is what really got me playing guitar, before him every chord I playd seemd weak, I have my own group and while I don't play rock I'm pretty sure you could find some of his influence in my music, Satriani Rules!

As for tab sites, ...======STOOOOOOOOOOO: SEE YOU SATURDAY! That's all for now. Later.
The hell is with the spammers?? If you have a problem with Koreans, express it elsewhere. It's not like Ibanez guitars are the only variety out there. Go buy and American Strat if you have a problem.
I vote that all spammers be banned...just eating up space... What do you say, Yea or Nae?!?! C'mon Webmaster, show some authority on this board! Paul Gilbert for G3!!! - Andrew
Hey Joe, tough break man, sorry. I feel sorry for the fans too. You know what would make you feel better? If you played a big concert in my backyard. If the cops were called, all of my friends and I would team up and attack them. Then we'd probably get beaten with clubs and arrested, but hey, we did it all in the name of Joe's music! Wait, that might give you a bad name. On second thought, just play a show in Philly again! Hahaha, see ya later.
SCREW OFF YOU BLASTED SPAMMERS! NO ONE CARES ABOUT YOUR CR@P!!! ..........JOE!!!!! you rule and you definately didn't deserve that treatment....i wonder what that was all about......ahh JOE doesn't normally reply....why would he now?

Just because I am not keen on american patriotism.....Joe was stopped from playing in Virginia not too long ago. Foul play at work there (see news). All countries have their good and they have their bad.
Stoooooo, I have been listening to 'Outbound' all day. I'm so amazed that a bass can tug the heart strings the way you play it. Incredible. I really love the album (except for one tiny wee bitty...the keyboard on the first song...I can't bear to listen to it..sorry...I absolutely adore the rest though). Excellent work.
Wow I've just made two criticisms on the same post...I must have had a bad day. I did walk for 6 miles across Atlanta. maybe thats the problem. I'll go get a rest and be vback cheerier and happier than ever. Later...Ronnie
Dear Joe,I couldn't sleep for almost three days for what had happened in Rentak Asia.Me and my girl been waiting for you for years to see you in action.I could not believe what had happened. If you thinking of coming back I know the right people to arrange it.

It's Ok Joe, we all know what it's like to get screwed.. not exactly like that! But it was out of your hands, the promoters should have stepped in and told those stinking cops to lay off! Especially if they had some sort of document stating that the performance was allowed to continue. I hate cops, they think they rule the world! Give them a little authority and they become drunk with power!! I wouldn't let it bother you Joe. I was pretty upset that someone would do that. Especially the so called law! I think a lawsuit is in order against the Malyasian authorities and the promoters of the event!! If I were you, I'd be skipping that country for awhile until they get their act together!! Peace Joe! And think on better things!!! Plum Loco a.k.a. Barrie Poole
hey joe, I've heard little details but from what I have heard I'm sorry about that malaysian incident. that sounds like it sucked big time. I've said this before but I'll say it again about how I was a bit disappointed that you played an 18+ show when you went to boston this year :( (i'm 15) either way you still are the man joe and I can't wait for you to play some boston/providence 18+ shows. James Murphy for G3!
Joe! Sorry to hear about the Malaysia fiasco. You should stick it in there faces and play for competing promoters there, make them sorry they screwed you guys over. Rock on, Joe, and Gary Hoey for the next American G3!!
And some people wonder why I have a problem with government and their stinkin' officials! This is a perfect example of why, to me, the good ol' US of A is so great......at least WE won't shut down Joe!
Hei Joe, the next time you and the guys, in other words you yourself plan to come down again, DO NOT GO THROUGH MCITIES!!!. Mcities is just plain rubbish. All talk but no action. I was angry about that police stuff. Couldn't they just have waited for at least half-hour to let you finish off your songs since it was already so late? I know you and the gang were flying off around 8.30am the same day and were willing to lose sleep just to perform for us. Just SCREW the organisers. People from Mcites who are reading this, you can KISS MY ASS!!!
Joe, I am so sorry about it. I hope that you will come back someday. Anyhow, I will be waiting for your return. Does anyone feel like its Star Wars all over again? Joe Skywalker battles the evil rentakasia empire and darth lourdes (george lourdes, the indian guy in all the posting) Lets hope theres a sequel and Joe Skywalker will show the evil rentakasia.
Also, I thought everyone would like this url,
http://www.mcities.com/?txtUrl=/frontPage/Front7-14.htm
it is the arsehole Indian Guy who shut Joe in the middle of Satch Boogie, GEORGE LOURDES. Read the article and laugh, especially the first few sentences. I have taken the liberty to include it in this message posting.
* The evidence (about George Lourdes) is palpable everywhere: this is one heads-up, no-nonsense,all-systems-go kinda person. No one can or will dare to accuse musical provocateur George Lourdes of mincing his words. *
I would highly recommend that they change the text soon. Also, mcities owns rentakasia. I hope they will do something really soon and answer their phone. So far, no one has been picking up and I am planning to go to their office personally. Joe you've been fantastic. best wishes.

