Finally after 15 years I got to see the master at work. When I first started playing guitar I heard him and wanted to be able to do that someday. The gig was brilliant, and it was good to hear some songs that I've never seen him do live on the various DVD's that I have. My only critisism is of the venue, and the long long line down the street that we waited in for an hour to get in, only to find that the support act was nearly over. Perhaps a larger venue would be better, particularly one that allows people to get in a bit quicker. But having said that, It was a fantastic show. The standout performance had to be the extended version of Always with Me, Always with You, and I also loved his version of Friends, my current favourite Joe song. (Now I've seen all of the original G3 members seperately and wish that a G3 australian tour might happen one day. Joe was amazing, the band was amazing and it was simply instrumental rock guitar at it's finest. JOE ROCKS.

I have been a fan of Joe for as long as I have been playing guitar. He has been my idol from the time I heard the first Joe Satriani song to reach my eardrums...."satch boogie". So I turned up to the arena at 6:30pm (an hour before the doors opened) expecting a relatively small line of people but ended up in awe at the amount of people already there! There would have been atleast 200 people already! So there was an hours wait outside, which, in the end was worth it! The Show at the Arena in Brisbane was absolutely amazing, being the first time I had ever seen Joe live. IT was even better than I had expected and the performance was flawless! Playing lots of the classics from albums such as 'not of this earth' and 'surfing with the alien' elevated the resonance of the crowd into another dimension! Emotions were swelling in the arena...as that what Joe is a master in producing.........emotions on a personal level of understanding. The only problem I encountered on the night was some of the people in the crowd. I could not believe there were some people(three in particular) that were trying to 'mosh'. ITs Joe satriani ...not the offspring! They were asked to stop by people standing around them, as they were making it difficult to enjoy the show, but they wouldn't. IT became extremely difficult to see and stand without being elbowed or push harshly. In my opinion, people like these have no respect for the ability Joe has on a guitar and for anyone around them and were probably so pumped on drugs they didnt even realise who was on stage! Afterward I thought it would have been a much more attracting concert if there was optional seating (relatively close to the stage to be able to see without binoculars!) and standing space, giving people at the venue the option to stand or sit at any time during the concert. I guess this comes down to concert quality and selection of venue. I think a little more should go into selection of a venue to make the concert more enjoyable for everyone...not everybody wants to mosh afterall! Thanks for coming to Australia Joe.....you've been long overdue to come here, you have a HUGE fanbase here and I hope you are back again real soon!! Keep up the beautiful work!!

First, I wanted to say thanks for coming out to Australia Joe. It's a long way to come for so few gigs. Second, thanks for taking time to do the meet and greet. So few artists do it. I so appreciated the opportunity to meet you - and thanks to Allans Music too. As for the gig - the set was great. You were so generous and whilst the Arena isn't the greatest venue in town it is one of the most intimate - I don't think it would have been such an experience at one of the others - but I'm willing to check it out. Perhaps G3 at the Covention Centre? So many numbers to choose from. Flying a Blue Dream really got to me - but then it always does, Summer Song, Bamboo, Cool #9, I could go on. Thanks Joe, Galen, Matt (Moo rather than Stu perhaps?) the incomparable Jeff and the crew. Brilliant. What I was trying to say was that your music has contributed to some of the best times of my life Joe, and the gig certainly ranked up there. Let's do it again some time

Joe was brilliant.

It was such a great concert, and truly a dream come true to see Joe live, and to meet the great man afterwards. I would score a perfect ten if it wasn't for the venue. The Arena is the worse possible place to see a live act. And having them turn off the air con as soon as Joe walked on stage really bugged me. I know they did this - I was standing right in front of the vent. I wish I could relive hearing Blue Dream again. I had Goosebumps.

Come back soon Joe. Bring friends and find a better place to play :)

First an explaination of why a 6. I rate it as that because of the whole evening, not just Joe's playing. IMO, Joe played at a 9.5, but other factors dragged the evening down. The arena is a very ordinary place - it stinks of cigarettes and beer, and was way too hot and took 10 minutes overtime to let us in. I know for a fact that the place can be freezing, so why they turned it low is anyone's guess. Second the rhythm guitarist was way too quiet in the house mix (I was on the balcony) so the intricate second guitar parts were hard to hear.

Onto good factors, as soon as Jow entered playing his guitar, that smooth, fat tone flooed my ears. The snare had the meanest sound with some good smack and reverb. "Time" was absolutely supurb and the performance is still stuck in my mind four days on. Opening with "Up In the Sky" and "House Full Of Bullets" was very cool, but disappointing to not hear "Crystal Planet" after that. I was almost hoping to hear the whole album :P Matt played some of the funkiest bass in "Cool #9" and the whammy pedal played magic. I would have really liked to hear a tapping song such as "midnight", "day at the beach" or "the forgotten pt 1" and also "Ceremony".

