On a wonderful Saturday night in Chicago I got to do something I never thought would be possible: I was treated to an evening with Mr. Joe Satriani. My two friends and I got there about 3 1/2 hours early. We got something to eat and then claimed our place in line. My excitement began to build as the hour approached. Once they seated us it took about 30 minutes before they brought out the man himself. He came out and thanked the crowd. He talked about the new album and the steps it took for him to make it and become satisfied. With that, he busted out with "Musterion", "Overdriver", and then a rousing rendition of "Diddle-Y-A-Doo-Dat." Then after a little more talking and educating us he informed he was going to play some older material. The crowd roared it's approval (me being one of them) and he started out with "Flying In A Blue Dream" and it was nothing short of fantastic. He then broke out a beautiful rendition of the beautiful song "Always With Me, Always With You." He would finish with the always rocking and complex "Satch Boogie." His playing was (as always) top notch. Even without his band behind him he managed to keep the music and playing at the highest level. Then came autograph and greeting time. I waited about 30-40 minutes and then came the time to meet the man himself. I got up there and he said "Hello" and I waited him take my album cover and sign it. He did a wonderful signing job and then looked up at me and shook my hand and said "Hey man, how are you?" Joe made direct eye contact with me and I became amazed that I was meeting him but I summoned up the courage to thank him for all his work and that his music provides happiness in my life and that it improves it. He seemed flattered at my comment, and said "Wow.......thank you very much." So all in all, a wonderful night and a great day to request off of work to meet Joe. He was a class act who really spent time with each person who came up to him. I appreciate what he is doing with these shows and it proves to me that he really cares about his fans, and cares about the music industry. He wants people who play guitar to be the best they can be. I will never forget this night and I only have Joe to thank.

Simply put...THE BEST!!! On an absolutely beautiful day in Chicago and a "Cubs win, Cubs win, I took my son and his friend to see Joe Rock out"!!! I had the opportunity to meet and greet Joe and listen to him explain how the songs got to where they are now, how the feeling grew from within, and how he expressed that feeling as he wrote and recorded them. Then he would field some questions that were just out there. Thanks Joe for putting up with those questions!! Especially for explaining about delay pedals and settings, do us all a favor and use your ear ain't it? That's what the manual is for!!! Joe then rocked out to Musterion, Overdriver, Flying in a Blue Dream, Always with me Always with you, and finished with Satch Boogie. The we waited patiently for the signing of whatever we were carrying. They will only allow you one thing to have Joe sign. I bought two of the CD/DVD packages but was on able to get one signed despite having them both ready. Rules are rules. More importantly my son got the 1999 Ibanez white JS1000 signed on the back of the headstock and two pictures with Joe as the first one the camera flash didn't work. They actually called him back from the seats so he could get another pic with Joe. Thanks Joe, his staff and guitar center for making this an awesome experience for him and his friend. They were in awe the whole time. I was in awe before I got there LOL!!! When it came my turn for the meet and greet Joe came around the table to greet me and said " Hi how are you Please to meet you. Nomally I would have froze..but Joe made it so personal I felt that comfortable. We said a couple things, took a picture ,shook his hand again and of course told him he's an excellent guitarist that I've admired for years and to keep rocking. I also told him I loved the new CD for what I've heard of it and to travel safe and God Bless you and your family. Simply the Best. Thanks Joe for making it personal. Your a far better person than guitar player and that's the best compliment I can give. On the way home My son and his friend were floored as I just smiled and said..." I told ya so" Thanks Joe for a great experience. Have a great tour and we'll see you when you come to Chicago!!

God Bless, Kevin

PS Thanks Guitar Center for the great security and being prepared in all phases of a meet and greet with a legendary guitarist and awesome person. You guys were awesome!!!
