Fripp wasnt my cup of tea but you have to admire him as a musician.

Steve had a cold poor lad looked quite unwell but it didnt seem to stop him kicking some serious behind!... I must admit the rendion he did of "For The Love of God" with the Keyboard introduction by Tony McAlpine was one of the highlights of the night.. Whispering a Prayer brought a tear to my eye (first band live thats ever done that).

Joe well joe's Tone & Performance were flawless.. as said he playes some amazing classics and the new album material went down fantastic. highlight for me was when Joe used the older "white" JS to play Always with me always with you.. fantastic.

Allround amazing night.

The show & the musicianship was great, but i have one problem. Joe, i think you should spend more time with your fans than in your dressing room.

I've read some of the utha reviews, and it's noticeable that Jeff hardly gets a mention! How can this be! Of course Satch is GOD! (We're not worthy!) Of course Stu is master of the bass! But also, Mr. Jeff Campitelli is King of Big Drum MOuntain too! Rock on Satch, Stu and JEFF!!!

This was the first time I had been to one of Joe's gigs and it totally blew me away. The sound was amazing and I got some serious inspiration from it. I've watched Stu Hamms instructional video and he did some pretty amazing things, I never thought he'd put that stuff into his solo spot though, but he did and he couldn't have done it any better - I felt sorry for his bass after that. Anyone who hasn't seen Joe live is missing out - so go and support the man who really knows how to wail!!

i was a bit dubious after seeing him after the xtal planet/g3 tour at manchester 3(?) years ago cos he played too few of his songs and then the other guys joined him on stage but this time to have him all to ourselves for an age was justice. i never buy his latest album until ive seen him play it live and i wasnt let down, this album is very experimental with a club/techno vein running thru a few songs but its satriani thru and thru with engines being my fave and it came over at the apollo brilliantly. i felt that the show got off to a slow start but really kicked off after the interval and i was so pleased to see stu hamm and his wonderfull bass solo, satch and hamm complement one another so well (what type of bass does he use??? two weeks after the show i bought an acoustic bass as a starter) one majour gripe i have about any satriani tour is the merchandise on sale in the venue. it's not what you'd come to expect, naff quality t-shirts. how about some decent polo shirts, its worth paying extra. is ther any chance of him doing any uk festivals????

As ever it was a privelage to see Satch at work. There is no question that he was the best I've ever seen him - I also caught the UK legs of The Extremist/Joe Satriani/G3 tours. Why only 7 out of 10?Simple:the set focused too much on old material.I love all that too,but I was so disappointed to only hear 4 tracks off the new album. Also, I would have liked to hear some of the programming & sounds from the album, combined with the live group. Being a drummer myself, and having played all the Satriani material live with the DEAN O'SHEA GROUP (if you like Satch you owe it to yourself to go to deanosheagroup.com) I'm afraid I was a little disappointed with Jeff C on drums. Sorry! It's just,Jonathan Mover & Gregg Bissonette are two of the best rock guys in the world;I'd love to see one back with Satch next time. Best track:Ceremony.Joe was magnificent, make no mistake about it.

I've seen two previous Joe shows (both part of the G3 series) and this was better by far. No support - just 2.5 hours of Joe Jeff & Stu were as good as it gets. The lighting was excellent and the new (sometimes criticised) material from "Engines" worked well in a live show format. As icing on the cake Stu did another of his great "Albert Lee on a Fender bass" solos. Brill. Also interesting was the wide age range Joe now attracts - some members of the audience were clearly 60+ while others were in their early teens - indication that true talent always trancends age barriers (eat you heart out Noel Gallaher)

Joe, thanks you. thats all i can say i guess. that was one of the best nights of my life. thanks for being so humble and unassuming when you signed my chromeboy and chatted to me after the show. it really meant a lot to me to know that some people in music are obviously in it for the music, and not to get every penny that they can out of mtv :-) anyway, you are an inspiration and you always will be. peace and love and good happiness stuff. joe ( i think Joe is a good name, dont you? :-) )

WOW does not even describe this gig!!