Hi joe!!....really appreciate u guys for coming all the way to Malaysia .....and were're as pissed as u are after what happened!!
but we do miss a lot!!!.....hope to see u again though!!....bye and
take care!!
Hey Joe..
I couldn't agree more with you. After all this while, you just get shut off from your show. This is totally ridiculous. What I personally think that the promoters and organisers of RentakAsia were totally inexperienced and not ready to jump into organizing such a big event. If you do come down the next time round, me and all the fans would be waiting just to see you and G3 in action. What should be done was to get an organiser that has a long time experience in this concert stuff. At least there wouldn't be so much confusion and miscommunication. But no matter, although you didn't finish what you came to do, I strongly believe that the fans were really satisfied with you presence and we totally look forward to the next time you come down. You mean that the RenatkAsia committee had not apologised for the mishap? Well, SCREW THEM UP THEIR ASSES! Joe, you hang in there... I'll catch you around! Hope you like the songkok!
JOE! First time writing, LONG time fan. Just want to say thank you for enhancing my life with your wonderful music! Keep it going! Please! How do I buy tab books on this site? I want to play like Joe! Are you politicaly responsible? Who are you gonna vote for?
Hi Joe. Hope you have calmed somewhat! Like everyone else here my first thought was of how awful for you and the fans. I then read how someone (Adrian) was saying how great it was to see you at that concert, albeit for 2.5 songs. "it was a dream come true" he said. Isn't it humbling to have people love you and your music so much? Anyway, I am now resident in Atlanta having seen and met you in my native Scotland 5 times since 1990. (Remember you remarked on June 23rd at how you hadn't seen my F in a BD' T-shirt in years). I'm looking forward to my first US concert in the not too distant future. later..Ronnie
STUUUUU!!!! ROCK ON!!! Cant wait for VEGAS!!!! Shell was right though you need to take care of yourself!! Im on the go about 20 hours a day, between college, my band, and my lousy job, and Im barely staying healthy. GOOD LUCK TO YA THOUGH!! :+) STUU HAMM, VICTOR WOOOTEN, STEVEEE BAILEYYY.... Joe, Oh my!.... i can't believe that happened to you guys in over there!..... better off not playing than in jail I suppose. Ouch, what a wasted trip. How did the fans really react when you couldn't play any longer? Did Eric and Steve get to play their sets? That's all for now. Take care Joe.... -Ryan
Hey Joe,
WE MALAYSIANS ARE REALLY,REALLY SORRY FOR WHAT HAPPENED THAT NIGHT IN MALAYSIA.
We were so totally exhausted with all the sound checks and the long hours but all that withstanding i was still happy to have shared that one moment (short as it was)with the other G3/Satriani fans out there that night watching you play.
YOU WERE SIMPLY MAGICAL!!!I can understand you not coming back here..maybe Singapore? You inspire the guitarists here as much as anywhere else..hope you will consider.
THANKS SO MUCH FOR COMING AND ENDURING..you guys truly are heroes!
Hmmn...missed the National Anthem by about a month. Oh well, I finished my HOLY BIBLE (not kiddin'). Joe, please make a classical music album. Love and peace in tha US and Mideast!!!

