One of the greatest experiences of my life. It was even more memorable than the Super Colossal tour!

Joe, what else can I say? You never cease to completely amaze me at your shows!

Joe is not only an incredible musician, but a great person as well. He took the time to actually talk to my friend and I before the show, outside in front of the hotel. I saw them all standing there, and I couldnt help myself, I had to go meet Joe! Did he get mad and tell me to go away? Most definitely not! He took the time to say hello, shake hands, talk for a minute, and even let me take a quick picture standing next to him! (have to have proof when you say you met Joe Satriani!)

Joe, Dave, Jeff and Galen put on a great show! The sound was perfect, the drums and bass were tight, rhythm guitars we spot on, and Joe was... JOE!

After the show, we stuck around to get Joe to sign the Surfing CD, and he was nice enough to open the CD, and put his signatures on the actual discs inside!

Great job Joe, I'll come see you play literally every chance I get! Keep it up!

Cant wait to hear new stuff too!!!

Surfin with the Alien is a sweet album to jam to, but my first satch experience. That's why I can't give the guys a 10. Great show, interesting stories about the songs, and a great time in a crazy venue.

Ground breaking record performed in an imtimate atmosphere! Even as disabled as I was can forgive the HOB for a less than spectacular setting, but I didnt see anyone gettin bounced out on their heads. Thank you Joe and HOB.

Joe at his absolute best, however the show was a little short @ 1 and1/2 hours long. Starting with "Surfin"..." and working their way through the entire album, the versions played were outstanding! A few of the songs included monster extended solos/ jams/endings that were amazing to listen to!! A lot of input from Joe during the show describing a lot of what went into the making/ thought process of "Surfin"..." 4 extra songs after the Surfin' set with no encores. Do not miss this if you have the opportunity- an amazing night and an opportunity to meet Joe after the show by being one of the first 50 people to purchase the new "box" set inside the venue! Thank you Joe (and band) , Swifty2 PS: Never got a chance to have my huge 6ft. X 7ft. banner with silver surfer artwork held up for the crowd by the band onstage, since they never came forward or came back for encores like in previous shows! However, Joe did get to see it after the show and even signed it for me!! I will try to get a picture of it on this site as soon as I get a chance... Also, this tidbit is added for those that always get "screwed" @ H.O.B. because of so many bad vantage points to watch shows... Eat dinner at the club before the show and "pass the line" or buy a dinner "package" and you get a reserved barstool(hopefully in a decent spot)! This was the first time in 3 Satriani shows I didn't have an opera box(the ultimate view), but did get some chairs up front. I FEEL BADLY FOR EVERYONE WHO HAD A BAD VIEW AT THIS SHOW- ESPECIALLY THOSE OF YOU FROM OUT OF TOWN!!! A once in a lifetime, 3 city appearance should not have so many restricted views. I hope it still sounded great!! Make sure you see Satch again from the best venue and position you can...

This is my 3rd time seeing Joe and by far my least favorite. Not because of any problems with the performance per say, as Joe sounded phenomenal and it is always exhilarating for me to see my favorite artist perform, but the House of Blues was awful. The seating situation was frustrating and the employees were rude and unhelpful. I would love to see Joe again and will do my best to make it out to more and more of his shows, but never again at the HoB Chicago.

This was an anniversary of sorts for me too. It was my 10th time seeing Joe and we drove well over 300 miles to Chicago for the event.

I was very, very impressed with the sound quality at the HOB. I was also pleased there was seating (maybe this was because I had just gotten 15 stitches removed from my ankle!). I ate at HOB and got in early, so I was one of the 50 who bought the CD and got to meet Joe. I've met him at a Platinum package event before and he signed my Ibanez JS. Both times meeting him, I have been very impressed with how humble and nice he is to his fans.

Great show Joe. I really appreciated the extended version of Always and Echo. Beautiful songs.

Can't wait for number 11!!

Having never been able to attend an actual JS concert before, I was already massively psyched about getting to the limited tour as it was. It was also my first time going to a HoB venue, so I really had no idea what to expect.

Managed to get there early enough to get a decent spot at the bar to the left of the stage, which turned out to be great as it was the side Joe played on the most!

Now, I'm not a musician at all, so no technical review or anything here, but I was blown away! All I can tell you is that I loved ever second of the show! From the stories about the different songs from SwtA, the intimate setting... that was packed, the great mix of songs from over the years representing the time since SwtA was released, the pure energy Joe, Jeff, Dave, and Galen put into the music all night long. Watching them play was incredible by itself, but the enthusiasm they had, how obvious it was that they enjoyed playing together, and just how much fun they were having pushed my experience to new heights!