This was the fourth time I have seen Joe (each time was at this venue) & I keep thinking he can't top the last time but yet again it ROCKED!

As usual the actual playing & executing of the music was beyond excellent so I wont go into detail on that!...What stood out for me this time was the AMAZING GUITAR TONE which fit so well into the overall sound of the band, yes BAND being the appropriate word here as Joe is a guitarist who cares what each other member is playing and all members complement each other superbly. It aint just a guy widdling around on a guitar with some backing musicians playing some monotonous rhythm just to keep the timing. I especially noticed this during 'Big Bad Moon' which not only had a heavy yet clear tone to it, BUT also Joe seemed a lot more confident in his singing ability than in previous gigs I've seen.

THIS date surely can't be topped in terms of all round quality next time, especially if Stu Hamm is going to be there slapping away happily complementing Joe's style :)

I've been very fortunate this year in the gigs I've been to (Steve Vai, Dream Theater & Pearl Jam) as all of them have been of a very high standard. The most memorable as always is Joe Satriani as I've been inspired so much by his guitar playing over the years & I always seem to find something new to improve the way I play, NOT so that I can be a carbon copy of him but so that I can try to take my own syle to greater heights...This time it's a quest for a KILLER TONE!!

Joe comes on there is one big rush for the stage i'm so close joe nearly stands on my fingers, the master begins the sound was just perfect the lighting superb, the crowd just leave the planet and surf with the master. i've seen joe so many times and he is always spot on, tonight he was perfect, yet again. i comment on Joes guitar strap the one with the aliens,he thanks me and gives me a pick what a guy. Jeff, that man can play he is just a blur. Stu's solo great. the cool dude Eric, Joe knows how to pick them. just one disapointment no bonus cds. IM DESPERATE FOR ONE. Thanks Joe....

The show was excellent, and I was close enough to study Joe and Stu's fingerwork which is stunning. my (bassist)friend I was with ended up with a set of bass strings signed by Stu after the girl next to me caught them and donated them to him (thanks,,, he was really made up).

The speaker on the right hand side was faulty ( Kept going off ) but the band didn't seem to notice. I wanted to take a photo but 'security' warned me not to.

Most enjoyable.

What can I say ? Stunning, superb, supeme, wonderful, marvellous ... you get the gist. If there were a key signature to describe the show it would have to be something like "Ace Beautiful Minor/Major Augmented".

The band came on (minus Joe) and started playing .. then .. the unmistakable sound of Joe (but not in sight). Joe appears from stage left - crowd applauds.

Whole band played brilliantly (as usual), Joe seemed to have grown in ability and confidence - he really seemed to enjoy himself.

The audience seemed to be a complete cross-section, 12 year olds to 70-somethings. I suspect it is the shear quality of Joe's music that accounts for this.

The lightshow was by far the best I've seen Joe put on so far.

Stu did the usual superb solo - I love the way he brings a sense of humour to things.

Jeff was smiling a lot and Eric was holding his own.

Joe signed autographs after the show - he is really a pleasant guy - I think he exudes communication as much as a person as he does in his music.

He signed my daughter's Flat Eric (the little yellow furry guy in the Levi adds) on the right foot (the left foot having already gone to Steve Vai).

A wonderful night - too bad it's going to be a while before he's here again.

Next time I'm going to ALL of the gigs.

Hey Joe, Thanks.

Cheers

Ged

Excellent gig! This was the fifth time I've been to see Joe and this was one of the best performances. All of the favourites were played - Ice 9, Always..., Crush of Love, Satch Boogie etc. The only downside is the lack of new material played at the gig. Devils Slide, Borg Sex, Clouds... and Until we say Goodbye were awesome performances, but there was no Champagne or Flavour Crystal 7. Anyway i'm not complaining as I got to meet Joe after the gig and got his Autograph.

Truly Amazing.