I would love to see you again Joe, but please not at the Arena, or get them to clean up their act.

Yes it would have been better if the air conditioning was going properly but who knows if they turned it off or not. I can't beleive how hard you played JOE towards the end you must have been so tired it was amazing to see you just keep playing and playing! I waited that day since 3pm so I could get a good standing position. I was lucky to have waited so I was 1metre away from the man in the middle of the stage! I was wondering when it was going to end. I really did think it was the end but when you came out to do a couple more that toped it off. I was so pleased at the end of the show, the very end I had waited and I had tried catching one of your guitar picks. But right at the end of the very last song friends I think I caught your last pick you threw out, thank you, you dont know how much that meant. You signed my grey ibanez guitar too. Thanks Joe. Ill never forget how I got to meet you and see you. Your a great guitar player, the coolest guitar player and the nicest too. Thanks for a great show. You're a great role model, you have been the one guitarist that has helped shape my playing. Joe Yates

Hi, this was my first Satch concert, and I've gotta say, it was awesome. I have to agree about the venue, it was very hot, but me being taller (sorry if my head was in the way) I had a good view of the stage. There were so many great moments, but some favourites were House Full of Bullets, Up In Flames, Starry Night, and Searching. I only hope it's not too long before Joe comes back here, and maybe next time try another venue. Also gotta give a rap to Simon Gardener and his band who was a great supporting act. Thanks for the great night.

I went to see Joe the Arena. And without shame I must say that I got a little emotional when he came out.

Him and his band rock the place in the hot venue(some girls went home becuase of the heat inside) In fact I did not rate the venue high. He played songs from every album inc. the "Is there love in space" album and the highlights where ....um..um too many to say but I'll say this time and time agian "oh wow what is he doing now" refering to his fert work.

He not only rocked with his band but rocked with the crowd which impressed me more so, He loves his fan very much and was easy to see that.

and a long encore really top of a great performnce not only Satch but Matt, Dave. and Jeff

Too bad about the venue (although the poeple were friendly) all in all a awesome experience.

Oh by the way guy named Simon Gardener had the pleasure of supporting Joe who also went over very well.

Hi to all, Thanx Joe for a fantastic gig at the Arena here in Brisbane. I have been a follower of Joe's strange and beautiful music since the eighties and and it's a dream come true to finally see him play live in the flesh in Australia. Since this is my first Satch concert , i have nothing to compare it to, i just hope i get another chance to see him play. There were so many great moments to mention, Cool #9 , Flying in a blue dream bought tears of joy to the eyes. It was great to here all the old classics as well a stuff that he rairly does. Sleepwalk was unbelieveable, as was Bamboo.

I tend to agree with satch63 on the venue, Arena isnt the best place to play in Brisbane. It was as hot as hell in there, I'm sure they turned the A/C off so they could sell more beer. I felt sorry for Satch and the band , they must have been steaming up on stage under the lights. Also view was very restricted because of the 4 huge concrete poles. Anyway enough of the moaning, awsome gig i just hope the venue didn't impact on any future concerts in Brisbane. :)

Gday all. The Brisbane Arena show was my first Satch concert and will certainly not be my last. I've been a fan of Joes work for quite a few years but unfortunately, I was too young when he was in Brisbane last (back in '88 I believe).

The support act was Simon Gardener whom I have heard of but never had the pleasure of hearing his work. I was quite impressed with his acoustic set and his band was tight.

And then at 9, Joe was out and on fire. We got all the favourites like Always with me, Flying in a blue dream, Cool no.9 etc. All spot on. But, the real pleasure was some rarities that he doesn't play live often- and we also got a good selection from the new album. The standout for me was his version of "Searching" which had added chord changes and a really loose jam feel. His band was awesome and we got nearly 3 hrs of music. More than worth the ticket price. A great concert- very inspirational and I hope Joe doesn't stay away too long.

I will keep this simple.. Joe your performance was great. Also the supporting act Simon Gardner was awesome. - he has what i would call a "Tommy Emmanual quality". I only have 2 gripes. The stage was quite low, so anyone under around 5'11" (including myself) couldnt see a thing. Occasionally I seen a head here and there.. and a few times got to see peices of joe for split seconds in and amongst the crowd. - But hey thats a venue thing. Still, myself and a few others were dissapointed due to that.

my other gripe is that you didnt play midnight!!! Many people were dying to hear it live. If you didnt play Surfing with the alien joe, i swear many people would have charged the stage!

Other then that it was great, the performance was awesome; everyone i spoke to after were 'stoked' (aussie term).
