This was probably the best concert i've ever attended--from the beginning with Petrucci's first note--right to the very last "build a house" as G3--it was incredible!! Petrucci opened with his style similar to his Dream Theater days--followed by Steve Vai and his amazing ability to discover new ways to make a guitar sing--my personal favorites were his two ballads--and then--as if those two weren't enough--satch walked onto the stage and showed us all exactly why he is the headliner for the G3 tour--"unreal" is all i can say. I was seated in row 3--15 feet from the stage and 10 feet away from an enormous 40 ft tower of speakers. (needless to say my ears were ringing when i left the concert. Stu agknowledged my friends and i as we were cheering by looking behind himself as if to see if we were pointing to someone behind him--we were stoked as all hell!! and satch even pointed to the seven of us as we went crazy for one of his solos. Once satriani had finished displaying his superiority to the world--Petrucci and Vai stepped out once again--and said-- "we're gonna play a little zz top" i shouted "LA GRANGE!!" to a friend of mine--and sure enough that unmistakeable intro started--and the croud went insane. After the concert--my roomate and i drove around the Reno Hilton to try and see if we could find them--and we did!! It was just the two of us hanging out next to the tour buses--and after about fifteen minutes--Dave (Steve Vai's 24 year old backup Guitarist) came out and said hi--we talked for about 10-15 minutes--he's a really cool guy. About fifteen minutes later--Steve Vai walked out--for those of you who haven't met him--his hands are enormous--and he's a cool guy too--we got him to sign our shirts and tickets. Finally--Petrucci walked out--looking for a bag of pretzels to munch on on the bus ride to Vegas for their next show!! We met him--he signed our shirts as well. We waited a while longer--but then Dave came back and said that Satch wouldn't be coming out because he and Stu were going to spend the night in the hotel-- :( oh well. Then--as we were leaving--one of the roadies for Vai's bassist approached and offered us some pics--we graciously accepted--i got Steve Vai's, Chad got Stu Hamm's. We left with gigantic smiles on our faces--

The concert was amazing--don't miss it.

My best friend took me to see this concert, and I have to say, wihtout a doubt, it was utterly the most amazing experience that I have ever had the pleasure of enduring in my entire lifetime. I don't even know where to begin. John was amazing and Steve was even more amazing, but for me, when Joe played 'Always With Me Always With You', it was the icing on the cake! I was literally moved to tears. I have never experienced anything like it before, but am certainly looking forward to seeing them all again! If anyone has the chance to attend one of the G3 concerts..GO!!! You definitely won't be disappointed! They put on a great show!

Petrucci's modest, unassuming demeanor and obvious command of his instrument and Satriani's total mastery of his craft served as anchors flanking Steve Vai's flights of fancy and intense showmanship. All three artists aimed to please, and they succeeded, while maintaining very unique and well-realized performance styles. Their 3-way at the end of the show was inspiring, and it was clear watching them work that they have a great deal of respect for each other. The only downside in my opinion was that sometimes Vai didn't know when to end a piece, he might want to consider heeding the old show biz axiom "leave 'em wanting more". His tongue action on the guitar was quirky and, as yours truly is female, I found it exciting and humorous. Vai is the most exciting performer in terms of showmanship in my opinion, and Satriani the most professional and seasoned. Petrucci is a major new talent, I hope to see more of him in the future.

Wow, i don't even know how to start withthis one. this has to be one of the most awesome shows i'll probably ever see in my life. I'd heard dream theatre before, so i was a little bit familiar with john petrucci but when he got up there i was completely amazed at how talented he is. I know he's gonna go big from here out after playing on the same stage with Satch and Mr. Vai. I was rather dissapointed they weren't selling any of his stuff though with the merchandise. next up was Vai. plain amazing. he got up there and really put on a show with his incredible guitar wizardry, as well as good humor. It was rad when he and mike would exchange licks or harmonize on solos as well as doing eachother's whammy bar stuff. that was awesome. the natural harmonics on for the love of god with steve's tongue were awesome too. after they got off stage i was thinking to myself, "there is no way joe can top that." steve sure gave him a run for his money. i guess i underestimated joe. when got got up there and really put on an awesome show, even better than vai's i think. he was incredible. i guess i had forgotten how awesome he was at the filmore in december and at the sacramento community theater the april before that on the opening of the EOC tour. He was amazing though. even though he didn't play near enough songs every single one was out of control. Joe, you rule! the encore was great seeing three of the most awesome guitarists jam out together on some zz top and hendrix. i thought little wing with steve vai singing was the best. it was a perfect way to end the show. the only complaint i have about the show was not having joe and john sing a song each like at the previous g3. i wasn't to thrilled about vai's bassist's singin. i would much rather hear from the people i came to see. anyway, the show was amazing and i'll be lucky if i ever see one as good again. thanks joe, steve, and john. my 2 plus hour drive and 48 bucks was more than worth it. i would've paid double to see it again.