Wicked gig! Though not the best I've seen. However, having seen Joe a number of times before ( at the Apollo ), he'd set himself some high standards to excel. Seeing him onstage with Vai on the G3 tour is still THE moment of all the gigs, but putting comparisons to one side, this was still a top class night. With no support act it truely felt like " an evening with Joe Satriani ". A little more chat may have cemented this, but we came to see him play and that he did, with all the expected finesse and class that only Joe can provide. Joe, thanks for coming back to Manchester and giving us another wicked night!!

I just got back from the gig. Joe and the guys were great...The show was great! I'm a bit pissed off that Joe didn't acknowledge any of his fans that had been waiting for him since two o'clock though :o( a wave or a hello would have been nice even if he didn't wanna sign anything. Anyways, the gig itself was really super.

Joe, this was the first time I've seen you play and it was truly awesome. It was a great set mixing classic tracks (Satch Boogie, Cool #9, Mystical Potato Head Groove Thing etc. were brilliant) as well as the tracks from the new album, such as Borg Sex and Devil's Slide. Stu's bass solo was really great and went through a hauntingly brilliant opening part and finshed on a stomping country theme. No words can adequately describe Joe's performance so I'm not going to try. All in all, a great night and an incredible and inspirational show. Many, many thanks for coming to Manchester.

Somehow... I don't know how, but somehow, Joe actually managed to upstage Steve Vai's performance here a few months back. Although he was slightly more microphone-shy than Vai, his playing made up for this, and more so. People around me actually had their jaws touching the floor at some points of the show. Joe and his band provided a good all round atmosphere and relationship with the audience, which some took as a prompt for comments like: "F**K me, I'm gettin' guitar lessons when I get home!" All in all, one hell of a show.

Joe and the guys gave us great renditions of Summer Song, Love Thing, Until We Say Goodbye, The Extremist, Surfing With The Alien, Ceremony, Raspberry Jam Delta V, Down Down Down, Mystical Potatoe Head Grove Thing, Borg Sex, Circles, Always With Me Always With You, Clouds Race Accross The Sky, Friends, and about another 8 more that I can't remember. Thanks Joe, you were amazing. I will go again on his next world tour! Amazing, no other words can describe it!

As a disabled Dad in a wheelchair I came along with my young son to a show of stunning performances by Joe and Stu...How Stu does the Bass solo routines one can only imagine, whilst Joe's playing was sheer melodic perfection. We came prepared with an inflatable Alien (with a set of sunglasses and glowsticks) to pun the Surfin with the Alien theme.... An excellent night was then made magical when an excellent team of Security personal brought Joe over to meet my son, Joe is a nice guy he took time to chat and signed the Alien and a few other things we had, even had a few photographs taken with us....Once again the security guy was great he took the pics....We met all band members and have to say that they are a great crowd, with great sense of humours who seem to understand the need for the fans to interact with the Band which will definetly ensure that my son's jaw drop will change into a weeks Barrage of Non-Stop Turbo Talk to any and evryone.... We done guys and thanks to all including the security Team....

Not the best Satch gig I've been to (and this gig was about my fifth gig since the Extremist Tour). Todate, the best gig was the Crystal Planet/G3 tour which was fantastic - though a good deal shorter than tonite's set.

We got a great selection of material, but to my ears, some of the subtlety in the music got lost as the tone of Joe's guitar wasn't always as pleasant as it can be. (I'm not a musician or guitarist, so I don't know how to describe this properly - sorry) Had a much better view this time than the last 2 ocasions (which were at Wembley Arena) and was pleased that the sampled stuff didn't encroach too much on the overall sound.

The new songs sounded great live, and the older stuff sounded as good as ever. Jeff and Stu were fantastic as ever. That being said, not sure I'm going to get a ticket for the Wednesday show at Shepherds Bush. I'll see how I feel on the day.

Would love to have a setlist, but my ability to memorise the names of songs without vocals is pathetic.

"Not so good album" my arse...my only gripe was that he didn't play enough of the new album...Still, excellent show and enough "sweet" ones to keep the girlfriend interested....also, what happened with the right hand side speakers cutting out? Wouldn't have minded but I was on that side!!!! Great rendition of "Mystical Potato Head Groove thing", Big Bad Moon, FIABD, Borg Sex...hang on, everything was great!!