WOW joe.....threatened with jail ? i dunno about malaysian jails but im sure they suck....... when i first heard about G3 in malaysia (original G3) i said "what the?" it didn't make sense......then sh*t hit the fan down there, that sucks......i would be just as mad, if not more so..... take care! MARTY FRIEDMAN for G3.....in the US of A !!!!!
Damn :-/
All I gotta say is thank you for your wonderful show at the SF Warfield in April.. just keep it comin', joe - we're all right here, and we still love ya!

I agree, the press conference organisation was terrible as well. There was no publicity on the event and I was told that it would start at 6. Then, I heard it would start at 4. When I reached there at 5, apparently, it had started at 2pm. As a result, there were few people there. (Not that I complained) But it would have been cool if they had seen what a great reception they could have gotten if people had notice about the schedules.
About the signing in Bentleys, that was equally screwed up. The people working there launched on some power trip and hurried everyone along. They assumed that all everyone wanted was a signature and that was it. I suspect that most of the people there would have foregone that signature just to have 1 minute to talk to their idol. I'm still not sure if the staff was rushing the fans (who lined up in the rain) or G3.
Basically, from beginning to ending, the whole organisation and event was a mess.
I was there during the Malaysian show, I was filming the event for my company.
The whole show supposed to end at 1am, but due to the poor organized stage management, Joe have to wait till 4am.....and G3 was just a dream for those fans standing down there the whole day.....I hope to get some information from your side bout what happened and what they said (aspecially George), by this I can come out with a write-up and post it on our website. I mean I want people to know how what was happening and how bad the whole event was organized, including the press confference......thanks Joe!!!
HEY JOE!! Good to see some blue and a fresh page! Besides that I'm just going to leave some WHITEWATER RAFTING here so I can find my way back. rdubiel@satchontheGrand.com SEE YA!!

Hi Joe
its really good to get a post from you here....
Hi Joe!! i´m very sorry, i can´t believe what i read about Malasya, this is a crazy world, and gods like you are missunderstooded, but go on, you are the best and you´ll be the best for ever.
Your uruguayan friend,
Sebastian
Hey Joe! how is everything? I have been playing guitar now for 4 years and have gotten very good. I can play better than my friends who have been playing for 7 or 8 years. And its all because of your music. It strongly influences me. I'm at a point in my life were I have to deside what I want to do in college.
I absolutly love music, and want to write it. But I'm not sure I have what it takes for that. Do you ever feel like there are some things you just can't play. Do you always challenge yourself? I try to, but its getting hard. What would be your advice to me in this situation. I have so much respect for you joe, you are a brilliant musician, and I thank you. here is my

Dear Joe: You rocked even though you were just warming up in Malaysia. Like many here, I share the guilt of what happened at RentakAsia. Saturday night's fiasco left me kicking myself repeatedly. It made me ashamed to be Malaysian. Calling it the biggest gaffe I've ever witnessed is, well, not enough. It was the most monumental display of inefficiency I've ever seen. I was angry, I still can't get over it. Joe, I'm really sorry about what happened. It was such a freakin' waste of your time to fly all the way here get shoved, and the same goes for G3, of course. I think all of us who were there are really pissed at the injustice. It's a crying shame, plus the fact that you were waiting backstage for hours. I remember when you took the stage because people who had been dozing off suddenly came running from all directions towards the centre. The place came alive again. Anyway, I hope I get the chance to hear you play again someday though that's probably a pipe dream. I wouldn't blame you if you don't come back, but I hope you will, because a lot of us here think you're really amazing.

sorry to hear things like that Joe....It sounds like a big mess....I hope it never happens to you again....later

