Joe gets better each time I see him play and it is a pleasure to watch. Not only is he the best but you can tell by watching him that he really enjoys playing. His own enjoyment of his music comes across on each CD and each live show.

WHAT A SHOW !! THE ALIEN DID IT AGAIN. HE TOOK US ALL TO THAT PLACE HE COMES FROM AND LEFT US SCREAMING FOR MORE. IT WAS AN UNBELIEVABLE SHOW, AGAIN. HE STARTED OUT SMOKIN' AND LEFT ON FIRE. I HAVE SEEM HIM SO MANY TIMES, THAT I REALLY WONDERED IF THIS WAS JUST GONNA BE ANOTHER SHOW. WHAT A SURPRIZE/DELIGHT. HE PLAYED 6 or 7 SONGS OFF THE NEW CD WITH FRESH PASSION AND ENERGY AND TOOK THEM OUT THERE TO INFINITY, FLAWLESSLY. HE IS TRUELY THE MOST AMAZING LIVE GUITAR PLAYER IN THE UNIVERSE. HE LEFT A FULL HOUSE ON THEIR FEET, WANTING THIS NIGHT TO NEVER END. HE TOOK SIX STRINGS AND MADE SONIC CREATIONS AND RIPPED BLAZING RIFFS TO THEIR LIMIT. IT WAS INCREDBLE. THE INTRO TO COOL #9 AND THE ENDING TO ALWAYS WITH YOU-ALWAYS WITH ME, WERE PHENOMINAL. IF YOU CAN SEE SATCH ON THIS TOUR, BE THERE. YOU WILL LOVE IT. OK ENOUGH SAID. THANX JOE AND ALL THE GUYS. p.s. Eric Johnson was a non factor. Stale, boring and uneventful. Sorry...

WOW! In case you didn't get that, I repeat: WOW! This was my 4th Satch show (not counting 3 G3's) & it was absolutely the best one yet. Way better than the last tour. You all know the setlist, so I won't bore you with a song-by-song. I'll just hit the highlights. Eric Johnson was very smooth. He is just a tad too jazzy for my taste, but he is an amazingly distinctive talent. He definitely has a unique style & sound. I thought his band had a really cool 70's look with the long-sleeve dress shirts & big open collars. Very retro! Now, on to the Satchman. I've seen his band play as a 3-piece, as a 4-piece with #4 guy leaving the stage for certain songs. I've seen him play with Stu Hamm, Eric Cuadieaux (I'm sure I misspelled that!), Matt Bissonnette, Galen Henson, & now with Dave La Rue. This band, as a 4-piece on every song, was the ultimate. The new songs were great especially "Crowd Chant." That was probably the best version of "Always With Me..." that I've ever heard. "Ice 9," which is usually played at breakneck pace, was slowed to it's original tempo (like on the CD!) & achieved a rather nice, grinding groove. I thought "Ten Words," got a very poor audience reaction, though. It wasn't necessarily a low-point, just kind of a misfire. Anyway, I don't remember the last time I smiled so much. I just stood there for 2 hours with the biggest, stupidest, most cheese-eatin'-est grin on my face. Thanks go to Joe, Jeff, Galen, Dave, & of course the best audience around for making this a truly special night. Thank you all! With much love from your Uncle J.

If you are familiar with the song from Van Halen's first album called ON FIRE then you will understand what I mean regarding this show. The HOUSE OF BLUES was ON FIRE. Eric took the stage in his very nimble, humble way at around 8 pm. anyone who has seen Eric can attest to his reserved demeanor and sort of quirky way about him. It is unique to him and only leads to why he and his music are so special. I couldn't imagine Eric doing anything else in life but play his guitar and allow his very shy self to come out and surf with us aliens. Eric seemed to be more comfortable on stage then from years past, smiling occasionally and showing his joy for this night. I cannot stress enough how tight the 3 piece band was and he impressed everyone I think as he received a very warm response from the crowd. He is diverse in his playing and shines brightly along with his peers
Now on to Satch. THe HOB was buzzing with adrenaline after Eric. It was a packed house and it got a bit cozier at the front of the stage as people started to crowd around. I was feeling good, the beer was perfect to and it helped to take away the pain of my broken toe. The lights went low, Joe took the stage along with his friends and you could feel as FIABD started the sheer power of this group. The crowd welcomed Joe and the gang with lots of energy. From the moment Joe started to Play I could tell that he was in a good way. His playing of FIABD as compared to when I saw him on that tour was so improved. It is true that he is aging well, he was magnificent all night long. He in my view is more animated, more expressive and runs around the stage with joy, he is JOE and anyone reading this review knows how easy it is to like him. He made everyone feel special last night. You didn't have to be VIP, Platinum etc. It was all about the music and everyone in that building sharing in the experience. I again witnessed as always the many dumbfounded looks on so many as they witnessed Joe take solos and improvs to higher points and then when you thought he couldn't play any more melodic, faster, catchier he dipselled that by pushing it so far that my friend and I just started to laugh. You couldn't help it. It was inspirational. Many in the crowd commented on Dave's bass playing as incredible. He and Joe complimented each other so well and The Satriani camp should know that he is a gem. JEFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF has too much fun. He truly after all these years I thought couldn't possible get joy out of watching Joe play but sure enough you see Jeff smiling as he watches Joe play with a warm grin. He by his own reactions confirms my belief that we all are privelaged to hear him play. One Robot's Dream was a highlight as was The Meaning of Love. Circles had a great intro and end. The set list was fine, I really understood it was a SC tour and honestly the new songs deserve to be played. Live these songs shine far beyond the studio versions if that is possible. The new material fits the past material like a part of one amazing puzzle. I do believe SC has paid homeage to the past. This new album seems to celebrate the past music of Joe and others. Crowd chant was a success I think and should get even better over time. I had no complaints about anything from this night. I look forward to an Evening With Joe show in the future as I did walk away as many of us do wishing to hear so much more from him. I only hope Joe does these type of shows again soon. Thanks Joe, Jeff, Dave and Galen for a great night!