For G3 I rank this one as the BEST. For Joe better than the last but not as good as the first. Steve Vai steals the show just like before. The encores were fantastic. I never expected ZZ-Top. The Hendrix songs "Voodoo Child and Little Wing" Excellent!.. Joe give up that audience Sing-Along and play some more tunes. See ya Next time around

I have to say that last nights show was the best concert I've ever had the honor of attending. My ears are still ringing, and all I can think about are fingers flying across fret boards. This was my first chance to see John Petrucci and Steve Vai in concert. First off, John, excellent guitarist. He is so obviously a talented musician to say the least. I liked the way he got into the music. The drummer, Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater, wow, amazing! And his bassist, I can't remember his name, but he gave a perfect solo. Steve Vai, I loved the way he played around on stage. His facial expressions while playing, the costumes, and how about that tongue playing?! NARLY!! His band was radica, too. Billy Sheehan, terrific bassist and singer. His singing for Shot Boy was cool, and then later on Voodoo Child. Mike Keneally, it was cool seeing him and Steve jam together. Plus the talents of Virgil Donati and Mike Weiner made the show great. Now, last but impossible to be least, Joe Satriani. The more I see him live, the more of his guitar-godness comes through. Jeff Campitelli, being one of my favorite drummers is of course always a joy to see, and definitely Stu Hamm!!!! Stu, we didn't get to see a solo by you!! BUMMER!! The show was unforgettable, none the less. The highlight of the evening came when Joe, John, Steve, Jeff, Stu, and Billy jammed out to first some ZZ Top, and then a couple by Jimi Hendrix. It was amazing, and it won't be soon before I forget that tubular evening. Thanks to the guitarists and the bands, and we can't wait to see you all again, whether individually or all together again. ROCK ON LIKE NONE OTHER!!!

I don't think it's possible to put a better group of guitarist together on one stage! From the drummers, bassists, and even the singer *grin* ... this was one rockin' showcase! There was a great blend of styles which kept your attention front and center the entire evening. Via ... is definitely the showman of the group. Gotta love his attire and hats! And that tongue ... umm, we won't go there - but what talent!! Petrucci - an outstanding guitarist. This venue really brings out his strengths and he had one heck of a great time playing for everyone on stage. I've seen his work before, but there's so much to say for how he gave his all with this group of artists. John Petrucci - you ROCKED when you were playing Voodoo Chile!!! I get goosebumps as I type about it. Satriani ... what can I say?! He's professional, beyond talented, and gave everything he had into the show. I wish I would remember to bring a large THANK YOU sign to flash when he looks out into the audience!! Raspberry Jam Delta V ... was wild 'live' on stage. I'd also like to say I hope they stick with playing Voodoo Chile throughout the tour. It was my personal pick and they REALLY made it come to life!

I truly dread the day Joe doesn't put together another G3. I can see myself with a cane, shaking it up at him while he's playing and seeing him point out at me in acknowledgement! lol ... well that will be a very long time from now, but a very funny image all the same!

The guitar accompaniments!! ... STU!!! We didn't get enough of you! We were sitting on the opposite side of the stage (but in the 3rd row!) ... thanks for trying to throw the pick my way! Maybe next time. You're awesome as always ... I am not sure I'd go to a G3 if you weren't there! I hope to catch you playing solos again soon. It's been TOO long. (and we think you should put out your own signature line of clothes!! ... those plaid shoes you wore about 4 years ago have never left my mind) He's the picture of comfort and is always having a great time.

Sheehan!! You couldn't have sang Voodoo Chile any better than the master himself. AWESOME!! What a voice ... what an artist! We hope to see you around on the next tour (if we don't fly out to see another set at a different location). Thanks for being a part of the group!

Kennealy (sp?)!! (keyboard/rhythm for Via). You are great!! Tons of experience, and we've seen you before on another G3 - your awesome with or without Via!

There was also an unknown bassist off to the side that contributed to Via's performance. I'm not sure if we missed his intro or if he's an upcoming performer just waiting for his big break. He had to enjoyed being up there with the best of the very best!

Drummers ... You were all incredible!! Jeff Campitelli - another one we can't get enough of ... he's so incredible with those sticks!

The whole show was incredible. I hate to be redundant but it was the best I've seen yet. No one will be disappointed! (sitting up close is quite the extra bonus - going to make sure we get more front row-type seats in the future!)

Thank you Satriani, Via, Petrucci and all ... for an outstanding first night performance!!