CHEERS
MICHELLE SMITH
Joe, while I can't empathize with your situation, I do know the cure... play your guitar. The greatest gift of the human body is the ability to manifest emotions through your hands. When I'm stressed out, I just plug into my sound and make the s#@$ wish it hit the fan. Let it out.
hey joe. geez!! that sounds absolutely horrible!! dam dude. . . for anyone in college, should a ONE CREDIT HOUR class be driving me nuts?!?!?! argh!!!! but on a good note, i think i've finally decided to be an astronomer. its what i've always wanted to be. i think i was just scared at first. this decision has come through much thinking and listen to joe's music. again, mr satriani, thanks for following your dream!! i can only imagine how disgruntled and appauled you are over this who malaysian deal. . . i hope someday those guys realize that they stopped a master at his craft. . . keep ur head up and keep playing that geetar of yours!! talk to ya later. . . leon. . . 8-)
oe, Thanks for performing at the concert in Malaysia. At least it gave us the chance to watch you live even though it was for 2.5 songs. It was a dream come true for me. I have been waiting for this for a very long time. I even thought about travelling to whichever country you were going to perform in during the EOC tour but all of them were in Europe, US and S America which is too expensive for me. I am from Singapore and with u going to perform in Malaysia, that was the best chance for me to catch u live. Thanks.
I know u were pissed abt what happened. I was too but considering that I got to watch u perform and might never get the chance again unless u come to somewhere in Asia or Australia. I hope this does not affect any future plans u have of performing in the region. U should maybe consider playing in Singapore sometime. I know there were a lot of ppl from Singapore who travelled all the way to Malaysia to catch the concert.
Joe, I'm really really sorry. You sound pissed. And rightly so. I'm trying to get hold of them jokers at Rentakasia and Mcities. I'll try to get them begging for your forgiveness. Please forgive us the fans.
JOE.....that's bloddy terrible considering how hard you've been working overall... i mean the concert i was at must be history cause you're always out there! ....i hear ya JOE! .....JOE YOU RULE AND YOU KNOW IT!!! --BIGGEST JS FAN EVER (Richard Haier)
Hi Joe. Are you playing in Phoenix on Nov.11? There have been ads for the Cave Creek Music Fest that list you as one of the performers. Hope it's true 'cause I already bought tickets.

Hey Joe, YOU ARE THE MAN!!!!!!! I have never heard a better musican than you
Hi Joe! At least you got to see the F1 race (you did see the race, right?) Please consider the live CD\DVD idea, and I'll try not to ask you for more than 10 autographs the next time you come to El Paso! :) Peace.
JOE!! It's good to see blue. I'm very sorry that you and the guys had such a hassle over there in KL. I prefer the US to anywhere else. I can see that you're not happy about the whole deal. And I agree with you about the fans. I guess that if the police were threatening you, I'd have got off the stage, as well. It wasn't your fault, and I'm sure that you and the crew did everything possible to continue. Have a rest, and try to enjoy some down time with your family. Take care, and God Bless. HEy, XROB. I can't believe that we're both from FL and we both just posted so close to Joe. L8R
HEY JOE!!: Sucks about the Malaysian show...I heard some people were standing for 12 hours. What I don't understand is why they stopped it at 4AM? If the promoters recognized the show could not be finished, they should have stopped it and rescheduled for the next day. It's unfair that they barred you from enjoying a G3 jam and also to the fans, who paid relatively high prices to see their 3 favorite guitarists perform. Oh well....it isn't the United States. Get some rest and keep us informed!!
...a fresh page for all!... now about that Malaysian show... what's up with
those police? ...after three months of planning and interviews, and
thousands of miles to get there, and more interviews and signings, I'm
kept waiting until 4:00 am only to be threatened with jail if I didn't stop
playing and leave the stadium... we had just managed to play 2 1/2 songs,
for an audience who had endured some pretty lousy conditions and hours
of delays over a two day period...the whole thing was completely screwed
up!!!...I'm waiting for some kind of apology and explanation from the
promoters...the fans got screwed even more! they should get their money
back!!...too mad to continue, later, joe......