Thanks for such a fantastic night of music, Guys!!

The Chicago show at the House of Blues was fantastic. I had not seen Joe live in a while so this was a real treat. I read a few complaints about the chairs on the main floor. I can understand this for some. However, I've grown really tired of the pushing and shoving that often comes with general admission shows. I have to admit, I was thrilled to see the chairs. It allowed me to concentrate on the main event--Joe and his perfomance of some of the greatest guitar music of all time.

Joe was in great spirits. Hearing the album in sequence was outstanding. It took me back to seeing him in the late 80s. Yes, the show was under two hours...however, it was only $35! Plus, you got to see a show that most others will only get to dream about. It was a truly exclusive event.

Joe has been a huge influence on my playing. I also love the fact that he's not afraid to state his opinion--he's very honest and that's refreshing. I remember old interviews in which Joe would admit to being a big fan of Prince's guitar playing and music. Other than Vai, how many other shredders have the stones to say that?

All in all, it was a great night. Thanks for letting Chicago enjoy the anniversary with you! SUGGESTION: How about posting a download of the audio from one of these shows for site members only?!

I saw a comment from Swifty "booing" the HOB for no photos. Two things...1) this is often at the request of the artist and 2) if you're the guy with the big white banner who sat in the 2nd row, I watched you snap photos with your dig cam all night long. So, take it easy.

O.k, Joe gets a 10 anyday, but HOB gets a 1. I agree with "bigdaddy_14" (James Beddell), HOB was HORRIBLE!!! This is the third time we've seen Joe at HOB Chicago. The other two times were fantastic, but this time with chairs on the main floor. While I'm sure it was great for the people on the floor, it sucked for us because it limited the amount of people who could access the floor. Security did not want people standing at the ends of the rows (against the walls), and escorted people out, only to give in towards the end of the show. One security guard told us it was only the second time they've put chairs on the floor and even the security hated it. What this meant for us (and a lot of people) was being crammed in like sardines up by the bar with no view of Joe at all. Also, we ate dinner at HOB to get in early and possibly get a reserved area. Well, we had our 12 year old nephew with us for his first concert, and found out that this area was 21 and over. WTF?!?! Isn't it an "ALL AGES SHOW?" Absolutely ridiculous.... Joe, please play a different venue the next time you're in Chi-Town. Please go back to the Riv or Aragon. I'm really unhappy with HOB ruining our experience. Besides the people on the floor, there were many unhappy people with HOB that night.

This was a fantastic show. The guitar playing was so intense I was blown away & I have seen Joe a few times. The crowd was great & you could tell Joe was very cool with the evening. I thought the chair incident was pretty cool also. Joe you are a GREAT & ENTERTAINING player!!!!!! I can't wait for another new cd & tour. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Joe was simply amazing BUT shame on the House of Blues. I had won the vintage vinyl contest...flew all the way from SC to chicago to see Joe, the show was oversold, i mean they were turning people away at the door who had already bought tickets. If you werent seated on the floor you couldnt see jack shit. The staff at HOB was horrible and of no help. My girlfriend is a little over 5ft tall and could barely see the show all night. She had to watch it on one of the monitors. I want to thank Sony BMG, Vintage Vinyl, and Joe for a pretty good trip. I just wish i could have seen Joe a little better. For future reference, unless you have a reserved seat, DO NOT go to the House of Blues Chicago. They will not take care of you, at all.

p.s. Joe sounded better than ever.

What an incredible opportunity to see Joe and his phenomenal band celebrate one of the great and groundbreaking albums in rock music. The show was spectacular as all of his shows are, it was especially cool to hear The Enigmatic weaved into one of the solos. Joe, if you are taking suggestions for the next G3 show how about Jeff Beck or Rik Emmett? Thanks to Swifty2 for helping us get to the autograph session, rock on dude! Joe, my son just loved your autograph, he wanted to take to school this morning:-)

Amazing concert, that's all I can say. I've seen Satch several times when I lived in Spain and yesterday I couldn't miss the chance to see him here (although not great, much better venue that the ones in Spain).

Some incredible intros and outros, great "old" songs mixed with a couple of "new" ones at the end (what about Love Thing for the next one?) and Joe's comments.

He enjoyed the show and so did we. I hope to see you soon again!

Thanks Joe.
