It's February, and this an email up date from yours truly Joe Satriani... Let me tell you first, that Steve Vai and I had a fine and good time playing "Super Colossal" for the Grammy Pre-Tel audience at the Grammys this past weekend. Here's a mini photo as proof:

The Pre-Tel is where four thousand or so members gather to celebrate and give out awards for 97 of the 108 Grammy categories. These are not televised, mostly because it would make show about 7 hours long! It's low key, but, taken quite seriously, by some.

Although a good time was had by all, I did in fact not win a Grammy. Yes, for the fourteenth time! But, many fine people did, which is good.

While sitting through the three hour Grammy show I got a chance to chat with Jack White and the Raconteurs, Susan Tedeschi, Nelly and other notables. Some say they caught a glimpse of me on TV wearing my black hat. There's a funny story about that, but I'll get to that some other time...

The news on the G3 tour is that we will offer "CLUB JOE," a new meet and greet experience. "CLUB JOE" guests will receive a 60 minute Q&A and autograph session with me, a personal photograph, a guided tour of my on-stage "Guitar World' and an autographed copy of my new double DVD "Satriani Live". Plus, two lucky guests will be brought back onstage to watch the show's encore from the side of the stage!

John Petrucci, Paul Gilbert and I are really looking forward to going head to head, toe to toe and string to string all across the USA and Canada. Come on out and help us write a new chapter in G3 history!

As reminder, we often provide links to exclusive online ticket presales for Joe's shows. This last tour we've been working very closely with the fine folks at Entourage Talent who book Joe's tours and are making great progress in bringing all of these presales to you on a regular basis. It can be a very complicated process to work with different local promoters for each show, but we've been updating SATRIANI.COM with updated information on a daily basis, so we hope regular visitors have been appreciating these efforts.

So, keep this in mind for the future and check the site regularly if you are interested in picking up advance tickets for future shows. Since the leadtime is often not enough time to send out email blasts, checking the web site is the best way to be sure you catch them.

We also have plans to do more targeted emails to members who are signed up to this newsletter so that instead of filling up everyone's email all around the world with details on a single city's presale information, we only let you know based on the city/state/zip information in your profile. After two amazing G3's in Mexico, South America and Australia, Christmas in Singapore, and New Years in SF, what better way to kick off 2007 than to announce our G3 Spring Tour with John Petrucci and Paul Gilbert!

But first, a word about NAMM; I had a great time at the Peavey booth inviting the guys from OCC to debut their Peavey Chopper with Hartley Peavey himself, followed by the debut of the new JSX Mini Colossal Amp.

The amp is really a little monster. With 5 watts of pure class A sound, a Power Sponge(master volume), fx loop, tremolo, a direct out, and a killer 8" speaker, it's the perfect little recording amp, practice amp, and all around fun amp. Check it out...

The next evening I helped Steve Vai celebrate his 20th anniversary with Ibanez Guitars with an all star jam at Hollywood's Key Club on Sunset. At the end of the night Steve and his band were joined by Paul Gilbert, Andy Timmons, Herman Li(Dragonforce), Matt Roberts(3 Doors Down) and yours truly for a great and thunderous jam.

And, yes, Paul Gilbert is joining us for his first full G3 tour! Paul has been a frequent guest of our shows over the years and I'm happy to announce he'll be bringing his amazing guitar work on tour with us this year. His new solo CD "Get Out of My Yard is awesome... Go get it!

Change of Venue for Adelaide fans

The venue for the G3 concert in Adelaide Entertainment has been changed to the Thebarton Theatre on the same date, Wednesday December 6.

The Thebarton Theatre will offer a more intimate concert experience than would have been possible at the Entertainment Centre, which we hope will be appreciated by all ticket holders.

All tickets purchased for the Entertainment Centre show are valid for the relocated show without need for exchange. Should patrons be unable to attend the Thebarton Theatre, a full refund can be obtained from the ticket outlet from which they were purchased.

G3 is going to OZ! ... Steve Vai, John Petrucci and I with our band of brothers touch down in Brisbane, Wednesday, November 29th to start our G3 Australia '06 Tour ... We will be playing Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth as well... check out satriani.com for dates and venues etc...

We are inviting everyone to create their own short video of what you would dream if you were a robot. All of the SATRIANI.COM members will vote on their favorite videos and the winners will win some cool swag.

The Details

1) Come up with an idea for your video -- let your imagination run wild! If you were a robot would you dream of other robots? Humans? Space exploration? Love? Eating pancakes with syrup? A nice clean oil bath? Include your family, pets, friends, sock puppets, etc in your video.

2) Create your video -- use your webcam or use pro video gear, it doesn't matter. All videos must be under 5 minutes and may use excerpts of the song "One Robot's Dream". However, there is no requirement for there to be music. Take care not to use someone else's video without permission.

3) Upload it to YouTube and tag it with "onerobotsdream".

4) After your video has been posted, verify it shows up when searched on "onerobotsdream". Here is a link to all videos with that tag.

5) Post on the "Talk To Joe" page to share it with other fans while we wait for videos to be posted and set up the voting system.

After the videos start coming in, we will create an area on SATRIANI.COM where you all can vote on your favorites through the end of the year.

The creators of the top 10 videos will win a special prize package that includes: Signed "Satriani LIVE!" DVD & CD, G3 South America tour shirt, and G3 Australian tour shirt.

Selected winning entries will also be featured on SATRIANI.COM.
