Wow, great show!

Especially a compliment for Joe and Steve, because they have given us a great concert for more than 3 hours!!!!!

I hope I will see a G3-concert in the next future in VIENNA again!! Thank you for the great music!!!

wow, what an indecredible evening! joe and steve seemed to have a lot of fun playing in front of the viennese crowd. both performances were absolutely amazing. but playing together...so much chemistry, so many wide-opened mouths and eyes, seeing the greatest guitarplayers perform together. thanks and a warm hello to joe, who was very relaxed after the show signing tons of pics, posters and covers - and my tattoo too(!). I´m very looking forward to see joe live again (and maybe show him my 2nd satch-tattoo...).kind regards to everybody who reads these lines. michael pischinger

I think, this was the best Satrianis show at ever. Steve Vais setlis was really good, his band were really excellent players, but Steve was "just a lot of circus and show and not that much music"... And what really makes me bad: During the song For the Love of God (in my opion the best from SV) Steve made some miss, then made a bad mug and interrupted the whole song. The he asked his technic for another guitar (he was playing FLO and he asked for FLOII).. I really don't know, if this was just another Steves show, but it really makes me bad. And Joe... Your show was absolutely unbelievable. Your new guitar JS1200 is also excellent. I was standing in a from of an audience. I was entertaining like never before. And you jamed everything. Nothing to say, just YOU ARE THE BEST!!!

First I have to say I had seen Joe once and Steve twice before, all those gigs were great. This time it was terrible. The Robert Fripp-set has been discussed enough, although not bad in itself, it doesn't really fit into the G3 format. Steve Vai's band came up and the first thing I noticed was probably the worst drummer I have ever seen in a pro concert. Although rhythmically good, the guy must be deaf. He plays with absolutely no dynamics at all and simply bangs away like a construction worker. In every song. Regardless of the style. I'm sorry to say this but Jeremy Colson really sucks big time. The evening's biggest problem though was the sound. It was simply TOO LOUD. Drums and Bass were so loud, the other instruments had no chance. In the Vai set, Steve's guitar was barely recognizeable, MacAlpine and Weiner were not audible at all. It was a joke. I believe there was a pretty fantastic Vai/MacAlpine solo spot but I'm not sure because I could see but not hear them play. Satriani comes up and plays a very inspired and really cool set. (Especially the Always with me outro solo...GRRREAT) This time the balance between instruments was ok. Unfortunately it got even louder than before and after 30 minutes people started to leave the venue because they felt sick from the muddy lows. I left right before Joe's last song. I had never thought that I would leave a G3 concert before G3 comes up but the volume was simply annoying.

Dear Mr. Satriani and Mr. Vai: That's no way to go. I don't pay almost $70 to either not hear the instruments or hear them but have to fear for my ears (which, being a musician myself, I need in the future). This has nothing to do with "rock and roll spirit". At a certain volume level, music doesn't sound good anymore. You both spent years trying to find and create the right sound, why let it go down the drain for volume???

Yesterday night your playing was wasted.

Wow, what can I say about this show that the others haven´t said to the shows? There is one thing: Before the show, Vienna had the honour to have the imprints of STEVE VAI and JOE SATRIANI, at about 19:00 Joe and Steve left their imprints in concrete at the Walk of stars at the Vienna Gasometer! To the following G3 show I just can say: Fantastic evening, fantastic music, fantastic musicians, great G3 Show (and I mean: G3 show)......... So let me explain it: First was ROBERT FRIPP, he did some kind of "Strange Beautiful Music" about 20 Minutes with different guitar synthesizer effects, for me a new way of Guitar effect experience but very good, and I have to say it again: MUSIC IS NOT ONLY TECHNIQUE- that was real music was Robert was doing!; Next was STEVE VAI beginning with: I know you´re here, then Giant balls of gold and some other songs including: Whispering a prayer and for the love of god, the songs an the whole band were absolutely amazing! After that followed a short break, but then Ladies and gentlemen: JOE SATRIANI got on Stage and rocked the whole hall! With songs from the new album ITLIS like Hands in the air, Up in Flames, Searching or Is there love in space? but also some older but still favorite hit songs like Cool#9, War,Satch Boogie, Always with me always with you; then came the great G3 Jam with: Ice 9, Red (from King Crimson),The murder (also King Crimson) and Neil Young´s Rockin in a free world........... That was the mindblowing Show (I wished I could have been listening on for hours).............After the Show some lucky people had the chance to have a meet and greet with Joe and Steve: Unfortunately I didn´t have a Aftershow Pass so I couldn´t say Hello to Joe and Steve :-( So I can only say: Thanks for this incredible Show and: JOE PLEASE COME BACK TO VIENNA (perhaps in 1-2 years?), hope to see you again !
